I'm from Fort Wayne and it's very common to have interactions with Amish that are amazing! We love them and they love us. We also protect them a lot more than we would other people like us.
I love these photos!!! THIISSSSS is what God wants. People from totally different walks of life getting together to hace fun doing something they love together, getting exercise and enjoying the beautiful outdoors with family and friends ❤
This shows the difference between the new order style Amish in Indiana compared to the Swartzentruber Amish and the strict old order Amish where I’m from because we were not even allowed to interact and play ball with outsiders like this let alone have a basketball hoop in our possession
I have a question, Eli. Is your brother a part of the new order Amish near Strausburg, OH? I drove through there a few weeks ago and noticed all the new order Amish out there riding foot scooters, bicycles, and using gas lawn mowers and other battery operated tools.
@@eliyoder491 oh, ok. I now remember you said that before, but I had forgotten. Thanks. Was really cool to see them out enjoying life and taking care of things for the community they live in.
That's awesome to see people coming together to compete and have FUN together. Nobody caring about skin color, clothing brand, or any of the many other ways we find ourselves divided. Thank you for this Eli! ❤
The last day the group of Amish was working on our house, they were building. They planned a half day so we could feed them lunch and take them for a boat ride. They each rode on the tube being pulled by the boat. They had a blast! We became pretty good friends with them.
Swiss German Amish.... NBA.... "National Basketball Anabaptist"... Amish Style. 🐎 ❤.. Great video, my Swiss German Amish brother Eli. God Bless you! 🙏 ❤ 🙏
Hey Eli! I saw a group of Amish folks watching F-18s land and takeoff at the observation area right outside of Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach. I do not think they were old order. I love your videos they are very interesting and enlightening! Keep doing what you do!
Having just watched your short regarding Amish families having a child annually, I couldn’t help but notice the seated Amish wife and her very pregnant belly. This video really touched my heart; seeing young Amish guys give their worldly opponents a run for their money, after a hard day’s work, is wonderful. ❤️🇨🇦❤️
Yk, this brings a smile to my face because I'm from Kentucky, and there's a big Amish community that lives in the rural part of my county. And all the experiences I had were great, very friendly to outsiders at least most of them were lol
I was thinking about you this past weekend! We go to Tennessee on a regular basis to visit with friends who live near an Amish community that has shops set up for business with outsiders and we love to visit with them. They make the lovelies home goods, foods and grow the BEST fruits and veggies, have brightly colored dresses and jeans and know the best work boots and to put them in the same shop for the local blue collar folks. This past trip we also went to Rock City and saw an Amish family, in their signature blue and black, what looked like their very best, cleanest, newest clothes, exploring the paths and reading the signs, gushing over the nick-nacks in the gift shops and playing with the view finders. Im sure they were likely from different communities, but it's so cool to see them out and about. Just doing family stuff. I hope they're having a wonderful time, discovering themselves and being able to make decisions on where they want to end up with plenty of information and positivity.
I was blessed to travel to Windsor, MO and go to a little Amish store ran by a former Amish couple, Leonard and Dora Mae. Their Amish community shunned them when they both came to Christ. We wanted to support them so we went to their store to shop. We will keep going back whenever we can!
We live in that area, and there are a couple of Amish families that we do business with regularly. They always seem very open and friendly. Several years ago my mom was even invited to the wedding of an Amish coworker.
That’s how you spread the gospel. As Christians we are called to be set apart from the world but not separated from it. We are called to be a light. To be relatable and kind and loving in an effort to share Jesus. What a testimony to see this - as it’s now made national highlights.
Ppl trying to live in old world now days but u can't live in old world no more and ppl better realize that bc if u don't change to live in new world u will lose ur futures and ur past and the Amish is one of groups that's destroying their futures and their past history by not living in this world
The Amish we have here in Kansas seem to be more like this. I’ve never seen them play ball with us but they do interact with the community and a lot of them have thriving businesses because we love their food and furniture.
Yep confirm everything everyone from that area is saying is true. From Fort Wayne actually grew up in in very north of FW not far from Grabill, IN. I see or interact with the Amish community daily working in Healthcare.
I grew up in Indiana. I would occasionally go to the town of Friendship Indiana which has some Amish for a fair/flea market style fest. I've talked to a few Amish.
That 3rd photo with the guy dunking is iconic and surreal, with the pregnant Amish woman in the background, the contrast in cultures is striking in this photo
This reminds me of the time I saw Hutterites playing volleyball at a park. The girls were wearing plain dress in 80 degree weather and having the time of their lives. As a 12 year old who only heard about how "stuck in the past" they are it was kind of enlightening to see them acting like kids too.
@eliyoder491 in case you missed it there was a bunch of Amish men at the Phillies game the other night in Philadelphia I’m assuming they were probably from Lancaster County
@@eliyoder491 ice coolers. Mostly blue with white covers. Not a form of clothing. They were all on the ground at people's feet mostly. Probably for bottles of water.
Grew up in that area, about 45 min from Fort Wayne near Shipshewana. in My Grandfather was an Amish hauler and married to 2 JO women. They have become very lenient in the past decade, in that area.
As one who lives near Fort Wayne, we have a lot of interactions with the local Amish. They seemed to have become less strict over the years. It is amusing to see them pulling fishing boats with their wagons and running around lakes on pontoon boats. They do a lot of business with the "English" in construction and building supplies.
Well when you haven't been desensitized and the world is still very real for you you get to experience everything is very real, even a game. They aren't distracted. But also isn't basketball from the Mayans? I would call it ancient and not worldly.
As a hoosier born and raised. Can confirm it's damn near state law that every home has to have a basketball hoop. I think there were 6 hoops in my cul-de-sac of 10 houses.😂😂😂 and I was only about 30 mins away from Middlebury and 45 from shipshewana both big Amish communities.
I've been to an Amish basketball tournament between several of the guys that would play against each other! At the end of the season they'd have a tournament. And I want to tell you it is almost as rough as football when the Amish are playing basketball! It was the most entertaining game of basketball I've ever seen in my life! These guys meant business! And because it was a tournament we were there all day! There were so many fouls that the referees quit calling them or it would have never ended! One guy even bit another guy trying to get the ball from him! 😂😂😂
That event looks like it is so inspiring!! As the world changes, so must people adapt... just 2 rules, go with God and try not to go head first into things...
Our Amish have boats and kayak, bicycles etc.. many Amish and non Amish are friends and visit each other. We have been invited to supper a few times. They have many businesses. The Mennonite here drive, work and wear normal clothes. But you can tell by the accent. And hair.
I'd agree it's a good thing if people of different religions, political outlooks, races, etc., can meet over fun activities or festivities. We all need to learn to see the human beings behind the strangers with whom we share the world. We're not that different from one another.
I love it!!! The stricter orders of Amish make me sad for the kids who never get to experience doing things like this. It's like they read the Bible and thought that God never wanted them to have any good clean fun. I think it's good this order is maintaining a healthy balance.

LOVE TO HEAR IT..... spirituality mixed with a little free will never hurt anyone
Nothing like a good old game of "barn ball" . Ours was kind of like a combination of basketball and pro-wrestling. 😂
Nice !! Good for them. Getting along with their neighbors and having some fun.
always nice to see people getting on with life together.!
World would be better if we all just treated each other with kindness.❤
Some Amish were born with that kind of talent
People having fun, thats great to see, 👋🇨🇦
Thanks for sharing this wonderful "togetherness" with others!
It's good to see the Amish as another segment of our country rather than a reclusive mystery.
Work hard, play hard!
That's great. Just need the ladies to get a turn too!
This is beautiful ! People just enjoying each others company.
This put a huge smile on my face
MY JAW FLOORED WHEN I SAW ELI LIKED MY COMMENT, my day has just been made :)

They are from Harlan and Grabil in my area. Some are neighbors. I have a few videos on my channel of Amish
That's awesome to see. I wonder how much hidden talent there is amongst them.

Yess we love our Amish ❤ down in Sarasota Florida we have a fairly big Amish community and everyone loves them around the parks 😊

It's such a good outlet for that competitive spirit...
Probably in good shape as well
Actually so wholesome

Some of the best Softball players I've seen were Amish. They could absolutely crush the ball.

Eli. I saw many coolers. Would that have been considered worldly?
Not in this new order Amish group, they wear all kinds of different colors. But the old order strict groups like mine do not.
