Comfort! :-)
People come in different heights and widths, plus people sleep in all manner of positions and degrees of motion. If you are 5' tall, slender, and sleep motionless on your back with your arms folded across your chest, you will be comfortable in a much smaller space than someone who is 6'6", built for rugby, sleeps on their front and moves around a lot in their sleep. I'm closer to the latter than the former and cannot sleep in a 3' single bed without a leg falling off the bed, nor can I sleep in a bed with an above-mattress footboard as my feet need to hang off the end.
Personally I’m 6’5” so anything less than a double literally won’t fit me comfortably
Very smart man. He used holes verses knobs, which saved him weight. This is impressive.
Practical and what suits you not a " what everyone else does" Love the smaller bed for more room.

Magnetic doors, hand pump for water, bought-in drawers, room divider/bookshelf - such great ideas.

I really loved the silver tape and your bookshelf. Oh my gosh, your bookshelf was brilliant. I love to read and it would be difficult for me to go without the books I love. I know we can read off of tablets or our phones, but I like the smell of the books, holding it, and flipping the pages to my favorite parts or whatever. Reading off a tablet or phone just isn’t the same to me, call me old school, I guess.

Saves money on making drawers so you just gave great ideas for future van builders.....

Yeah, I tuned in because of the bed but then figured it was only a single and there still wasn't room for a toilet - a permanent bed and toilet being vital for full-time living, for me at least. I'm going for the murphy bed approach and I think I may have solved the toilet/shower problem. I like his removable approach - I'm doing that but also the ability to swap them around if needed.
I love his layout. Seems cozy and practical.

Beautifully designed. Quick, 2 weeks. I am not sure if I saw any exhaust fans or any windows... But if he is single and eats out.. No smells anyway. Can shower at a gym or family member or at work..
Great way to save money and looks cozy...
What an incredible build! Everything from the bookshelf and cabinets, to the lighting, single/twin bed, and unique personal touches/artwork!
Thanks for showing a practical twin/single bed in a van. Because of the smaller bed you have more space in the van. And your bed is still large enough for a 2nd person ("nudge-nudge wink-wink say no more" 😉) I know people choose what's right for them but I don't understand it when it's only 1 person living in their vehicle and they have a full/queen sized bed taking up half of their living space.

You are right about the bed size. Small and cozy are the best places! I love your layout!
It makes sense.. foot pump sink is just as easy to make... And you can clean both hands easily...I'm sure it would get used more an easily get more beat but with the savings low cost... It's worth it from what I can tell.

This is great! I agree, who needs a double or queen bed if it's for one person only? You have the sofa if you need more space. I think I would make the twin bed smaller and get that shower and toilet in.

Cracking build that Ash and the hole design also reduces weight. I love the way the lights are reflected off the insulation. Would love to see it in the night.
I love love love the design. The lighting behind the "holey" trim was inspired! Smaller bed is good and looks ok for 2 people snuggled up. Tweaks: a loo & shower facility!
That is only the second van I've ever seen with that layout with the smaller bed and the storage/bathroom area beside it. The other van I saw followed through with making that space a bathroom, but maybe they were smaller and shorter than this owner so the space worked. Cool van!
Some good simple ideas there.. nothing complicated really, just goes to show how ideas can form and creations made.

Oh I am in love. WOW WOW all those little holes for the light to come out. The dividing wall/bookshelf excellent. Love the little holes on everything. Great hidden bed. Brilliant
This van is like a steroid boost of ideas, I love the philosophy of keeping everything as simple as possible though I'm sure the design and build skill involved some conciderable ability. Love it.

This van is beautiful, I really like the fact that it's stealth! I don't know if I'd use a smaller vehicle if there is no shower, on the other hand it's nice to have all that space, especially in that kind of weather!

This truly is one of the best (1st ) design/builds that I have seen so far on you tube. It's almost perfect. That secret stash hatch can be a basin one day. I would make all the counter tops that way. It's if the whole interior is modular and can be moved around in the future. . .
The single/¾bed is a stroke of genius. Pity about the shower, bathroom. Hopefully in the future it will materialize, maybe in another way. How about outside by the garage with a gas water heater. . . .

omg imagine having an AR program you make and some AR QR code scanners printed and stuck on those little boxes in the back storage an being able to see all the items in each tiny box without having to open them. And even creating a search system on a phone app wherein you can say what you want and it'll show you which drawer it's stored in via some ar user interface like a red X target overlaid over the box in question
