This is one of the rare few Ben 10 episodes where the scoring system doesnt do the episode justice. Its just due to the nature of how the scoring system is set up, and how it was used in past episodes, it would get lower scores in several categories because of it. @WackoMcGoose Год назад +49

It could be _because_ it's his first usage of Clockwork. Remember, one of the Ultimatrix glitches is that it _doesn't_ download the instincts of what an alien can do (Shocksquatch's debut in Heroes United, for example), Ben has to figure shit out as he goes (and Ultimate Ben didn't think it relevant to tell his past self "hey, this is what windy-up time boi can do", maybe because the timeline needed Ben Prime to figure it out on his own?). Compare with Atomix's debut in OV, where he immediately knew how to super saiyan stuff, because the True Omnitrix did give him the info on what an alien can do. ...As for Chromastone, who he's had for basically all of UAF, yeah, crystal boi got nerfed hard.

This truly felt like an episode that needed it's own full review since we never saw something like it prior and after. Ben and Gwen going on a solo mission since the trio can't realistically always be together. Nemesis being extremely dangerous attacking Ben in his human form and attempting to kill him, facial surgeries, Jennifer becoming attached to where she'd kill others for him.. people actually being killed in pretty realistical ways compared to the Alien explosives format.
With it to end with a hit or an attack but simply Nemesis giving himself up in order to protect Jennifer to where the public believed he kidnapped her rather then the actual truth with her crying and biting her lip show that they truly loved one another.
With Ben and Gwen simply watching and not interfering knowing the battle was done and there was really no winners in this episode. This was when I was coming of the Ben 10 Train after quit a number of years but this episode truly stuck out the Saturday Morning when I saw it.

This is my favorite episode of Ben 10 UA. While I wouldn’t call it a flawless episode, it’s definitely a well put together episode. The episode shows it’s themes well of how fame can affect an individual, how revenge can change how a person acts in any situation, and how it tackles stockholm syndrome, which shown in the episode is really hard to let go or understand. Someone out there has explained this in much better detail that I could, but this is why it’s my favorite episode in UA.

I'd probably say it's the best put together episode in UA, at least in terms of telling a cohesive narrative in a TV episode, and one that doesn't rely on cheap filler content (like superfluous fights).

I said it on the Ultimate Kevin breakdown and I'll say it again. With some tweaks this episode could've worked wonderfully in that arc, give Ben and Gwen some time alone to reflect on the situation, especially Gwen, since she never got to come to terms with the fact that her boyfriend became a monster (perfectly paralleled with the plot of this episode).
Hell, I'd argue that at some point it *WAS* supposed to be part of that arc (since Kevin not being in this episode is extremely odd) but they couldn't finish the episode on time or something. I have no proof, but it just fits too well.

this also could have led to a very natural segway of Ben reflecting on how he initially responded to Kevin and was more ready to kill him than his other villains. Then they could naturally transition to Ben agreeing with Gwen to work to save Kevin and have him be a lot more compassionate in their dealings before turning Kevin back. The story beat of “You don’t have to be an alien to be a monster.” Vs losing control over his abilities and sacrificing his humanity to save all reality and getting abandoned and attacked by everyone for it. Gwen was virtually the only person who stuck by his side. Scenes like him getting stopped at his mom’s house and not being allowed to see her because of his appearance and uncontrollable nature was heartbreaking. His whole world was shattering before him because he made a choice to save the universe and everyone treated him like a monster to be put down (again barring Gwen). Its the fact that Ben was more serious and ready to take Kevin down than deal with Greg. Its part of the reason I will partly always hate UAF Ben.

Eh, good point honestly, however maybe the injury simply transferred to Swampfire in a way that prevented him from healing the injury, like maybe when he transformed into Swampfire whatever controls his ability to re-claim limbs was damaged since Ben's normal arm was damaged, like if Swampfire has lost the arm in the episode he wouldn't have been able to pick it up and reconnect it since the "thing" that allows Swampfire to reconnect his lost limbs would be damaged just like the bone in Ben's hand. That's just me speculating tho so who knows? Maybe Ben totally could have grown a new arm or healed the one he had while in alien form and didn't think about it, or maybe the Ultimatrix takes a "snapshot" of Ben's physical health before transforming and turns him back into whatever state he was in before transforming regardless of the damage present, which would mean Ben would've still had the broken arm even if he actively healed the damage while transformed. That idea probably makes the most sense to me since the Ultimatrix isn't perfect by any means, especially compared to the Prototype/Re-Calibrated Omnitrix.

a minor thing that I always enjoyed about this episode, I love how Nesmeth has a suit of armor that can take down Eatle with very little effort, the same alien that was strong enough to give Diagon-enhanced Vilgax trouble.
imagine if when Vilgax came to try and conquer the Earth in season 3 of Alien Force Captain Nemesis showed up and just beat the snot out of Vilgax while wearing this thing, wouldn't that be anti-climatic?

I love this episode so much. When I saw it after rewatching UA for the first time a while back, I was FLOORED that this episode got as dark as it did. It really felt like this was the creators doing their part to get as dark as they could get away with in a time where they were getting increasingly pushed to be lighter and campier. It felt like a stark return to the grimmer atmosphere of the early Alien Force seasons. But it's not just the fact that it is dark that's why I love it. There's a stark difference between darkness and maturity, and I think this episode dips far more into the "mature" camp, where it treats the situations it depicts, and the relationship between Nesmith and Nocturne as legitimately mature.
I totally agree with the others that say that this episode deserves a full breakdown and analysis. If not by Kuro, then can someone get Implicitly Pretentious to do so, because God this episode deserves a legit essay about it.

Captain Nemesis is a great villain for Ben and the emotional abuse displayed in this episode is really fucked up and authentic.
