Thank You!! This fixed my issue on the G4! I totally forgot I had a kirby g4 in my basement & have been using crappy plastic vacuums for a few years (the kirby stopped turning on & I couldn't figure it out back then). Fast forward a few years & I decided to retry fixing the kirby after another plastic vacuum crapped out. Luckily I had a multimeter because it turned out to be the cord! It only had around 1.5V coming out the plug in end. I thought I had everything all squared away today once the new cord arrived but no. Once in drive it quickly & forcefully ran over my foot! 😂 Thanks to your video it's now working amazing! Appreciate ya!!
So glad I could help get you G4 working again to get the quality and value you paid for in your kirby vacuum. Thankyou for awesome comment and support of my channel really appreciated 👍🔔
Nailed it! Replaced my broken switch and made the reassemble mistake as described above. Corrected with the aid of your detailed video...if you are ever in the Chicago area I owe you a Portillos Italian Beef Sandwich!

Hallelujah, it works! Thank you, thank you for the video. It would have cost me hundreds of dollars to get it fixed and now thanks to your videos, I can work on it myself. Problem is I now have 2 extra screws I need to find where they go. I'll take your advice next time and use some way to better organize the screws as I take them out. Again thank you!!

Awesome! I used your other video to put the drive switch back in, and while I remember lining up those pins, I kust have knocked them back out! Quick easy fix. Thank you for the solution!
9/8/2022. Thank you so much! Great video. After trying twice I finally found your video. You are helping so many people. Thanks for taking the time to post. Hope good things come to you.
I put in a new tech drive on my G6 2000, took over and hour to put in. 😵 At the end it was the gray cog that was preventing it from seating properly in the vacuum's chassis. When I replaced it with the original white cog it all fit perfectly. Just wondering if you ever had this issue? Since obviously the gray cog was a tiny bit too large. And yes it was a tech drive supposedly for a G6!
Good evening, I have a quick question. I’m new to Kirby and was gifted a used Sentria 2. My question is, when in neutral and the vacuum is off; when I push it, it clicks as it rolls. Is this normal? Just wanted to make sure I don’t try to fix a problem that doesn’t exist. New subscriber, thank you.
Happy to help The clicking is the drive neutral , I have a easy repair video to help you . Thanks again for comment and support. Here is link to video to help you ruclips.net/video/lt4DjSFbS6g/видео.html
I don't get how this happened without having taken it all apart like you have to fix it. I don't have the right tools for this but when I get them at least I have this video to reference.
@@KirbyEnthusiast maybe you can send me the tutorial on how to make sure I don't screw up this vacuum again because since purchasing it Kirby has sprung town..probably because of covid. I can't even buy belts or bags
I have just put my G7 diamond edition back together and following your instructions made sure the parts meshed correctly but I was confused when trying it I had forward but no reverse. A bit of a panic until I realised the wire for the hi lo switch was in the wrong place and stopping the handle pulling backwards.
The handle pivot plate on my G4 doesn't slide freely, is there anything I can do about it without removing it, I did notice when looking on ebay for a replacement that there is a spring underneath, could that have seized up or rusted do you think? It doesn't look like there is much more to this part than that. Also, when I do get it working, it will either fly across the room in forward, fly across the room in reverse, or no drive at all, I guess that's probably as a result of the plate not moving. I don't think I've connected it to the fork wrong, it's different to how yours is in the video. Yours slides over one of the fork prongs, whereas the G4 is like a wheel that sits in between the two fork prongs.
I did this repair and the vacuum still goes the wrong way... I replaced the power box as the original died, I actually did have the issue you showed where the piece was not sitting correctly but that did only stopped it from constantly moving. I have a feeling something is wired wrong...
Would that slide being off centered cause the drive to click a bit when engaged , and only if pushing or pulling ? had everything stripped down , cleaned out all the gunk in and around the switch , axel , etc . As it wasn’t disengaging the transmission all the way .. once I got it all back together I put it in drive and ran it across the floor everything works as it should with no noise .. but when I got everything back together it makes a lite clicks noise when engaged, but only when being pushed or pulled and it’s more prominent the faster it’s pushed/pulled ,, the only thing I didn’t do is open the case on the trans cause there was no evidence I actually needed to .. any thoughts ? It’s the g6/g2000 limited edition
@@KirbyEnthusiast yes . The only thing I didn’t do was open the transmission case … it functions perfectly outside of the vac ,. No noise or anything..
@@KirbyEnthusiast only thing I can think of is maybe one of the gears inside transmission isint functioning correctly.. not 100 % how those gears function between forward and reverse . But again it works flawlessly in hand rolling on floor
@@danielmason1326 there are 2 clutches in the transmission. I have a strip down pt1 and service part 2. Here’s the link it should help really easy to do ruclips.net/video/J19b5kEMwJg/видео.html
@@KirbyEnthusiast thank you, I didn’t see a tear down video of the trans on your channel, must of over looked it , but did get into that early today, got all it back Together and tho it seems to be a little smoother operating , it’s not any quieter ,,, I guess it’s more of a whine then clicking noise at this point , so cleaning the neutral switch did help with that

Yes the cogs are different from G3 to G7 from what I remember. I had to change cog on g4 tech drive I replaced as had newer cog
I wish they could be more consistant!😑

pivot assemble bearings may need regreasing as they dry up over the years
I checked everything you showed but the top part with the 2 bigger screws that the handle pushes into wolnt move back and forth it’s like it froze up.
The adjust screw to the left has been tightened down to much or the roller bearing on that part need regressing 👍🛎️❤️
I did that to mine luckily I seen it before I put it together. i sent this earlier but I guess it did not go through
It’s a real pain when you’ve put it all back together to have to strip back down again for a simple mishap. 👍👍

Makes it a lot easier to push only takes 2lb of pressure to push with tech drive on
