I have had my K6 for just shy of a year (by 11 days) and I used it daily (4-6 shots a day) for six months. My zero-point shifted, a lot, like 19 clicks over that time. The rubber is getting loose and the O-ring that connects the lid to the handle has given out (no big deal). Now, the zero has not shifted any since then and that happened over the first few months before settling in. Functionally, it still works as it always has. I think if I were to buy another hand grinder and was going to use it heavily, I'd spend more to get better finishing so long as they were more likely to hold up over time. However, since going electric I don't use the hand grinder for anything other than travel and decaf, lol.
As an aside, for pour over (which I rarely drink myself) I still reach for my C2. Idk why, I just like the way it feels better in use, lol. And I don't ever change the settings so that isn't really a concern.
Anyway, I still think the K6 is a good value. I can still pull a better tasting shot if I use the K6 than I can with the ESP but the ESP is just so much more convenient.
Thank you for comparing, as always and hope you are doing well!
Thank you for watching and sharing your experience. I will probably sell my K6 soon but it was a very pleasant surprise especially in this price range.
great video btw! infectious energy
Thx for watching. It is all because of caffeine 😁
I have a K6 just for pour over, so my settings very rarely change by more than a couple of clicks either way - as you say Jack its an absolute steal for the price. Buy it & use the hundred quid saved to buy some nice coffee ;)
Thx for sharing your experience. Nice grinder to have indeed.
What range of clicks are you using for pour over ? I have a V60
@@rakimakiyoyo I use a Kalita wave so might be slightly different, but I find a rough starter is one full rotation from 0 burrs touching & then to the 20 mark gets me in the ball park for a 3:30 brew time
@@rakimakiyoyo good starting point for myself s 2 full rotation. See how coffee behaves and adjust from there. Obviously it depends on coffee, recipe and so on.
¿clicks number para v60 o chemex ?
Great video.
Thx for watching!
Glad to see you used coffee from my country.... btw i Was really shoked to see their burrs are like 95% identical... I have the K6 and for me it shines more on Espresso than pour over those 16 micron steps are a big help to dial espresso, but for PO sometimes is frustrating twisting and find the right setting, but one you get it is great... bbbbuuuuut then you move the setting accidentally 💀... anyway is a great grinder, it punches above its league....
Next on my list is Timemore S3
Thx for watching and sharing your experience.
I will be comparing Timemore C3 with 1Zpresso Q Air soon.
I have K6 for a time for my Picopresso. As you said it iis very good choice especially considering the price. It is very well made, very solid and very large 48mm conical burr. No need to give double price only for brand reputation.
Agree with you on that. And you reminded me I should record something about my picopresso.
@@mycoffeeshow111 That would be very good. Waiting👍🏻
@@barskuleli8612 I have one where I was comparing it with La Pavoni but was not happy with the quality of the video and never released it. It is difficult to record the actual espresso flow from below. Last time my camera ended up covered with coffee 😛
@mycoffeeshow111 Ahah :)) Maybe you can put Picopresso to the edge of some table and put lower camera tripod to take video. Or maybe you can use a good cellphone camera only for espresso flow scene...
@@barskuleli8612 thx for the tips.
My K6 has a real problem about bearings getting rusty. It can take only a few months to notice it clearly, sooner if you usually do RDT. I'm sending it back to Amazon after getting no support from Kingrinder..
Thx again for the info. I will keep an eye on this.
Gotta be careful when watching your channel Jack, now I want a K6 eventhough I already have a JMax and Jx Pro 😂😂😂
K6 is really good for the money but it looks like you already have some nice ones.
So, KINGrinder K6 produce better coffee for espresso and pour over, better than Timemore C3S ESP Pro?
There are soo many Timemore grinders it is hard to keep up with them. K6 produces tastier coffee than my C3 but I don’t have Pro version so can’t be sure.
You could make more videos about the k ultra
I have done a lot of them already but what would you like to see?
Thanks for the review. Can you please compare the k6 with the c3 also c3 vs the new s3 😅
Thx for watching. C3 would be great if you are looking for great value for money but overall K6 would be my choice.
K6 works like a dream for my v60
Niche Zero for espresso
Seems like a nice combo. Have you tried it for espresso?
@@mycoffeeshow111 I might have to this weekend
I’ll post back
This is the comparison I was looking for. I have a K6 but I have a hard time to dial into it and find the sweet spot for the v60. I think there's a lot of fines maybe? And last week it started to smell like burned rubber. I tried cleaning it but the smell still there. The fact that we can't disassemble the outer burr makes me think that some old coffee is stuck there and causing the smell. Any tips for that?
Thx for watching I was happy with its performance for pour overs but I use flat bottom brewers.
Are you positive the smell is from the inside of the grinder not the rubber outside? I haven’t used it much outside my videos but haven’t noticed any issues yet.
@@mycoffeeshow111 Yeah, from the grinder. I took the rubber off a while ago. I can feel it in the cup and from the burrs
@@vitorg.delduque367 very strange. I will keep my eye on it next time I grind with it. Someone mentioned rusty bearings- could this be an explanation?
@@mycoffeeshow111 I have a friend who own a rusty k6. He used RDT. Mine looks fine (the bearings) and I don't RDT with the k6. I think it can be old coffee stuck somewere. Great grinder, but being able to fully disassemble it it's a point for the 1zpresso over the k6
kultra not available in the US
Really? Since when? Maybe it just a temporary shortage?
The K6 & J Series share the same burr set (all arounder burr) Likewise, the K4 & K Series grinders share a burr set (more suited for espresso). Backstory is Kin Grinder created by prior 1zpresso individuals. Grinders are more than just a burr set, so can yield unique results. Fit & finish may make for a more pleasant experience, thus a more pleasing cup 😊
Thx for all the info. I always considered J series as espresso grinders and would expect them to be similar to K4 rather than K 6.
@@mycoffeeshow111 K4 & J-series are espresso centric. K6 & K-series are all-arounders that produce less fines.
5.5 to 6 for filter with k ultra... maybe i need to try to adjust. im at 7.2-7.8 and it works well for me....
Maybe some people can comment their settings for filter (eg V60) below?
Interesting. Do you use it for espresso as well. I noticed they recommend 3 for espresso but I oscyllate around 2. For pour over for this particular video I ended up on 6.2 as was aiming for 2and a half minutes total time. For v60 I would probably go coarser
@@mycoffeeshow111 After the video I tried to grind finer for filter and im really happy with the results! I learned that there is a much bigger range for filter than I thought there is before.
I also just got a Profitec Go as my first espresso machine last weekend, this is why I waited with my answer. For 18g in 45g out in 25-30 seconds with the default Profitec basket and light roasted coffees im around 2.7-3.1. Im sure my shots still far away from perfect so that wont mean that much.
Can you tell me, if you notice bigger changes in extraction time (with mutiple shots at the same settings) by using a hand grinder as with an electric one?
@@Bauderjoh thx for sharing your experience and congratulations on your new machine.
There is a reason why I don’t fancy recording hand grinders videos. Shots time vary on the same settings alot and is difficult to dial both to the same time. Keeping steady speed can help.
I use a plastic v60 02 with Cafec Abaca filters (I really like those filters for everything). K ultra settings for me: Feel free to increase or decrease ratios by 1 and pours to match your taste
Dark: "1/14 Ratio" 6.5 - 7/ 185F-195F/ 5 equal pours.
Medium: "1/15 Ratio" 6 - 6.5/ 195F-205F/ 5-6 equal pours.
Light: "1/16 Ratio" 5.5 - 6.2/ 205F - 212F/ almost always 6 equal pours.
Make sure to calibrate the zero point every few days. My K ultra grounds were good from the start, but it is getting insanely even grounds with almost no fines after using it for a few months. These are good grind and temp starting points, but do what you think tastes best, some light roasts tasted best with a 4 minute extraction to me. I don't know if it's wrong or right, but it tastes the best. So it's right for me.
I'm at 9-9.5 for 20-30 grams
Shots were running faster / needed to be ground finer with old beans not because of less fines but because older grounds will swell less when the water hits them. Nifty eh?
Agree, but still, more fines would slow it down a bit I think. Or at least the shots would look better 😛
@@mycoffeeshow111 yes this is true, but fines amount doesn't change with age
@@ihavenospacebar231 I was referring to both of those grinders producing less fines in general, which doesn’t help with good looking extraction especially with not the freshest coffee.
@@mycoffeeshow111 ugly extractions are often the tastiest I find
@@ihavenospacebar231 very true indeed. That is why filter basket producers experiment with uneven extraction.
1zpresso looked great but I got confused as to whether it has a magnetic catch-cup. So I kept looking and ended up with the K6 for $99 on Amazon. It has a screw-on cup, way more secure. The possibility that 1zpresso had a magnetic cup motivated me to look around some more until I settled on the K6.
Interesting point of view. I think I like magnetic cup but wouldn’t mind if the magnets were a tad bit stronger.
How do you like the coffee from K6?
@@mycoffeeshow111 It took my Gaggia CP to the next level. I was going to wait for the DF-54 ($229) but decided I did not need another big-ish appliance. I figured the magnets would not be strong enough and would likely degrade a little bit over time.
oh you are lucky to get a k6 they just got banned from eu :(
Really? Why? Maybe I should get few bags of them, smuggle to France and make fortune.
@@mycoffeeshow111 hahah its coming back soon they got sued because of the handle shape just like they did with 1zpresso. probably by comandante
Did Commandante sue them too?
@@coreycannon4511 hahaha. Great answer and it could be true.
they can be imported with aliexpress

Timemore S3 vs 1zpresso Jmax 🫡
I sold my J grinder long time ago but it would be superior for espresso. For pour overs S3 could win.
