BEST Printer? Bambu Lab A1 vs Artillery X3 Pro

- Опубликовано: 29 сен 2024
- I compared two very different, but surprisingly similar speedy bed slingers in a head-to-head speed benchy 3D print-off! The Artillery Sidewinder X3 Pro at 300mm/s vs the VERY popular Bambu Lab A1 at 500mm/s.
These machines although priced significantly different, performed so well, I think you will have trouble guessing which printer printed which benchy! Can you guess? Let me know in the comments which printer did the best!
Correction: The A1 uses a single Z motor

I personally said A was the X3 because the faster you print the more you need filament to cool faster and heat up faster and since the filament used is not HS filament it makes sense for a lower speed to perform better.
That's a great guess!
Id like to see both machines operating at the same speed and checking quality. As soon as i you said the sidewinder was 30p and bambu was 500 my first thought was the nicer one was going to be the sidewinder.
I didn’t run them at the same speed, because that means the better printer has to be slowed down to give the other a chance.
Hey, on my A1, there is a lot of abrasion on the y-Axis rails, do you maybe have a similar issue. Or is it just my Machine?
Would be nice, if you could check on your printer if you have the same problem.
Oh no! I would reach out to their support right away. I am not getting anything like that with the ones here.
Isn't multi-color attractive?
Heck yes! The AMS changed our industry forever.
The speed is worth twice the price.
Thanks for sharing!
I think a came from the bambu
A lot of people guess that too!
A
Nice!
What I like about printers now than then is that they’re being designed to have hidden wire harnesses and to fit in the normal home than just for hobbyists
Appliance like for sure! I like it too.
LM I have to say I really appreciate your video's. I'm still fairly new to the 3D printing community (started this year) and I really enjoy watching your take and your advocacy for new people coming into the community. I'm not on Twitch or I would support you there too, but I can't say it enough we need more people like you in the community, not more gatekeepers.
This is such an awesome comment, thank you for this! Made my day. I really think it is important to be kind and welcoming. Too much negativity in the world, and we don't need it here. Thank you!
This is exactly why I use his affiliate links when buying. I enjoy his take and content and enthusiasm so I support the channel whenever I can.
The S3 benchy holds up better on the overhangs. Pretty impressive. I would bet you could adjust both slightly and get even better results at the same speed with small adjustments.
Agree 100%! I am super impressed with the X3 and of course the Bambu is a better machine, just more expensive, as it should be.
For me, A is the better print, so the X3 Pro is quite good (even though slower than the A1). And for that price point - I might consider it as my first 3D printer (sometime this year, maybe in autumn). Also, what you said about the X3 Pro is encouraging (and I don't need WiFi). Thanks for this comparison!
That price is crazy isn’t it?!?
Im thinking about getting my first one too. I was looking at the bambo a1 mini, but now I just dont know. If you by this one, pls shsrw, thank youuu
@@ritaruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu The Bambo A1 mini seems to be really good value for money, and the perfect 3D printer to start with - but a bit small. The "normal" A1 is already a bit expensive. So the X3 Pro is still high up on my wishlist. And your comment is perfectly timed, since I forgot to write down which one I had in mind and where to find this video … 😂 Still some time until I can actually buy a 3D printer for various, non-monetary reasons; autumn might be the actual time, and I keep the link to your comment, so that I can "tell my story" about whichever I buy and my experiences!
I have an a1 on the way and I'm excited to try it myself!
Congrats!!!
Thanks for your work but I think it would be better to have the same axis prints on both for better comparison. What do you think?
Default gcode, I can't change the orientation of it without reslicing it, which defeats the purpose of the test. I wanted to print what the engineers decided best represented their printer.
@@LoyalMoses Sorry, my bad. That makes sense, thank you. All the best and a happy new year.
Got the X3 for just 96 euro's on a recent deal, cant be more happy with it! Great video to put into perspective how much value you get for the money.. Insane in my opinion
WOW! Great price! And thank you, I appreciate the kind words!
using the included speed benchy literally voided your whole comparison, of course the slower benchy will always looks better that's just a given.
it would have been objectively better to grab the model and slice it on the standard profile on each machine.
or for a true quality comparison you would have to slice the model with the same settings.
up
100% disagree.
The engineers at each of these companies sliced their benchies to best represent their machines at their respective 300mm/s and 500mm/s speeds.
These are the results - and I think any intelligent person can see the difference between them and understand how speed plays a part in that.
but it should either be same speed for both or same time for both
If Artillery sales out stock we all know who cause it 😊 stellar comparison!!! I do wonder how they perform when printing slower. My A1 when printing PETG needs to be slowed down so I print around 45mms and just has excessive ringging. Mainly due to that speed demon ripping across the bed and knocking the print off the bed, simple tears the print a part.
haha! Thank you for that. It really is a great machine and at this price point, it is a serious budget contender.
So I'm not trying to troll, but genuinely curious. We all know there's a correlation between speed and quality. I'm curious about the results of a benchy sliced at the same speed and settings, set in the same orientation. I assume you printed these at max settings based off of a percentage of the printer's recommended settings. what happens when you disregard the settings and both are set to an equal test? I feel that would give more valid results because it would be a test of the machine and not a recommendation.
Thanks for the comment! These are the default sliced models that shipped with the printers. I simply powered the printer on and pressed print.
If you slowed down the Bambu it would no doubt be better. The engineers pushed a little too hard to get the speed up and print time down, because the Bambu obviously is capable of far more incredible prints.
Is it a hobby for prints or a printer. Thats the only question i have. I went with the A1 because most have expressed its pretty much plug and play. I already had the headaches with enders. Im over it.
I think that is a very important question for new people! Do they want to enjoy what comes out of the pinters, or tinkering and modding the printer. The A1 is an amazing machine! Congratulations!
If the X3 was out when I was initially getting into printing, that probably would have been the best entry point for me. I'm hoping options like that open the door to so many more people to learn about and enjoy 3D printing.
Definitely, the tech is moving so fast in our industry that it is hard to have the latest and greatest - and yes, this is going to bring a new wave of people into our space for sure.
Its probably due to cooling issues, the bambu lab a1 mini has good cooling but for a speed benchi its not sufficent enough maybe if you slow down the a1 the print results could be better.
I think slowing it down would be the right choice, it would look far better.
I was kind of rooting for A to be the print made on the Artillery. Only just developed an interest in 3D printing and now I'm ~ THAT close ~ to pulling the trigger on an X3. That print looks top class. Like the colour too 👍
The x3 looks incredible fir the price😮
I like the hull of B but the superstructure of A. What do I win :P
You win a thumbs up on your comment!
It is impressive and both are obviously brilliant machines. However Id like to also see a side by side of them printing on tje same axis at the same speed and obviously you can slow them down to improve quality. That would then give a fair comparison.
The default gcode determines the orientation, we'll have more comparisons later of models that we slice for sure.
It's a silly and invalid comparison IMO, as the slower machine will always end up with the better print due to the wrong filament profile being used during slicing. The models should have been resliced with the actual settings for that particular filament in order for the results to make any sense.
Thanks for the discovery, was looking at the ender s1 pro or Neptune 4 or bambulab.
But the x4 pro has everything, including Kipper. Insane !
The A1 benchy is better on the front, but oof, the overhangs on the back. I can't give up quality for speed. That being said, I'm sure it can be fixed with some slicing adjustments.
I agree with you 100%! I would rather have quality over speed. The A1 is not a bad machine, it was only this benchy at this speed.
Great Video! The printers on both looked amazing! if you look closely you can see the blemishes but nothing a little fine tuning cant fix! Great printers for both price points!
Thank you!!!
If your budget is 450, 2 X3 Pros 😅
They could print slower, even better quality and same amount of parts over time as A1. If A1 was currently available, that is.
thank you for the interesting comparison, continue it is very much needed.
You got it!
Unfortunately I was not surprised and picked the bambu print, recognizing the terrible finish at the top of the openings and overhangs. Ive been using the p1s and get the same disfigured results in those types of areas.
Awwwww.......
The hull line is something that a lot of people picked out!
There both very close in quality and I own a Bambu A1 Combo as well as 2 Creality CR-10s one is a new CR-10 Smart Pro. After getting the A1 I'm fast becoming another Bambu fanboy and will probably get another Bambu printer soon.
Such good machines!
the ams option+ams may worth the price for some people. testing with a sparkle pla can hide a bit of the pure quallities of the printers. both of worth the price in my opinnion based on the benci alone, but you may need to try more complex objects.
other than that, great video. and can you post the speeds of the bencis?
I'll double check the speeds, they are just the defaults, I'll get them when I get back into the studio. Join our discord, I can post it there.

Great video and comparison! The Artillery Sidewinder X3 Pro is a serious contender. I'm all in with Bambu and their ecosystem. I've had my A1 for nearly two weeks and it's been cranking out flawless prints non-stop. The only problems I've had so far were my own fault. A P1S will be my next purchase.
Surprisingly good machine isn't it? And yes, I agree with you and Bambu - the ecosystem is the best we have ever seen and I absolutely love their machines. P1S is AWESOME!
I’m guessing B is Bambu, they always seem to have a prominent layer line the same place lower hull.
WOW! A lot of people figured that out from that same hull line!
dude, there are so many great 3D printers out there these days. I have my printer, but I still love seeing what companies come up with.
I KNOW! AND I LOVE IT!
I bought an X3 Pro on sale for $119 and wish I hadn't, I can't see how they were worth the original price. Can't upgrade the firmware as per their instructions, Print quality on the first 3-4 layers is terrible (elephant's foot with elephant foot compensation set up to 0.25) with Bambu Matte PLA. The bolt on the Y belt tensioner hits the belt before the belt gets to a slightly tight position. Ugh, if this was my first printer I would have nothing more to do with 3D printing.
Oh no! I am so sorry to hear that.
Bambu a1 has single z motor. I think you said it had dual.
Interesting. I assumed it had two z motors.
THANK YOU! I've made a correction in the video at that part. I had read the wiki docs and they used plural "motors" when describing the Z-axis, but down below they switch to speaking singular about the motors. I asked Bambu and they confirmed to me that it is single Z.
Both prints have pluses and minuses compared to the other, and the fact you used factory gcode makes it a bit awkward of a comparison anyway, especially since Bambu optimizes their gcode for speed rather than quality. I felt like print A came out slightly better overall but I'd still go with a Bambu over a Sidewinder just because of the Bambu ecosystem (which I'm already fully invested in because of my X1C).
That was definitely the point I was trying to make. You can tell the engineers at Bambu wanted to show off the speed. The A1 is an amazing machine, and the ecosystem is like nothing we have ever seen before.
I think A looked better, still don't know which one is which.
A lot of us think A looks better too!
@@LoyalMoses I actually edited my comment to say that I thought that the A1 was worth twice the price difference because I was under the impression it was one the left but then when I got to then end of the video I re-edited it lol. I'm just going to try and save up money for the flagship model they're planning for this year and hope I can afford it lol.
The X3 pro is for sale currently at $179
Awesome!
I thought the A1 just had one Z motor?
Yes, you are correct - I updated the video with a note - I reached out to Bambu and they confirmed it is a single Z, and their documentation was incorrect.
bro you are missing the main point. some of us just wanna have the part ready and not mess with the printer. like while im doing my projects i want the printer to just print i dont wanna spend damn 6 days to figure out thy it decided not to print properly. thats the main thing all the other printer companies are not getting.
You should watch a few more of my videos, I started the anti-tinkering movement! I 1000% agree with you!
@@LoyalMoses will doo, I learned a good amount from your vids 🫣
Could not agree more, it truly sucks when have to fuck with the printer and figure out why it’s not working 😩😩😩😩😩
My next investment is Bambu A1 or mini as the A1 is out of stock
Definitely thought "A" was from the Bambu Lab, impressive job by the x3 Pro. So much so im looking to get it as my first 3D printer. At 180$ looks like best buy for money. Did the discount code expire for extra 20 off? Also is there any other printer better for a similar price?
Around that price point there are a few! The Bambu Lab A1 mini, but it is smaller - Creality has the Ender 3 V3 SE, which is a printer that has been doing well.
These prices are just so crazy right now. Almost unbelievable what we can get for under $200.
If it wasnt for multi color filament sustem id provably go for the sidewinder never heard of it before and my a1 is already here jsut have to go pick it up. Btw moses i figured you were one of the youtubets that rewlly got me hooked on the a1 combo in your recent videos so i purchased through your affilate link. ❤Cant wait to start printing
The AMS really changed out industry, and this is a huge factor when deciding on machines now.
Buy 220 dollar 💵💵💵 get good quality and parts easy to replace or modded,b
Bambu im going buy industrial grade with same price
Cool!
I had A as clearly the best.
Yup! 💜
I saw a similar test Bamboo A1 Vs Prusa MK4 with the same result, sligtty faster in the A1 but beter quality on Prusa. The real difference is the multicolor print. So if you need the multicolor Bambulab is the right one. If you are on thight budget you may get another one.
I think they could have had a better benchy if they just slowed it down a bit. The AMS is the real game-changer in our industry for sure.
After watching several reviews of the Bambu A1, I got the impression that this works well straight out of the box. Can the same be said of the Artillery X3 Pro?
The A1 is of course the better all around printer, but it is more expensive. The X3 works great, easy to use, setup is easy, it just lacks the ecosystem behind it of course. But I think at this price point, the X3 is an amazing value.
Great video! Im curious what you would recommend to a noob getting into printing. Ideally i want to stay in the $300 ish range. But the A1 is very intriguing. Would say its worth the extra cost? Seems like a better option for plug and play vs some of the other options. Specifically i have been looking at the ankermake M5c, Neptune 4 plus and Neptune 4 pro.
A1 or A1 mini would be a great machine, best experience ever.
a is the artillery x3 pro
Great guess!
I wonder how it would be if they were set to take about the same time. The benchy loaded by standard in the Bambu is very optimized for speed and not quality. More of a marketing stunt that anything. So I'm wondering given the same time how would the two compare.
The Bambu is the superior machine, there is no question about that. This was only showing what was loaded on each machine by default.
Thing with Artillery is their service is abysmal and does not even deserve to be called service imo. It takes ages for anything to get done, you will talk to ten different people who will all suggest the same nonsensical solutions that do not have anything to do with your actual problem and getting parts takes even longer. Without the tenacity of our local partner I would probably not have gotten to a solution at all. And then after the restructure they dropped him, screwing him over in the precess and from what I have heard it is even harder to get problems solved now. I will not support a company like this any more, wich is sad as their products are pretty good (when they work, wich according to the amount of failure reports online is not a given) and I would love to have another brand delivering a good option for the hobby..
Sorry to hear about your bad experience! The language barrier can definitely be troublesome, you aren't the first to report that for sure!
Not trying to be a Bambu fan boy but they calibrate those prints with their filament. It should be resliced with polymaker settings or generic pla.
They both had to deal with filament that wasn't theirs.
I was pretty convinced that A was the bambu! It has much better deffinition on the letters and less deformation on the bridges
It was a fun little video!
At 5:17 i was shure, that the left one is the Bambu-Benchy because ist had the same bottom-surface as my X1-prints. But i was wrong!
I dont know why, but the all the precompiled objects on the bambu printers have less quality than prints via Bambu Studio. At leas the bottom Surface is 10 times better. The A1 should print at the same quality level as X1 and P1S but my X1-Benchy looks so much nicer.
Please print another benchy via Bambu Studio an compare it.
I knew when they finished and I looked at them closely, that it was going to trick people! I was very surprised. We'll definitely do another follow up video with some sliced models. The A1 is an amazing machine, and I think people already know that. I really wanted to share that the X3 Pro is pretty dang amazing.
@@LoyalMoses The quality and speed of the new printer generation ist really amazing. Auto bedleveling has become a standard feature and I like the POE Shields. The X3 Pro has a Allmetall-Hotend which ist great for printing many types of filament. For only 219 Euro - Wow!
A is better 😁
I think so too!
A is A1!!!
Nice!
Not a pure comparison of printing object.
Is the all process of the printing experience ( including settings and slicing ) offered by the A1 printer is twice better than the other ?
I think it was an awesome comparison! The default gcode that the engineers decided best represented their machines, and these are the results!
There's so much push for the "appliance" style printer/printing. Look forward to seeing what else is around the corner!
Me too, these machines are just getting better and better!
Hello , i have a k1 , i woul love to buy the A1 combo , it's can be a good combo between the K1 and the A1 ? Thanks
The K1 is really nice, I like it a lot! I think having both machines would be awesome.
Fake!
Was the AI and CGI that obvious?!
sir, can you please suggest me which one is better... ''Anycubic Kobra 2 plus'' OR ''Sidewinder X3 Plus''... please
I would likely choose the Sidewinder if it were my money!
@@LoyalMoses ❤️😘
Artillery Sidewinder X4 PRO 319 $ 500mm/s
Yup, different price points for different budgets. Some people can't afford $300, or $500.
Paying more for a printer is not necessary equal to quality. I believe Elegoo gave you better printers compared to Creality for less price. *Probably most the brands now. That been said, I just got the A1 with the AMS and so far I love it. For the price is not the print speed only, extra features, software, official page, gamera etc etc etc. All that for 400 or 550 (Combo). No brainer if you don't want deal with upgrades level etc. And this is my 4th FDM printer and I still use them all.
Most of the time you get what you pay for!
@@LoyalMoses in deed, at the same time some companies gave you a barebone printer for a big price just because the name. Is like getting filament, sometimes you get the 10.00 one and works sometimes it doesn't.
Since you're not using the same filament that the manufacturers would have used and had adjusted flow rate etc for, I don't think the manufacturer's gcode is any good to compare. Bambu's will probably have been sliced for their filament which in my experience prints much better at high speed than Polymaker PLA Pro. I love Polymaker but I have to tune a bunch of things for it to print as nice in my machines. I think it would be better to make a properly tuned filament profile for each machine you compare, then slice and go
That is precisely the reason for doing it this way! Out of the box, default print, with a well known fantastic quality filament, these are the results.
@@LoyalMoses but the results don't represent the machines (or the filament) this way.. for example Duramic PLA+ needs to be printed super slowly. If I compared an original Ender 3 to an X1 using that filament and the manufacturer provided gcode, the Ender 3 would easily win simply for printing slower. If you are going to use included models then you should also use included filament.
yeah the scan lines look alot nicer, i think imma go with this. thank you
😃
bambu lab is still not worth it for me.. the waste is to high we need a better solution and yes i have a bambu
It's not as bad as people want to believe it is.
A looks like being made by bambulab
Damn you played me !! :0
Oh!!!
Crazy isn’t it?!?
@@LoyalMoses not Bad at all 🗿
Really nice, I didn't expect this result, I thought it would be the other way around, great job artillery more competition is good for us customers thank you for this video 🤟
I'll be honest, when I started the prints, I didn't expect those results either. Such an awesome time to be in 3D printing.
It's a silly and invalid comparison IMO, as the slower machine will always end up with the better print due to the wrong filament profile being used during slicing. The models should have been resliced with the actual settings for that particular filament in order for the results to make any sense.
Wah thank you for bringing this up and I am correct ! I guess al the way from earlier that is from X3 Pro ! 🎉
Oh, you guess correctly?! AWESOME!
Hey, when is your review on SW X4 series coming ?
The A looks little better than the B i think 🇨🇾🤔
Yes, it does!
If the X3 is so good, why is the filament sensor disconnected?
Watch the other video.
Based off the ringing and a slight preassure advance problem so i think that b is bambu
Some people spotted that from the higher speed.
@@LoyalMoses jup.. but only because you made the picture super close.. and actually i like the X3 print way more i just think that bambu is owerhyped based of reviews on it..
Model A came from sidewinder
Nice!
My unit didn't had the thermal runaway protection enabled (X3 Pro). I hope they will fix it in next firmware update.
Oh really?!
Thats what you get with cheap ass printers. Safety mindset is non existent for those types of printers.
X3 did better but both are awful and need settings tweaked.
Awful for 15 and 18 minute benchies?! I don’t know about that.
According to u what is the best 3d printer in terms of speed, price and resolution of the prints?
The best machine right now for price and quality is going to be the A1 MINI from Bambu for $299 - smaller build plate, but most people don't print many large items. It's among the most advanced printers we have right now in the market.
@@LoyalMoses ty brotha
Love the surprise at the end.
Thanks! I think it surprised a lot of people.
@@LoyalMoses the „red line“ ( directly translated from German) of the movie was setup very well to surprise people at the end.
A for Artillery and B for Bambu ?
Great guess!
A came from Artillery X3
How'd you know!?
i saw your prints on x3 on your video before this one
Fantastic prints on either one. Wish there was a universal AMS for the Artillery
I sure hope they are working on one!
There are a couple of options that look fairly promising. Later in the year would be when these are available, so it should be interesting as I would expect Bambu Lab to introduce improved X1 and P1 options by then, hopefully with a much improved AMS implementation.
I think the X3 Pros is better just slightly
Awesome.
Choose A, but did not choose the correct printer.
Crazy wasn’t it?!
If they take significantly different times it's not a good comparison
I think it was a great representation of what each machine includes as a default print!
@@LoyalMoses
Are you using the default settings but not the right (in-house) material?
I'm sorry, but then it's not meaningful.
Either standard settings and original material.
Or same material, same time, same settings.
Compare the bambu to the ankermake please!
I have the AnkerMake here in a box, content coming soon!
I hate dragons print farms and trolls..
Those are 3 very specific things! 😆
B for Bambu. Both look great though.
Was it that obvious!? It only makes sense for B to be Bambu!
You may not have a mark 4 but you have four Marks...
I don't believe you, please name them all.
Obviously they're all named Mark.
B from A1 and A from Artillery X3 pro
Great guess!
I called it the artillery did amazing
Great guess!
what speed print haven bambulab and artillery ?
Sorry, I didn't understand.
@@LoyalMoses ok , sorry. what an printer speed both bambulab and artillery had.
I Heard that bambu has little problem with cooling, check with other filaments like ASA
It's really not meant for ASA, and there are plenty of other machines for that.
@@LoyalMoses benchy will do fine, trust me
Of course, printing ASA on a Prusa MINI works too.
@@LoyalMoses what I want to say is that higher temp polymers need less cooling, therefore, results on a1 will be better than the PLA which needs tons of cooling. Benchy is not an easy model to print at high speeds, layers are printed really fast. Artillery seems to print slower, therefore it has more time to cool down. Artillery seems to be a great 3d printer thought
I WAS a huge artillery fan, I've been swapping my fleet over to bambu. They drug their feet too long and didn't do much in the way of upgrading and it still has bed knobs(fail). The user groups are full of issues that are way worse than the old x1/x2 genius/pro. I personally wouldn't touch their new stuff with a 10 foot pole. It makes me sad because they were the best of the budget printers and highly underrated.
I was disappointed in the lack of updates with the X2 - times are changing, there is some serious competition now and companies will reduce the amount of reliance on community support - this is a good thing! I am excited for the future!
Possibly the 300mm/s on the X3 was part of why its print looks better than the A1. I want to get into 3DP, and there's so many printers it's almost impossible to choose one. I don't have a big budget and I want to print large parts for RC Vehicles. Maybe the X3 is what I should get.
I would choose the A1 for sure
No hate, but there will be a difference in quality based on the orientation of the print, a better comparison would be to put the orientation the same
Yes… I couldn’t, because they are default prints.
@@LoyalMoses ahh, that makes more sense
Honestly i used my A1 for a week now and it has printed some amazing benchys, different from your result maybe its just how you calibrate or maybe you didnt update it since when i recieved it, it needed a software update which makes the calibration work better and faster when i print the benchy it just works everything even in the overhang is printed in perfect circle im telling you FOR REAL!!
It is an amazing machine! Different results happen, this is why I printed it without editing or cutting. Filaments, speeds and temperature definitely play a part in the results.
x3 pro is better
I love how good these printers are becoming!
what is with the new x4 pro?
Klipper based, different price point - we'll have that here in the studio very soon!
Just sold my Sidewinder X2, after many many problems, everytime i would go to print, there was a new problem. Just ordered a new A1 with AMS
Oh no! Our Sidewinder X2 was great! I did a lot of awesome helmets with it. But... CONGRATULATIONS on grabbing an A1, you will LOVE IT!
Id like to see a comparison of the benchy's with the machines running at the same max speed... to see if the artifacts on the A1 are due to speed. Print quality, trumps speed when printing smallish functional prints.
This was just a test of the default benchy code. The A1 is the overall better machine for everything, but of course is twice the price.
