It seems like this kind of violence was kind of the norm for Chinese cartoons at the time. There was another very popular show from that era called Black Cat Detective, and it's APPALLINGLY violent. Animals getting shot, impaled, stabbed, beheaded, blown up, burned to death, you name it. The popular manhua of the era like Oriental Heroes were also quite violent, so I guess that was just the 'in' thing to do at the time.
I've never heard or seen this clip before. I understand why it's so violent. It's subtle, but since when did two fictional characters do a tandem impalement and decapitation? And what seems to be a children's show, nonetheless.
Kids shows are different in countries , depending if it's inappropriate or appropriate , it's just different laws for shows lol.
You see, while some people want kids movies to push the boundaries sometimes like old Disney with their dark villain deaths... this... this is a push TOO far!
This anime definitely looks like Osamu Tezuka's anime style, and if Tezuka did that, he wouldn't make it so violent, especially for children 💀

@ohjoshua67 yea judging by how graphic the scene was there was definitely some kids traumatized, but the scene was later edited out in a rerelease of all 13 episodes in high quality and was also edited out in the 2012 movie version that edits out violence and swearing (yes, there is actual swearing in this cartoon)
