As for the Chris Robinson Brotherhood, I knew they existed at the time, but I realized a month too late that they played a gig at a small venue only two miles from where I lived at the time. *slaps forehead*

They played a rinki-dink club near my house and I never knew until 2 weeks after. But yeah, I was so excited to discover these guys! And I was like, "Are they touring!!?? They are incredible!!" Then I read the news about Neil...OMG, I was gutted. he seemed like such a nice guy, why so unhappy inside!?? So as sad as it is, it kinda makes them even more amazing to me, they had lighting in a bottle and it was sadly taken away like so many other greats from the past...thx friend. PS: I went to see the Breeders a few months back, saw Chris down in the basement lobby guzzling beer with his wife during the opening act. I wish now that I had at least said "hello"..

I regretted that move almost immediately, and swore that I would not do that again. I saw Craig Chaquiso (Jefferson Starship guitarist) about a decade ago, and made sure I said something to him, and he appreciated that I even knew who he was.
Just saw them Sunday night in Syracuse in a bar no bigger than a goddamn closet. I was (and still am) a huge fan of the Black Crowes, that band's music got me through some seriously dark times. But this band ---- this band is something even more special, more magical. I've seen them twice in 3 months. if I didn't have a young family, I'd likely do a serious tour run. The first time I saw them, this past August in Vermont, I met the whole band -- including Chris. The man is as gracious as he is talented. It was an absolute pleasure meeting him.

His brother Rich along with Sven and Marc Ford are playing in a Black Crowes cover band called the Magpie Salute --- maybe you should stick to that.
if he was in it for the money, the crowes would still exist. he and his brother never got along, they both wanted to play very different styles of music. they both seem much happier now. i loved the crowes. theyll always be special! But the CRB have a vibe and feel thats completely separate and i suspect, and its UNREAL. This is a HAPPY group of musicians who have all made a LOT of money in the past. Now they make less money, but they are playing what makes them happy, in small venues in front of adoring fans. The CRB will roll on for ages. Not sure The magpie salute even makes it a couple more years. Theyre badly missing something. not saying its chris, but man the lineup just doesnt live up to the past achievements. and John Hogg sucks
