      I highly doubt it was stolen. If it was stolen, the driver wouldn't put the top down and go joy-riding in a busy area. Also, the car would be headed to a chop shop if it was stolen

    This isn't the first time this has happened. I remember in 68 or 69 there was a Dodge Charger and a Ford Mustang tearing up the streets there. It was all caught on camera. Disgusting!!

They made a film in the 50s or 60s about escaping car assassination attempts (I think it was a CA film?) and they said that the car can take a fair bit of ramming but still be able to drive away. So if this car is from that time period they may have been able to escape

      If it was a 442 it is really rare. It didn't have the right rear bumper or any emblems so it's hard to tell if it was a 442 or just a base Cutlass. Hopefully just a base car with nice paint and some fancy wheels.

    If you ever hear back, you're not likely to hear anything in the way of consequences. Hit and runs with no injuries are expected to be handled by insurance-- there is no police involvement beyond filing an electronic report. Unfortunately, I know this all too well. 😡

    Tried to show out on top of the cable car tracks. No hands and lost control. Tank top, shades, etc. Based on being a car guy it looks like he was out cruising with his lady and made a stupid decision.

    Why does this story go on about car break in? Has NOTHING to do with the event.
    UNLESS said license plate readers were effective. And the PD is quickly effective.
    Bet that Cutlass is now in a garage for two years statute of limitations. And the registered owner has already moved, quit their employment.
