Thanks for the video, the 4053 was not the issue with mine (plus mine actually puts out sound when active, but it's VERY quiet, need to boost like 30dB to hear it, controls affect the tone as they should). I'm getting some cables so I can try an audio probe, and a couple of the transistors I identified, do you know if it could also be the 74HCUO4D? I assume it's at least partially working since I get a signal, but don't know if they can break just partially.
I would still be suspicious of the 4053 if you haven't changed it already. Also there may be a couple of opamps on the control board. The chip you mentioned is probably a latching circuit to drive the bypass state. Hopefully the probe will help you see where it's going wrong!
@@jamesbennettmusic I did change it, however I got a solder bridge on two of the legs (pedal was completely quiet after that) and had to try many times with the iron and a pump to get that fixed (I did, and it's back to super quiet territory), which in theory could have fried the new chip too. But I'm leaning towards something else being the issue. Thanks for the reply!
Hey I know its been a while, but ive got one of the sculpture pedals here exhibiting the same issues, swapped out the 4053 chip and still the same any thoughts?
@jamesbennettmusic Hey so I don't have any real testing equipment for audio. But when switching to true bypass mode sound travels through (but Is just the bypassed signal no effects). When switching to the presumed buffered mode no sound, I've tested voltage on the 4053, and when switching modes the voltages do switch on the pins
@craigsmith303 yeah it's difficult without being able to measure what's going on. It could be a bad opamp chip, I've had that in a few pedals, but again you'd just be shotgunning replacement parts. You might get lucky!
@jamesbennettmusic yeah for sure, will look to get a scope at some point in the future so if you've got any recommendations! Good to know cheers for all the help, will do some more investigating and may just look at possibly swapping out the op amp anyways, sure it can't hurt
Nice seeing someone fixing smd pcb stuff. It’s hope for tons of broken mini pedals we’ll see in the near future.
Good information! Got the same problem. Guessing its the same faulty chip. Unfortunately i am not able to change it
Had the exact same issue. This helped a lot. Thank you!
Very good repair info thanks! (the original KLON is from the mid 90s ;))
Thank you, that date was a bit of second hand information to be honest but yeah, this has proved to be a nice little pedal so it was worth the repair!
Hi James! My NUX Rivulet Chorus is broken no effects even if the led lights turn on

Really like this pedal - but it died last night. Hope this helps
where were you picking these pedals up from? Ebay has some but most are workng used.
@@techgamer1597 eBay yep

were you able to measure / scope out a test tone actually coming through?
@jamesbennettmusic
