      No sir. 😂 Sorry, but to beat boss they will have a long way to go I think in proving their worth. Not saying their bad at all, but as far as perception I think they'll have to really prove their wares. 😀👍

      I don't think they're even close. Boss have been doing it for so long and so well (from a build point of view), that every other pedal is compared against that standard. How many other pedals from the 80's can you say are still working fine without being repaired? In terms of affordability, they're on the right track. NUX are bringing out some good affordable options. It's a great time to be a guitar player with options and not have to take out a second mortgage for gear..

      @@hoosierdaddy2308 yes they are, actually you are using some of NUX things if you use boss, ups i guess that is not for net..People don't like to know who is ghost building for who etc..Like Suhr guitars, or PRS that import things from asia and sell you expensive, wait again i'm saying things i shouldn't...

    I know this is an old post, but it just came across my feed and had to check it out.
    I have one of these on my NUX pedal board, just after the OD and Distortion on the Cerberus pedal, and it's a KILLER!
    This adds an element to the sound that is missing, and it's a good one. I have an original Centaur to compare it to, and the question is: Is it as good as the Centaur?
    I'll say this, it's close, but not an exact duplicate. It's not bad at all actually, and for the price, you'd be hard pressed to do better.
    Good video Leon!

    I tried out Nux around 2012/13 I guess, they were kinda new on the market. I got myself 2 stomp boxes and I was really disappointed, both broke down in a matter of 2 weeks and weren’t at all road proof. I called them up to tell them what was wrong with their pedals, they were very kind and send me replacements, however they too broke down soon and I didn’t bother wasting any more time. I really hope they have improved their QC by now, because they did sound solid for the money they cost, I mean you can’t expect more from inexpensive pedals sound wise, maybe just a bit more durability.

    I bought this pedal a couple of years ago and I just love it. Personally, It was a kind of revelation and it made me realize the klon type sound is what I was unknowingly looking for. There might be better pedals to get that sound, but I don’t see the need to change. I plug it in front of my Yamaha THR-10 with a light crunch setting and it sounds amazing.

    I think it was darrel Braun who said lower pick ups leads to a stratier sound. He recommended just above the pickgaurd . I was also trying to balance the mix between the treble strings and the bass. Thanks for the quick response. Bye for now. Rock on! Sorry not done. I wish I had another strat to leave with the lower pickups. I do like it but I miss the tone made by higher pickups. I have another strat style guitar but it has all humbuckers. Sounds nice with the drive up high. The low drive settings sound both too much and too little at the same time. Like the breakup sounds more like a mistake than a specific tone. The higher gain sounds seemed more deliberate. Then again, in the mix it did sound quite good even at the lower gain settings.

    Never understood the interest and why a Klon demands such a high price on the used marked. I get that originals are rare, but there's nothing very hard about the circuit (although unique at the time) or hard to find parts. I've always found it a lead sort of pedal as with rhythm it sounds too fuzzy for my liking. With this pedal: the gold mode sounds like a Klon, but for me the silver mode is where it's at. Glad to see there's a lot of cheaper options out there now if you're into this sort of thing.

      I think it's mostly famous for bringing attention to the importance of clean boost, clean/overdrive blending, and natural clipping. Additionally its unique power converter setup of 27v created considerable 'headroom'.
      It was also one of the first boutique pedals, with an unorthodox story. After a few endorsements from famous guitarists later, legend does the rest...

I'd say this NUX has bright to brittle overtones, worse, is the "unwanted" fuzz I'm hearing. It's like it doesn't keep it's tone based on the settings. must be inexpensive.

    Hey my Aussie buddy. I'm loving that yjm strat. What a beautiful guitar. It looks almost an Ice silver blue color on my TV. Very cool.
    One dumb questiom: Did you change the nut from a brass to something else, and if so why may I ask? I ask because I am thinking of getting a brass nut for my kinda Strat. A 1991 or 2 SV Ibanez which has a small V neck profile and two point gold Gotoh trem like the Fender American trems basically. It also has locking Gold matching tuners and gold pickup bezels, so I'm thinking to dress it up I'll install Gold EVO frets and a brass nut. It needs a new fret job anyway. Might as well use matching frets. Even that Nux overdrive would match. Hahaha.. 😂
    It sounds good to me. You use your axeFx with this?

      @peterschmidt9942 5 лет назад +2

      Hoosier Daddy Brass nuts seemed to be one of those things that were done in the late 70's/80's. The reasoning behind it was that the open strings would sound more like the fretted notes. I'm not too sure whether I noticed it that much, or whether it sounded better, just slightly different. They're definitely harder to make than a bone nut. I'm actually in the process of recreating a black LP copy I had back in the day with a brass nut & Bill Lawrence pickups. What can I say, I'm nostalgic!

      @@peterschmidt9942 Yes. I lived back then too and have had one on an old Charvel from back in the early 80s. It did sewm to help to me with sustain, at least with open strings. I think the biggest contributer to good tone in my almost 40 years of experience is first pickup, then nut and bridge. Just my two cents. I have no scientific proof, but I do believe it's probably true, especially since that is what the strings have the most effect and contact with. Other stuff like neck thickness which doesn't rob the strings of vibration if the neck is thick, etc, I believe also matter. 👍😀👍

    • @peterschmidt9942
      @peterschmidt9942 5 лет назад +2

      @@hoosierdaddy2308 Mate, I reckon you're spot on with that. Pickups have the biggest impact to sound (even just setting them up correctly makes a difference). The rest like neck profiles etc are player comfort. A guitar that's uncomfortable to play isn't worth shit if it's not setup to play! While strings do change the sound and maybe the way it plays, I couldn't give two shits these days what type of strings are on a guitar. I just buy what's on special and as long as they don't break too often, I'm happy. That's what the tone knobs on your amp are for!
