No sir. 😂 Sorry, but to beat boss they will have a long way to go I think in proving their worth. Not saying their bad at all, but as far as perception I think they'll have to really prove their wares. 😀👍
I don't think they're even close. Boss have been doing it for so long and so well (from a build point of view), that every other pedal is compared against that standard. How many other pedals from the 80's can you say are still working fine without being repaired? In terms of affordability, they're on the right track. NUX are bringing out some good affordable options. It's a great time to be a guitar player with options and not have to take out a second mortgage for gear..

I know this is an old post, but it just came across my feed and had to check it out. I have one of these on my NUX pedal board, just after the OD and Distortion on the Cerberus pedal, and it's a KILLER! This adds an element to the sound that is missing, and it's a good one. I have an original Centaur to compare it to, and the question is: Is it as good as the Centaur? I'll say this, it's close, but not an exact duplicate. It's not bad at all actually, and for the price, you'd be hard pressed to do better. Good video Leon!
I like it and others and I don't know why I'm even bothering with pedals I have about a dozen and my amps can get very close to sounds without even using one pedal. Even though I almost pulled trigger on another clone,I'm addicted I guess, help me!!!!!!!!!!!
I tried out Nux around 2012/13 I guess, they were kinda new on the market. I got myself 2 stomp boxes and I was really disappointed, both broke down in a matter of 2 weeks and weren’t at all road proof. I called them up to tell them what was wrong with their pedals, they were very kind and send me replacements, however they too broke down soon and I didn’t bother wasting any more time. I really hope they have improved their QC by now, because they did sound solid for the money they cost, I mean you can’t expect more from inexpensive pedals sound wise, maybe just a bit more durability.
I bought this pedal a couple of years ago and I just love it. Personally, It was a kind of revelation and it made me realize the klon type sound is what I was unknowingly looking for. There might be better pedals to get that sound, but I don’t see the need to change. I plug it in front of my Yamaha THR-10 with a light crunch setting and it sounds amazing.

Sounds nice with the drive up high. The low drive settings sound both too much and too little at the same time. Like the breakup sounds more like a mistake than a specific tone. The higher gain sounds seemed more deliberate. Then again, in the mix it did sound quite good even at the lower gain settings.
@@LeonTodd I feel that way about a lot of impulse responses. I'll hear a speaker sim on its own and it'll sound like utter shit but then I'll hear a mix and recognize a similar sound and be like "oh, it sounds killer there"

They’re pretty different. I wouldn’t count out the TS. It’ll last considerably longer too (I say this as a fan of the Nux)
@@vrolokcult9287 yup but I'll be using it to boost solos.
@@orchidmalevolence9726 that’s one of the things I use the TS for, actually. Used to be a TS9 for that, now I use a STL (4-knob version of a TS). The TS9 is a rhythm boost for me now.
I had to buy this pedal and hope that it make me sound like a 🔥 breathing 🐉.
By the way you are one damn good rocker man.
Bought it and it's a bad ass! Recommended!
Bought this as an impulse buy 😂😂😂usual for me .....but love this pedal wouldnt swap it out for anything...aye right some may say but i aint kidding😮❤
Great demo n pedal! Would u prefer this or boss sd-1 :))
Both in series into a marshall :D
Nice review and very good playing 👍🏻
Your soloing is ……. Wow!!!!!!!!!
Much appreciated!
I think the nux horseman is great nux make good pedals and they sound great to the ear I like nux very much he'll yeah!.
Apparently it's pronounced nu-ex
That would explain why I see it written NuX. My bad.
@@LeonTodd But "Nucks" is more fun to say and hear!
I hate that everyone does it solo style
it's actually pretty good.. not for metal...pretty midrangy.. but sounds well
With a cranked Marshall ....
Everything in life is better with a cranked Marshall
Great pedal I love mine.
Sounds pretty.
Sounds dope
Sounds not bad. 👍
Will I get Metallica tone if I plug four of this?
Edvan Santos You will go back in time. But only by a few days.
That scalopated fretboard is disgusting. My eyes bleed.
Just throwing a compliment: You really seem to be one of the most honest reviewers out there!
You for example really dug in for the Boss OD-200( I didnt buy it though, but thats why the review is for!), this NUX Horseman is another "maybe" pedal for me...
Thanks Leon!!!😎😎
Damn...
Its great !!
I hate to say it but I would probably buy a used Boss SD1. Just me though..
Everyone should have an SD-1
@@LeonTodd Maybe 2 or 3. 😂😀
In front of an OCD a klon type OD is better than a SD1 with my rig, much more organic So it depends on what you have around
@@dt9r Tumnus>OCD/Zendrive/Vick Tree of Life is the way to go. I like the Vick, but with a LP into a Laney VC30, OCD 1.4 was just killer. Kinda wish I hadn't sold it...
@@hoosierdaddy2308 I have two :D Both modded. Now all I need is a stock one...
Nioce
Sweet playing, dude!!
Thanks a lot!
