good to see someone with a camaro turbo doing some serious mods!
mytube4eva11 thanks man that was my main motivation to start the channel. I love cars and no one was making much content about the 2.0 Turbo.
The Coolest Courier So glad to mad this video. I'm buying a Camaro this week and now I know I'm going for the four banger....gracias
awesome man glad to Hear!
Basically a RWD Cobalt SS. Those damn Ecotec motors will push out some serious power with tuning
Its like that but with a 10 out of 10 chassis and better looks and interior
Best video thanks!
The stock 2.0 has a huge turbocharger which is capable of a lot more than people would expect.
I believe your numbers.
It's so weird hearing that 4cyl sound coming from a Camaro. It sounds good though.
yeah it is weird. hopefully it will sound mean with a catless downpipe
I'm glad I found your video because I'm thinking of getting the 2T and it's good to know it can be tuned with such a boost in performance.
Mike Sebbo yeah it's pretty good bang for your buck
More n more Race cars are in the 4 cylinder bracket! Chevrolet done their homework before building this powerhouse! You may not like the sound, but it can withstand a lot of power running through it and last! The V8's are far too heavy, cost way too much for insurance, and cost a lot in fuel mileage. Not to mention the initial investment.
D Gibson yep I'm definitely a fan of the setup, people think that this is the crappy version of the Camaro and that is so not the case at all. It is for people who love hot hatches but want rear wheel drive and don't want torque steer
man 4 cylinders were slugs in the 80s and 90s, now they're insane fast!
Not the 4 cylinder turbo foxbody
Not sure why there are so many 4cyl haters. 300+ hp from a 4cyl is more hp than most people need. Admittedly its odd in a Camaro but thats still more HP than the majority of Camaros from the 60s and 70s
Yeah it is a little weird in the Camaro in the Mustang but they both Drive quite well
Very impressive! I think the next best mod to do would be to install a 'real' turbo and retune it with that. I have the same engine in my 2015 Buick Regal and the stock turbo is a joke. It still moves pretty quick, but the stock setup seems to fall on its face as the rpm's climb.
I will do a turbo upgrade eventually. but this is quite quick for now
About to do this to mine love the sound
nice!
i have a 2017 4 Cylinder Turbo Camaro RS in hyper blue metallic and just wondering if I get it tuned if it void warranty? you should also make a video on how you did your muffler delete and everything you did to make it sound better!!
yes it can void your warranty if your technician is lame.
Very cool Jimmy. I live in FL and I ordered RPM's Stage 2 parts for my 2016 2.0 yesterday, their downpipe and charging pipe, and I ordered Injen's cold air intake. I have a local tuner, Redline Motorsports, doing the install and tune. Will be interesting to see what results I get. It's already a pretty snappy car, was a little concerned about mileage, but now you have me convinced.
The ECU tune clearly does a lot, the Stage 2 parts have taken a while to come out and there isn't as much as a choice of bolt-on stuff as there is for the v6 and v8. There is also the turbo upgrade from RPM and Vermont Tuning, which looks exciting, but not sure I want to do something that radical to the car.
I don't think the 4-cyl sounds bad, it just sounds different, more like a cranked out VW or a audi/BMW 3-series. It's a euro sound and also, doesnt attract a lot of attention while cruising. My car is charcoal, with black wheels, black interior, convertible with black leather. Half the time I creep up to people with other muscle cars and they don't even know I'm there :)
Jason Perlow awesome man! let me know how all of that goes I would like to get a lot of those parts myself later this year
Those are good numbers. Nice car! I have a ls1 gen 4 trans am and your numbers are pretty close to my v8.
Jonas Burt thanks man, I love the Trans Am. Awesome cars
When does vtec kicks in?????
fleiva30 Sadly it does not, it's not even in my Honda lol
just fucking with you bro.. nice Camaro I'm thinking of buying one
fleiva30 I wouls try to find a used SS around 30k, they are incredible. The 2.0 is really fun as well when modified but it takes some special care and maintenance
use the performance timer in your car and make a 0 to 60 and 0 to 100 video . i did it with no mods (only intake evo7300) with both traction system off. i managed 5.4 0to60 and 13.8 0to100. on my first try.
Reginald Rigaud that's a really good idea I'll probably do that. and that's really good if you got those times first try I remember when I first got this car it took me multiple tries to even break 6 seconds 0 to 60 in stock form.
Spiderman Camaro 6 well.... technically i did not.... i did a couple tries of 0-60 when i originally bought the car and i could not get under 6.4sec so i gave up... but i had at least one of the traction feature still on at the time as i didnt know any better... but the good run was at my first try like 6months later which was a couple weeks ago by the way. may be the car needed a breaking period time to adjust. 0 to 100 @13.8 was first try ever couple weeks ago
Reginald Rigaud nice! is that manual or Auto?
Spiderman Camaro 6 A8 ....auto
Reginald Rigaud nice. I'd like to see what it's like banging through the gears that fast
I got a 4 cyl camaro 2016 stock, where can i do that mod?? im planning to do also the methanol and NOS what do you recommend me?
Wow there are people with cams on the 2.0 turbo only making 331 whp hard to believe its making 360 but I'm glad you're happy!
Benjamin Patton he said 360 to the crank and 310 to the wheels
I like the video, thanks for shooting it. Tuning was fun, glad you enjoyed it!
Steven Kenniff no problem man I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'll be going over my other mods next in videos
Spiderman Camaro 6
When you do that I would love to see how the exhaust routing looks after removing the muffler.
Eric N I'll show it
nice! Will do a tune one i get some upgrades done!
+1 for the lighter weight, +1 for tuneability, but -100 for the sound. The V6 just sound so much better.
Depends, the turbo adds a whole other layer of sounds with the flutter and blow off sounds.
@@mitchio83 Not even close for me. The human ear likes certain tones and dislikes certain tones. That's why they spend so much R&D money on NVH. Turbo sounds may be "cool" to some, but they aren't "music to the ears" like the screaming V6. It's one of the best sounding V6 engines ever made.
Impressive gas up grade
you should upgrade the intercooler, air intake, go take a look at the Mishimoto 2.0lt camaro videos
Luis Calvillo I will sometime this year. I'm not ready to drop more money just yet. I like what mishimoto is doing though
The Coolest Courier no get the injin intake i have it in may camaro and it makes the turbo sound so much better
Which option of theirs did you get? I have the same car Idc what they say here my 4 cyl is great i am extremely happy!
How much was it and if u get it rubbed does it effect how long the engine last?
If you want easy power just put a big open exhaust on it....3" downpipe to a 3" exhaust and you get an easy 20-30hp.....A simple exhaust upgrade on anything with a turbo has dramatic increases you won't see on a none turbo
that is exactly what I would like to do
Nice video man, earned yourself a sub 👍 was wondering how much the tune cost?
thank you sir. $350
How do I get this tune
These 2.0 turbo ecotecs are a whole different animal when tuned.
definately
Did u change cold air intake? It also increase 30-40HP
manpreet singh nope. It still stock right now. I'm going to do a bunch of modifications at one time sometime in 2018 so I only have to tune it once
May be a stupid question but do you have to keep the tuner plugged in all the time or just for the set up then your good to unplug it from the port?
Once everything is set up you don't need it
top speed with the tune?
Same, it's electronically Limited at 165
I have a 2017..4-Cyl Camaro, what after market parts could I get to increase the horse power before tunning the car??
I thought a Air Intake and a Intercooler. That's about it. I don't have a lot of knowledge when it comes to the aftermarket aspect of cars. NEED TIPS
The best advice I can give you is sell the car, in 5 years from now the 2.0T Camaro will go down as one of Chevrolet's most unreliable vehicles, only to be beaten by the cruise maybe.
Old Miatas and Hondas are more fun in this car, have more parts available, are 1/10 the price to fix and 1/20 the cost.
As for your question you can do a full exhaust, catless downpipe and a muffler delete.
@@TheCoolestCourier what happened for you to consider the 2.0 unreliable ? You look like you hate it now.
I believe you as far as the 378 ft of torque, but how about the HP? Is there some formula you are using? And once again, thanks for your videos on the tuned turbo 4 Camaro. Lots of us watching, whether we are owners or fussing with the decision to buy one or not.
no the only reference I have Is another one of their cars with the same tune dynoing 310 at the wheels. And I appreciate the support. Im coming back to the channel again with some higher quality content very soon!
I don't think the calculated torque figure the PCM shows you is actual. Its a calculation used for trans behaviour, traction control... ect
Kyle Schack really? good to know. now I'm even more curious the exact power it's making at the wheels
Does the Tune by itself make that much HP? i believe you mentioned you had other Mods? So i'm wondering if your other Mods contributed to this 360 HP>.....Please advise..
rhampton1914 just tires, a throttle controller, and a knn air filter
ok thanks for responding..i'm thinking of gettn a 2017 2.0 camaro...i also wanna do a tune..is it really a night a day difference than stock? is it worth it?
rhampton1914 just speaking from my experience with this car. if you can find a crazy deal on the 2.0 Turbo then it starts to become worth it. but if you can I would totally save up and go for the ss 1le. it's such a beast of a car. and yes the tune is a night and day difference it takes the cars power from being not exciting to decently quick
Nice Tune on the 4cyl turbo. But a good way to Void the dealership warranty.
yes that is true unfortunately
If you don't mind could you link or send me what you used to tube your car?
How did the tune effect your mpg? Nvm you answered in the vid lol
How does the throttle controller hold up with the tune? I have the Vitesse right now waiting on finding a good exhaust/CAI before I get a tune.
the throttle controller has always given me some problems. it has not changed since the tune
What kind of problems? I haven't had any noticeable issues with mine.
I'll go over that in the review im about to post
how did u get ur car to sound like that lol i’m trying to make my camaro louder with more of a growl
did you experience any problems out of this tune? I'm seriously thinking about doing it very soon
none so far and I have put 10000 miles on this new tune
How is the stock setup holding with the tune ?
Will this void the warrant?
Those are the only questions I have.
My engine needed a rebuild about one year after this video oh, it did not hold up well. And yes it voids the warranty
Ouch. But heck of lot of fun :-) did u pull it & build it more? Like 400 hp n 470 tq? :-) whats the car weight ? Thanks
Impressive!, what type of gas are you putting into it?
just 91
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you are making 360/378 with just a tune and no other mods that engine is not going to last long. With just a tune you can get an impressive increase in power but I would say a more reasonable guess would be around 330HP/370TQ at the crank. I love the Boosted Ecotec motors, they are strong and very tune-able. For someone who doesn't want to void the warranty the V6 is the way to go but if you are choosing between the V6 and the turbo I4, and you are wanting to mod, the I4 is a better choice. With some mods and a good tune the I4 will be much faster than the V6 any day.
yeah it might be a big gap in hp and torque
Stage 1 tune?
Great Video Bro. I cant wait to tune my 2017 silver Camaro. only have a muffler delete right now.
awesome, you'll like it
Samuel Butler I want to do a muffler delete where can I do that how much would it cost?
I’m doing a muffler delete. Jimmy, do you like yours? Also I see you say don’t tune it. Are these still your views?
Hey I was wondering how hard was it to do the tune up ?
Sounds like a beer fart on a Monday morning but I have to admit it is a very sharp looking car.
Haha that's one way to put it, yeah eventually I'll find a way to make it sound better most likely with a big turbo swap to where all you can hear is whooshing air and turbo noise
The Coolest Courier but from what I read online they said the turbo 4 is a little bit faster than the v6. Wouldn't mind the turbo myself
above 40mph its faster than a v6. with the tune it murders the v6, and since 5th gear allows more boost, if you race an SS from 80 mph this car with the tune will pull on it I'm not even joking.
The Coolest Courier do you have to run 93 octane gas in it?
bud bundy no just 91. I wish we had 93 in California
What did you do to your exhaust
Only a muffler delete, I highly recommend it. Its cheap and simple.
How good does the throttle controller work on the turbo coming on earlier?
earlier in the pedal yes but the same in your rpm range. basically if you have it on a medium setting, the reaction you would get from half throttle, you now get from 1/4 throttle
You need to take it to a real dyno before you start throwing HP numbers lol 360 HP lol
12grabberblue yeah you're right I do need to dyno it. that is the only way to make sure. I said 360 based on RPM Motorsports Dyno results for most of their clients which is always between 305 and 315 to the wheels which if you plug in 310 to the wheels is over 360 horsepower
Spiderman Camaro 6
How difficult is it to go back to stock in the event you have to take it to the dealership? Based on your video it sounds like I will be contacting RPM. Thanks for the video!
Eric N I'm not sure how you would go about putting it back to stock. I would ask rpm about that. the best option is if you know a technician at Chevrolet that will just look past it lol
Just fyi the dealerships now can see the car was tuned even if you put it back. The new cars now have what you could consider similar to a black box. Tune voids warranty
Jethro B no it doesn't. If your dealership is telling you this their lying.
So whats all been done on your car aside from the tune and noticeable exhaust?
a knn airfilter. thats it
The Coolest Courier wow ok, I figured there was more.
i just did my exhaust on mine, did a 3 inch borla with 4 inch tips and sound awesome, goes great with the injen cold air intake that i have on the car.
I just watched your video on it, The exhaust sounds similar to my muffler delete. and that intake sounds great! how much did the intake cost?
The Coolest Courier thanks man, If I remember correctly it cost me about $350.
Every single car can be tuned in one way or another forced induction is not only a reason to get a tune
So I wanted to know can you put 2 people in front and back comfortably
Anyone shorter than 5 foot 4 can sit in the back comfortably. Upfront is not a problem there's plenty of space
@@TheCoolestCourier oh nice thank you
Every body says i they v8 better but u gotta think about it he got a car so he can travel alot that can still be a fun car.
I just purchased the stage 2 kit from rpm motorsports today
Quick question, will the dealership be able to detect the mod? i have a 17 camaro 2.0 and want to get this but have warranty and don't want to fuck that up. any way to have that avoided?
It depends on how your dealership is with that. I would get to know a service tech there and see what they think.
Yes they would and some will try and take away your warranty.
How is the turbo lag after being tuned?
the same if not better
What did you add on it
Sorry to be the one to tell you this but there is way you are close to 360 HP (at the flywheel) that would calculate to about a 0 to 60 time of 4.4 to 4.7 seconds for 3340lb. car and at 275 HP (at the flywheel) it would be 5.4 to 5.8 seconds that is dead on with what GM has for there time.
crazyflyboy30 yeah that sounds about right. I bet if you found someone who has experience drag racing manual transmissions they could definitely pull at least a 4.8 second 0 to 60 with my car. I have driven both a Focus RS and an M2 and I can definitely say my car has just a tad bit more torque shove than those after the tune. also keep in mind I have removed half of my backseat and that big ass stupid Muffler. so I'm under 3,300 pounds
Let me know it you brake 5 second .
Does chip tuning affect official guarantee?
most likely. but most technicians ignore it
So was this a performance chip?
kevin Hernandez not exactly, a performance chip is just a preset tune that is the same for every car, this was a remote custom tune where we adjusted it several times in order to see how much we could turn the boost up with no issues
Man I wish you could do mine for me
The old school muscle cars are losing out to all this turbo HP! The Subaru WRX's I have seen with mods are pushing in the 500HP range. Its nuts...
I know man. but v8s will always be more badass though
What did you so exaust wise?
At this point it was just a muffler delete. But eventually I took the cat off and went with a downpipe as well
Nice video. I'd love to see u run with a stock 2.0 and a v6 to see the difference.
ROMEO I would love to do that! I just need to find owners of those
Spiderman Camaro 6 did u happen to take before and after 0-60 times? Have you run with other Comparable cars and done before and after runs with them?
ROMEO
My money is on Spiderman's turbo. I spent 3 days and 300 miles in a 2017 V6 RS and had committed to buying it until I decided to drive a Turbo. Any advantage the 6 has on paper can easily be erased by a better driver in a Turbo in real world driving and after a tune and a mild diet in this case, the 6 doesn't stand a chance.
Did you order you car online or was in on the lot when u bought it. Btw I'm in the process of getting the same one you have.
it was on the lot. try to find a car that has a nice fat 6k discount on it. I would go to a big dealership
Like it or not this is the directions Car manufactures are heading. With the new mid Engine Corvette soon to hit the market, more & more cars are being made with smaller displacement motors with large horse numbers and dropping the weight other vehicles. One such vehicle on the Chevy lineup is the Malibu premier at 3280 pounds with a four-cylinder turbo charge 2.0 the car can hit 0 to 60 in 5.7 seconds in the quarter mile 14.3 at almost 100 mph with a top speed Drag limited of 156 mph.
Looks like you live in Nevada.. just outside of Vegas... am i right?
southern california. I Live 10 minutes away from Lethal Camaro
Ah, small world.
Lawn mower whoops some ass huh lol technology we have today a 400 small block factory couldn’t make that back in the 80s
I know, it's getting pretty crazy. A Porsche GT3 RS is now making 520 horsepower out of a NA 4 liter motor!
@@TheCoolestCourier mercedes has a 450hp 4cyl too
How can I get a muffler delete don how much would it cost
LuiSargento12 go to your local muffler or exhaust shop it is a very easy job to do for under $100
Yes thank you. Yours just sounds a lot meaner.
can that void warranty at all?
not if you put it back to stock
Was that tune safe for the engine? How much was the time?
Absolutely not, I had misfires at 60 thousand miles and ended up needing an engine rebuild which made me car poor for the rest of the ownership of this car. Is Camaros are best owned under warranty. The SS with the optional exhaust being the best option
@@TheCoolestCourier dang that sucks. Thanks for the reply subbing
No problem, thank you!
So I'm curious, do you have any present mods on your car that help the car to handle the extra 85+ hp. Or can the car the way it is handle the extra boost in hp? Please get back to me and can you list the mods needed for a v4 to handle this extra hp if it's needed. I'd appreciate it.
That car can't handle any more power than stock. It needed a motor rebuild at 60,000 miles because of the tune. It was very expensive and made me car poor for the rest of the ownership. I don't own sports cars anymore I ride motorcycles and dirt bikes instead. Check out my new videos.
@@TheCoolestCourier so do you not recommend the tune? I’m looking hard into one.
@@rmgrimshaw23 FUCK NO DONT
@@rmgrimshaw23 get basic add ons don’t fuck with the computer
Hey do you still have this car? And is it working normally?
No I don't, and I heard it's not working well for the new owner either. This car would be cool owning it under warranty stock but that's it. I don't trust this motor.
@@TheCoolestCourier why is that? Could you tell it was getting bad?
Voids warranty??
not if know how to put it back to the stock tune
I like how at 5:30 he digs himself Into the seat, and there girl is just there.
haha thats just a habit of mine. I like to put my head back before I accelerate because it just feels a little faster that way.
378 at 0.0 lbs of boost P.S. You can't get dyno numbers without a dyno.
If you search on this channel you'll see that I did Dyno this car before I sold it. Horsepower was pretty close to that and the torque was pretty nuts
How much does the tune cost
LuiSargento12 $350
How much was the tune?
$350
Jeez I love what u did but the sooooooooound. Idk I can't do it!
it is a drawback
how much did it all cost
The Gamer $350
Is this like the trifecta tune
Not sure I never tried that tune. If you haven't tune your car yet don't, my motor blew twice
@@TheCoolestCourier you’re lying because I’ve been thinking about it
@@TheCoolestCourier should I still do it?
I wouldn't do a tune honeslty I'd leave it stock. If you want more power buy the v6 or v8 for the highest amount of power
but what If you want more power than the V6 but have less than 30k to spend? plus the other models are hundreds of pounds heavier
Are you located in wildomar?
yeah, u live here too?
I'm sure the tune improved your hp and torque and probably close to the claim by the tuner company. Chevrolet's numbers are off the crank. On a chassis dyno those numbers will be 10% or more lower. The only real way to measure the difference is to baseline on a chassis dyno and follow up with another pull after the tune. I don't know how you got to 360 and 378 with out testing and converting from chassis dyno numbers to crank numbers. It is very unrealistic that you are making 378 lb ft of torque.
Pretty much.. don't want to bust his bubble but you can't go off a tuner laptop to see what numbers your making lol! ONLY real way is a baseline dyno and another dyno that shows the gains.
Thats what I was thinking too. I was enjoying the video until he said the hp & tq. numbers the his estimated drag times from his butt dyno.
Agreed. Put it on a dyno. Your laptop is making you look ignorant
Amercian muscle car with import guts
Yep. Wasn't reliable though. Sold it. Financially the best move is to have something like a 2004 Camry for a daily and then like a weekend Miata or small Honda. Or if you want affordable speed like I did more people should consider getting into bikes. I got my license a few months ago and haven't looked back since. Beginner-ish bikes do 0 to 60 in under 4 seconds
The v6 sounds a bit better tho
Camaro Ss true, to me 4cyl sounds like a weedeater, v6 sounds like a baritone, and the v8.... well you know :) We all have different preferences.
And the V8 sounds like a fucking motor.
Nice 😀
Go ask a former owner of a Cobalt 2.0 SS why they don't have the car anymore. If they did any tuning at all such as boost increase boost tuning fuel mapping. Yes they increase their power but it shorten the life expectancy of both the turbo and the car itself. Do some research on the General Motors turbo powered cars and supercharged powered four cylinders. You'll find a very short lifespan when modifications take.
I have heard that as well, if I could go back I would have chosen something more reliable. But I'm now at 82,000 miles, have tried many different tunes, turbo is doing fine, planning on gong bigger anyway, and we put forged JE rods and pistons in the motor to help things out. hopefully everything will hold up.
john endsley honestly tho you see a lot of high mileage cobalts I’m at 158k 2009 cobalt ss tc and it’s been tuned for a while @25 psi and runs like a dream.
Cool
Did anyone see that bad ass s2000 at 4:39
Boosted_brz haha yeah, A McLaren flew by me in the canyons in my most recent review
is there a dino shop near you?
I live in SoCal, there's one on every corner
LOL 360hp! Please tell us you've Dyno tested it and got actual numbers? Because no tune is gonna add 100hp.....
After driving it 40000 more miles I think the hp figure is more like 300 at the wheels but I definitely stand by that torque figure at the crank of 378 lb ft. the torque is fat at 4000 RPM.
3:00 ........race these guys lol
just with the tune you get 360 hp??
I guess I'll find out when I dyno it
The Coolest Courier let's us know when you do it....nice video
thank you
Sounds more like a import car
Wish I could get my tune from rpm, it's been 18 days and I don't even think they shipped it. They won't email me back.
Yeah they kinda take forever, it was a solid 2 to 3 months of waiting, its cheap because they reuse the same few tuner devices they have.
That car is not making more than 300 crank hp...my 2005 6 speed corvette will not hook under 65mph..even rolling into it
You realize your talking about a 17 year old chassis right? also tires matter, and Naturally aspirated vs Turbo is the biggest factor. Turbo cars typically have a smooth power delivery even when you floor it. But yeah if you didn't know, chassis rigidity does make a difference
The Coolest Courier I'm not hating..i actually subscribed because I saw you at TST
Sounds good but still doesn't have that V8 rumble
What Rpms are you shifting from?
5500. sometimes 6000. theres no more boost above 6000
Where this world have gone to. 4 Cyllinder muscle cars ? oh god why
Georgi Georgiev it's not a muscle car dude, where have you been? Most American performance cars are full-fledged sports cars, it has that old Japanese sports car formula, rear-wheel drive, turbo motor, lightweight. Cars like this are for people who love hot hatches but don't like torque steer and wheel spin. Think outside of the box man don't just look at the name plate
bro thats 300hp at the crank not wheels you going to need more than a tune to get that
Boost6 you really think a car that weighs 3300 pounds that makes 300 at the crank could run a 13 second quarter mile? if you can point me in the direction of a cheap place that I could get this Dyno'd id gladly do it to silence the deniers lol
Spiderman Camaro 6 it can if you know how to drive it
Boost6 Not necessarily. It is a direct injection engine which means the injectors have a broader range of flow. You turn the boost up a little and throw more fuel at it and you can make a good amount of power with just a tune. How do you think diesel guys get 25-40% power increases with just a tune? It's the same concept just with a spark plug added in
Rob Galles bro the car comes with 275 cranks hp how do you pick up up over 150 plus whp with just a tune i doubt it i need dyno sheets
dyno sheets only way bro, its good to see this build but you need to back it up.
