The Gears of War franchise has captured the imaginations of millions throughout it’s tenure, and it's 5th mainline entry Gears 5, looked to achieve the same levels of success as it's brethren. With stunning visuals, refined third person cover-based combat, new combat support abilities and a campaign format introducing advertised open-world environments and a more emotive narrative, Gear's 5 looked to reinvigorate the franchise and do so in a way worthy of it's namesake.
But ultimately does Gears 5 fulfil these promises? To find out, join me as we delve into Gears 5, and explore its campaign and story, asses it’s attempts to re-invigorate the gameplay loop, inspect it’s technical performance and look to it’s multiplayer to appraise it’s post-launch longevity, support and player sentiment.

I wish there were more positive review videos of Gears 5 like this one. I'm really enjoying Gears 5 and I'm tired of all the popular videos being like "gEaRs Of WaR iS dEaD". And I'm just like: "Uh no it clearly isn't dead." I mean 4, 5, and Tactics all received pretty good reviews and they released a trailer for E-Day. I swear some of these people are really talking out of their asses.
And its hard to ignore them because it feels like they're everywhere. But anyway what I'm trying to say is that I am enjoying Gears 5 a lot. I'm especially enjoying the campaign and Horde and Escape modes. Its really fun.
I'm glad your having a good time, something doesn't have to be perfect to be enjoyable. A lot of effort goes into creating a video game, and the positives should be recognised. I'm looking forward to learning more about E-day in the future, gears isn't dead, far from it 😀
This is a really good retrospective and well put together. Gears 5 is on of my favorite games in the franchise in terms of the campaign. It has it's small problems here and there but overall it's a great experience. While I don't find the ending lackluster, I wish the cliffhanger was a little bit more enticing or set more up for the future. Regardless, I'm excited for Gears of War E-Day and the eventual Gears 6.

Its gotta be multiplayer why people hate this game? I played multiplayer, reached lvl 70 before u even touched the campaign. Just picked up the camping recently and it’s fun as hell. I say it’s a SKILL ISSUE
