There's more of those idle animations. If you stand inside by the entrance of the gentleman's club you will act like a bouncer. If you stand in a bar you will drink a bottle of liquor. If you stand on a pier you'll cast a fishing pole. Those are a few I know of, there's probably more I've never found
You can also find a statue/shrine that’s dedicated to Volition Studios themselves inside a cave that’s way off the map. I also seem to remember spotting a giant fish there too? It might be worth your time checking it out at some point.

4:09 If you walk into the lake or throw the mask into the lake, it does a weird animation. It’s been a while since I’ve played but I remember people were saying it was part of an unfinished Easter egg.
The blind guy who doesn`t react when you try to rob the liquor store may be a reference to one episode of A-Team where the mafia tries to take money from a blind guy that own the shop. But it didn`t go well.
With the Jason mask that lake spawns people's corpses on top of the water when you walk away and come back Also in the graveyard there is an empty grave, when you stand in front of it something will happen
Never knew that it casued bodies to spawn in the water. I do know that there is a tree that will fall onto the road "trapping" you in the camp when you drive near it.
Iirc the murder house was apparently an audio issue that caught a horror movie being played in the background. There's no Easter egg or larger thing behind it, it was just an audio issue. In SR3 the murder house does appear again as an Easter egg this time
Is it though, there are quite a few locations in Saints Row 1 where you can hear similar stuff as well as there is a basketball court in the first game that spawns an AK-47 every in game hour that has a building pretty close by that plays continuously looping audio of a woman screaming and stabbing noises. Fairly certain it may be intentional.
If the sex dungeon wasn't bad enough on its own when you get out the other end you found yourself at the "used coffin" dealer. The people at the trailer park were stealing coffins and dumping the bodies (hopefully that's all that they did) to sell their coffins for cheap. And i think that tower thing only worked with the Xbox version of the game.
Found an easter egg, or small detail, in Ghostbusters the Video Game. When you pause the game, the pause screen is actually your PKE meter. Normally, the sensors on the side slowly cycle because theres nothing around. But if you are near a scannable target or paranormal entity, the sensors will flash quickly, especially if you have looked at the scannable target before pausing the game. Not huge, but I love that the game registers the target on the pause screens PKE meter, not just the in-game PKE meter
The idle animation you mentioned is barely the tip of the iceberg...there are spots like that all over the city where if you idle near a group doing an activity, your character will join in..my personal favorites being the yoga group, and the people fishing. Unfortunately, they didn't bother doing this, or the day/night cycle, in later games supposedly because 'it was too much work ant nobody noticed'. 😕 I will point out as a side mention, though...I'm presuming that you're playing the straight, unmodded version of the game...but a major mod for 2 was made called...Gentleman of the Row, IIRC, by 'IdolNinja', fixing many of the bugs and adding additional features. He did such a good job, he ended up getting hired to work on later Saint's Row releases. Unfortunately, he passed away a while back. :-(
The idle animations aren't just for in the clubs. They r nearly everywhere. Most standing actions u can find NPC's doing, the player will usually eventually join in and do themselves briefly. If there r multiple nodes in an area, the player will swap between them The mask turning into a skull is because of the weird boundaries, the game swaps the item and it so happens to b a skull. The devs have said it's funny but not intentional to have happened.
I don't know if you would count it as an Easter egg, but almost everyone knows that drinking alcohol in Saints Row 2 gives you beer muscles. You do more melee damage after consuming a couple alcoholic beverages. But if you smoke a spliff or a bong or anything like that, it reduces incoming damage. I don't remember anyone ever talking about that when I used to play the game
@diamonddead8162 I remember testing it by walking off one of the bridges. If you jump it kind of throws everything off but if you walk there's a certain amount of time you fall that you'll start tilting forward. I would do this sober, drunk, and then High and it was hard to get steady results but it was almost certain that after a bong or a spliff, the fall didn't hurt as much
The mutant fish can also be found at the Lake camp you found the hockey mask. The road leading in/out of the camp also has a tree that will fall on the road when you get close. (Like the horror trope of cars being unable to leave an area) There is a open grave that a sky diver will fall to his death into when you approach it. They are three islands hidden off map like the bunny. One has a wrecked ship, another a Loch Ness monster skeleton, and a larger island with a shrine to Volution in a cave. The last island also has a baby Loch Ness monster swimming by it.
4:47 These sounds are indeed artificial. The map of the caverns names this area as the "Ghost Room". It's probably part of the whole tourist attraction The gong detail is also used in the Crowd Control activity when on the Chinatown map. It's one of the highlighted objects to throw people into for extra money Another secret I know about is that if you go to the hidden island where you follow the arrows, the island wit the Volition Cavern has a sea monster in the water if you stand in a specific spot. Really more of a large fish but it's the only place it's found
Ima have to turn on the 360 and play this gem, sheesh it feels like a dream playing this i will never forget the experience i had playing it in that release month
Crazy how this game was probably made in year. My favorite game of all time. One detail that’s cool is depending on vehicle it will have different switch sounds, which I love.
There is a beautiful nod to Saints Row 2 in SR the Third involving Pearce. When you first meet him he'll play classical music and your character would go and comment on that he needs a better taste in music. When you get him in the third, the classical station would start up before swapping to the best part of the game with the singalong
The radio tower detail only works in the original Xbox 360 version of the game as far as I'm aware. It never worked on PC, and I don't believe it even worked in the PS3 version for some reason
The destructible radio tower isn’t for radio underground, it’s for “pirate radio”. However there is cool detail tied to radio underground. Since it’s being broadcasted from underground it has a weak signal so you won’t be able to get the radio station If you aren’t close enough to where it’s being broadcasted and it won’t show up in the list of stations either
One of my favorite games in the xbox 360 and ps3 era. And random fact, saints row 1(2006) is an xbox exclusive. It was gonna get a pc and ps3 port but it was scrapped for a multi release for saints row 2.
The Underground FM tower had two features. There are three or four rings of signal that change the quality of the broadcast, and if you’re past the out ring you won’t hear anything at all. Strangely enough I just tried destroying the tower on the 360 version of the game and it cut out the broadcast until I reloaded. What version are you on and if PC may it’s a patch related issue?
Here’s one Dying light 2 detail I’m sure you missed: As Aiden progressively gets more and more yk, infected his voice lines become enraged and ragged as if he’s angrier then usual as in the infections taking over so things like jumping, hitting, and running all becomes exaggerated
Hey Captain I saw something today that you might be interested in featuring in a video in the game far cry four when you equip a throwing knife and hold it in your hand before throwing the knife the number that shows how many is in your inventory will go down by one when holding it and then will go back up by one when you put it away if you choose not to throw it it’s a small but neat little detail
Congrats on 900K! Aswell I have an Easter egg! In dead island there's an achievement called "how many days exactly?" After starting a game 28 days later, obviously a reference to 28 days later
Two headed fish could be a reference to the two headed Brahmin cows from Fallout. You missed a couple of easter eggs that I can think of off the top of my head. Saint's Row 2 has a lot of tiny islands surrounding the map that don't appear on said map. Some contain weird things. A dinosaur skeleton, a Volition statue hidden behind a waterfall (if I remember correctly) and an aquatic dinosaur swimming around an island in the water though it won't interact with you. Ultor the villainous corporation is the same Ultor from The Red Faction video games also made by Volition hinting that they are set in the same universe. You can even find an advert on the radio that is for a TV show called Red Faction with two of the major characters Parker and Eos voicing a more saucy scene than actually happened in the game.
Two other details missed...the blow-up dolls are actually a collectible item, I forget what the final reward for getting them all is. Also another way to get coins..much like the binoculars, you can uproot parking meters, which will also give you coins. (I'm trying to remember if you can briefly use it as a melee weapon before it breaks or not. It has been a while since I've played.)
The first game has plenty of details as well. For example: Older cars have shitty sound quality, newer cars have good speakers. In early game, enemies will just insult you. But as you progress, more and more enemies will recognize you and say things like "Oh shit! It's him!" The more you use fellow saints as homies and the more you let them get kills, the better the saints NPCs get at killing (which is painful because they REALLY suck at it to start)
Pretty sure all of them have one unique song, but every voice sings along to Take on Me All of those songs are on TheMix and sadly it's the only station to have singalongs
On the segment regarding the Volition studio you find in game, there is also a stairwell that leads up to it as that is how it is mentioned you enter it according to the Saints Row 2 official strategy guide. In regards to the segment showcasing the house with the disturbing sounds; that is a gag they carried over from Saints Row 1 as there are quite a few locations around the city in that game where stuff like that can be found like near the basketball court in one of the poor neighborhoods where the AK-47 spawns in Saints Row where there is an apartment building where you hear a woman screaming and stabbing noises. Also, no mention of the bookstore with the name "Read Fiction" in the same font and style of Volition's Red Faction series or the fact that Ultor in the Saints Row universe is confirmed to be the same Ultor from Red Faction but ran by the Third Street Saints?
Not sure if this is really the EE but I think the 2 headed fish is a reference to photos of wildlife taken in Pripyat, the town located near Chernobyl. One of those photos does have a 2 headed fish to show the mutations.
I know this has nothing to do with saints row but I discovered a cool thing while playing the new goat sim 3 dlc ( now I know there are hundreds of easter eggs in goat sim) but a cool detail I discovered was that if you stand on a solar panel for a couple seconds you set on fire ( not that interesting but a cool detail the devs decided to throw into the mix)
I got thinking the radio tower destruction is probably for the Heli assault side mission against Son's the radio station changes title after you kill Veteran Child in the Son's story mission
hey captain. have you ever had a update title be a easter egg before? if not. dead cells, the amazing aaction rougelite has a update titled "everyone is here" which is a reference to the ultimate smash bros trailer. in the update it brought, hollow knight and his pure nail, shovel knight and his well shovel, hotline miami's bomber jacet which can only be obtained after finding a baseballbat and smashing open a door (while a enemy is behind it to stun them and then kill said enemy) and so many more
did you know that one horror game directly references another. just play That's Not My Neighbor and look at the names. additionally, the nightmare mode has a neighbor that looks very familiar.
Saints Row 2 is an example of a sequel where the developer actually put in more content and improved some stuff from the first game. Of course this is also because they used the same graphics engine and didn't have to spend money and dev time on a new one, allowing them to focus all their efforts on content and gameplay.
I think the 2 headed fish isn't really a reference to anything because in real life, there are some people who have caught a 2 headed fish. It's rare, but I know it's happened once or twice before in real life.
There's another one in the graveyard, there's an open grave and when you first go near it a man falls from the sky wearing like a space helmet and falls in it and dies
I've heard that Jason can't swim but in many of the films he does just fine in water, hell he even manages to climb aboard a boat from the water in that New york film and seems to have no issue killing people or catching up with them via the water. Happy to be proven wrong, i've watched most of the films but not enough like a absolute fan boy would.
Not really an easter egg but more of a maybe broken feature. There are blood decals that will spawn on the ground in Sr2 However they are extremely rare and very hard to notice, It only seems to happen when the player's body hits the ground with intense force, I think it also may work with npc's but you would be going so fast to cause that much force you would never see it. I was able to get this to happen the easiest in insurance fraud, these decals are not the generic blood pools that form when an npc is killed, and have a different shape.
hey captain ive been playing through borderlands 3 found a easter egg at the entrance of blackbarrel cellars the sign might be a refrance to the famer in the blood and bacon game (just a theory and idk if anyone noticed it)
I remember being cooked out of my mind playing this game, finishing the mission in the caverns, and free roaming in them afterwards. I was freaking out when I heard the noises 😅
This was my favourite game growing up. This and black ops 1 got me into gaming. I’ll never forget the memories me and my brother made playing these, may he rest in peace. Still love SR2 to this day
Same here, but If they re not going to be able to do something equal or better than the first SR games, or at least do something interesting like the fourth one, maybe the franchise should stay dead.
I feel theres a lot ive missed in SR2. I had the steam version and not sure how I managed to complete it because it had a bug that increased the speed by x2 or x3
A guy really devoted to the series died while trying to remake the port for SR2 on pc. Sadly he couldn't finish and well, now Volition is dead ... Look it up a guy on youtube that worked on the project too shared the story 😢 This game is soooo cool. I played it after S3 and damn the difference!
"Saints Row 2 has that special sauce that the series has been trying to recreate ever since" BZZT wrong. The publishers have never been interested in recreating the magic of SR2, they have only ever been interested in chasing trends, which is why the later games drifted further away.
I still have so many volition games on my 360 imo saints row isn’t a gta clone but a better version as to what old gta wanted to be I love the saints row series so much
The prologue and first mission just hook you in and keep you interested, that's why it's so good. That and it did not take itself serious but man, the PC port was an uttter uttr disaster Which makes me wonder if GOTR added any easeter eggs and secrets that weren't in the base game?
This video isn’t a 12 minute ad, we don’t do that sort of thing around here! We do confuse the singers of classic 80s songs though.
Keep up the good work much love man
If this an ad for a remastered version of Saints Row 2, I wouldn’t even care! I love the Saints Row series
It's Odd that you mention this... it's got me scratching my Head.
Did you say that because the latest "Semi Ramblomatic" video from Second Wind felt like a 7 minute ad for Yahtzee's game?

hey captain. have you ever had a update title be a easter egg before? if not. dead cells, the amazing aaction rougelite has a update titled "everyone is here" which is a reference to the ultimate smash bros trailer. in the update it brought, hollow knight and his pure nail, shovel knight and his well shovel, hotline miami's bomber jacet which can only be obtained after finding a baseballbat and smashing open a door (while a enemy is behind it to stun them and then kill said enemy) and so many more
did you know that one horror game directly references another. just play That's Not My Neighbor and look at the names. additionally, the nightmare mode has a neighbor that looks very familiar.
Ive had that dance happen while chilling in the saints hideout
Only me that want an remaster on saints row 1 and saints row 2. I play saints row 3 alot and love it. Saints row 1-3 is the best one
Please do a lego Harry Potter vid. Every character has a unique wand charge, and I’m sure there are tons of Easter eggs in this huge 2 disk game
There's another one in the graveyard, there's an open grave and when you first go near it a man falls from the sky wearing like a space helmet and falls in it and dies
Maybe the 2 headed fish is a reference to fallout, since so many creatures in that series have 2 heads due to radiation.
I've heard that Jason can't swim but in many of the films he does just fine in water, hell he even manages to climb aboard a boat from the water in that New york film and seems to have no issue killing people or catching up with them via the water. Happy to be proven wrong, i've watched most of the films but not enough like a absolute fan boy would.
in the cemetery there is an empty grave and if you stare at it for long enough a body will drop out of the sky and fall into the grave
11:40 you release theres a stair case to that you dont need to jump
You missed a couple of moments, a little island with skeleton of loch ness monster and some statue. Swimming monster near same island
900k congrats🎉🎉🎉
Its been a long time since i’ve played SR2, cool 2 c it on this series
This was my favourite game growing up. This and black ops 1 got me into gaming. I’ll never forget the memories me and my brother made playing these, may he rest in peace.
Still love SR2 to this day
You left out my favorite Easter egg the secret island with the volition statue 🗿. If I remember correctly Jason is also in the water by the mask
Idk if it’s SR2 or one but there’s another far off island where you can see the Loch Ness monster swim away
The first time that you fly near the top of the Ultor building a guy will commit sudoku by jumping off the top of the building.
thanks for making this video
i miss Saints Row :(
Same 😢
Roadhouse
Two headed fish is probably a nod to the two headed Brahmin from Fallout.
Dear Captain, it was Europe that made the song The Final Countdown, not Queen :) love your videos ;*
there is also if you stand with a group of people smoking, then your character will approach the group of smokers and take off smoking
i love this game
I'm going to take a wild guess and say that the two-headed fish may be a reference to the Brahmin from Fallout.
LOVE SR2
When captain posts it’s a good day
That crazy man beating the woman in the house is genuinely disturbing... I think I'm going to lose sleep tonight...
"Saints Row 2 has that special sauce that the series has been trying to recreate ever since"
BZZT wrong.
The publishers have never been interested in recreating the magic of SR2, they have only ever been interested in chasing trends, which is why the later games drifted further away.
my favorite Saints Row game
Do Saint Row 4 next
I still have so many volition games on my 360 imo saints row isn’t a gta clone but a better version as to what old gta wanted to be I love the saints row series so much
4:20 Reference to Jason's mother
At the start of bio shock you can his the red bottles and they shot electricity
Also, in BioShock, you can drink alcohol and get drunk if you drink a bit
There are idle hotspots all over.
The prologue and first mission just hook you in and keep you interested, that's why it's so good. That and it did not take itself serious but man, the PC port was an uttter uttr disaster
Which makes me wonder if GOTR added any easeter eggs and secrets that weren't in the base game?
