Great vid been filming for a while/ I film in 16:9 on my 72mm opteka I check in on this Channel basically everytime I can’t figure something out- personally I just like 16:9 more dont @ me But a big point which I don’t think u mention is turn your ois setting off when filming fisheye!!
@@easkate You need that space between the fisheye and the camera due to how they work. If you could add some space to the mk1 by removing the bayo, and getting the correct threaded adapters you can make the MK1 work
Could you link me that LED you're using on the left? I do a lot of nighttime fisheye clips with my hmc and I need something like that with the reflective barn doors so the light isn't super focused in the middle.
The hpx 170 can shoot 4:3 in camera and the hmc 150 cant. Im wondering if that makes a difference in image quality when you have to crop the hmc 150 clips in post? Modify message
Hi Ben, do you happen to know anything about the Realm Dist fisheyes and the Deathlens Fisheye Sales ones? Compared to for instance an MK1 lens and the Opteka ones.
Yeah, it's super easy to do this in Resolve to multiple clips at once... even clips you haven't dropped in the timeline yet. Just put a new adjustment clip over the length of your clips, highlight the new adjustment clip then go into the inspector tab, scroll down to "zoom'' and stretch the clip up until your vig is correct.
Can you recommend a shutter speed for the HVX at 60 FPS? I've shot with 1/120 while adjusting the iris and 1/1000 and saw little difference. I know with a DSLR it seems to matter more.
Hey Ben! I have a question, I’m trying to export my footage from my hpx170 to my Mac but when I try to view them before I import to Adobe I can’t view them in QuickTime it’s saying it isn’t compatible what do I do or how to import the the way I can view the clips instead of importing everything and going through and see what is the marked clips? Please any advice will help thanks Ben! 🙏🏼
Ahh, right well since the DVCProHD format uses .MXF files, you might wanna consider downloading VLC player. VLC can run absolutely any video codec known to man, and it's free. That way you can open any of the .mxf files your HPX will spit out. And the only way to see a marked clip on the computer is by using the P2ViewerPlus software. That playsback audio and video at the same time, shows you metadata and also shows you what clips are marked. I can link you those links if you'd like?
@@BenJonesVideographer VLC player is that what you use? And I guess that isn’t too important rn It’s just the major issue I have rn is I can’t see what I’m import until I run it through Adobe

I'm not actually too sure. I don't think it will however due to the fact the MK2 is essentially a 72mm fisheye. You'd need an MK2 for a VX2000 but that won't fit. So you'll need an Opteka
Big legend moves Ben. I see this becoming a very common option in the next few years.
Absolutely. No longer will people need a gym membership just to film a line with that Xtreme Windshield!
go to settings on davinci resolve change resolution to 1440 by 1080 and then select crop frame to fit and it will be 4:3
Really appreciate you making this video, this plus several other videos you have made have really helped me with understanding my new set up.
The thing with the 4:3 safety zone is great! Thx!

Is there a difference between a 52mm and 58mm fisheye for the vignette?
Just got a HMC151e and this was sooooo helpful ❤️🔥
Definitely gonna have to try this out with my hvx
Yes man have fun with it!
Keep up the good work !
Super good video! Thank you!
I have almost the exact same set up. How do you get a good focus? Mine always looks kinda blurry

would it make a difference if you used a 52/58mm spacer ring instead of a 72mm spacer ring?
4:3 HD is still the best.
For damn sure it's my new favourite

is the sony hvr dr 60 hdd compatible with ntsc and palm cameras?
or does each unit come with only format?
thanks brother
Oft I'm not sure mate. I believe the MRC1 is NTSC and PAL friendly so I guess the DR60 would also be region free, but I would ask first
i have vx1000 and 82mm fisheye opteka if i buy 52-82mm Step Up ring will it work properly?
It will be it'll be quite a heavy lens on the front of the vx, adding strain on an already old camera
Hi Ben, do you happen to know anything about the Realm Dist fisheyes and the Deathlens Fisheye Sales ones? Compared to for instance an MK1 lens and the Opteka ones.
It's identical to Opteka/Kapkur so the results are the same
Sweet, thanks for the quick reply!
if you have a 72mm lens for the hvx how do you think that would work if you used a the 82-72 and then another 72 spacer on top of that?
I think you'd have a decent amount of vignette for sure
did you ever end up trying and did you get the 4:3 look?

what is the bes tcompact flash card for sony hvr mrc 1?

Oh man I'm not sure. Probably a 32gb Sandisk? Good speed of course
So, it'll work in AVID, but will it work in Divinci Resolve?
Absolutely not because Divinci Resolve doesn't exist 🤔

1/500th is the one I use, not too much shutter where it looks choppy and not too little where you get motion blur
I cant find a 52mm anywhere 😩
Ben, did you tested 58mm kapkur/opteka with hpx by this method?
Not me personally but Beltway has used it! Looks pretty damn good.
so what's the quickest way to apply this to all the clips without having to do it individually ?
Do you mean scaling to the right size?
