Lu Ten's funeral scene was a great addition to this show. We never see Zuko being the supportive one in the cartoon, so it's nice to see some reciprocity. It strengthens their bond even more.
A lot of people didn't like this version of Bumi because the animated version was very supportive of Aang and put him through the challenges to help him realize Bumi was his old friend. But this version makes sense in the overall theme of Aang's journey: his friends make him stronger
HOW IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THE MUSIC SCORE WHEN IROH AND ZOKU HAD THEIR TALK AT THE FUNERAL! It was the same song iroh sung on the show to his sons grave 🥹
I've noticed that! I mean these folks get a pass because one hasn't seen the show and the other hasn't seen it for years, but I've seen so many supposed "superfans" who completely miss Leaves from the Vine!!!!
Ive been having a lot of fun with these reactions. It's been an interesting experience. Myself and pretty much all of the people in my circle are pretty big Avatar The Last Airbender fans; even most of the reactors I watch. So it's been fun seeing this through the lens of folk who have little to no experience with the source material.
19:43 Not just an added bonus. It's a direct reference and tribute to the cartoon because Bumi and Aang do the exact same thing to do a proper sendoff as friends before Aang continues his journey. If you both decide to watch the cartoon at some point. These episode adaptations have so many wonderful and amazing references and scenes featured in the original animated series. It's why so many fans are excited.
12:35 "No longer certain that one ever does win a war, I am." -Yoda (The Clone Wars) The war did cause everyone to lose something. No one was safe from loss and this show definitely showcased it a lot in their story. “The loneliest people are the kindest. The saddest people smile the brightest. The most damaged people are the wisest. All because they don't wish to see anyone else suffer the way they did.” The last line probably doesn't apply to Iroh or Zuko. Both characters witnessed each other suffer through something really sad and harsh. Zuko comforting his Uncle and staying by his side at the funeral shows that deep down, his heart has always been kind. Uncle Iroh chose to be kinder, smile brightly and a wise man to Zuko because he felt that he needed a friend. The bond between them is so amazing.
Zuko never replaced Lu Ten, but was more like he filled a void where hope was supposed to be. Inspiring him to keep moving forward after such a tragedy. ❤
The first episode I'm so split about: did not understand the direction with Bumi, he was a lot more understanding and joy rather than "you abandon everyone" energy everyone keeps giving Anng. Everything else in the episode work
I think they're going so hard on that to make up for the fact that in this adaptation he didn't run away. He was just off to clear his head but never intended to run away from his responsibility, unlike in the cartoon where he did run away. As a result, in the OG cartoon Aang's guilt is very much an internal struggle that he has to get over, but in this adaptation his guilt is more externally driven.
3:26 is that a Dr Who reference? Love those Silence in the Library episodes. 21:52 might be a too obscure a reference for you to remember because he was only briefly seen in one episode but Victor, the black powder merchant in the Legend of Vox Machina series (se2ep3)was inspired by Bumi the king. Enjoying your reaction to this series.
No it doesn't because that's part of what makes the firenation so dangerous because they can make fire out of nowhere all the other nations have to have something with them besides the airnation. But water and earth need something with them.
Why is it so hard for him to grasp that Katara can freeze water and why is he getting so irritated seeing siblings fight for like 1 minute? Siblings bicker all the time especially at that age.
I've not seen any reactor twig this about 'the tale of the two lovers,' but in the animated series Oma and Shu were identified as a woman and man, respectively. In the live action, Oma and Shu are both referred to with she and her pronouns. A subtle, and nice little canon change to now have them a cross cultural lesbian couple.
Well this is just silly. If you hate the franchise so much, why are you here? Is your life so devoid of meaning that you don't even have anything you ENJOY doing so you have to devote it to hate watching things? Grow up.

I love Iroh and Zukkos relationship.
Iroh lost his son
Zukko needed a real father
They both found each other and filled the gaps of what they lost.

@@LatetotheParty classic lazy reactor excuse

I liked the version from the movie better.
"🎶🎶Twigs... from the branch🎶🎶" 🤣
@@LatetotheParty Now is the time to watch :)
The average firebender can't generate propulsion. They were only able to do it to killed the Airbenders bc the Comet gave them enhanced powers.
Yup
he hasnt seen the show and they havent explained the comet up till this point
Ahh, that makes sense thanks for the info.

I loved Iroh so much in this episode, they are really doing interesting things with his character. I broke so hard at the funeral scene

Falling so slow

Secret tunnel! Secret tunnel!
Believe it or not, Bumi has been *very* toned down for the live action. He was even more eccentric (and much less jaded) in the animated show.

They toned down Bumi and made him more serious.
so sad you guys don't know leaves from the vine.

Yes, that was absolutely a Silence in the Library reference. 😉
We remember Victor, and you're right. They're very similar!
damm it leaves on a vine Whyyyyy
I'm not sure who sounds more awkward in live action, Aang or Luffy talking about friendship. Aang has better performed companions though.

i mean, firebenders can spit fire so it makes sense waterbenders can do this 6:34

Loving the reactions hope, even if it's not as a reaction, you go back and watch the animated series. This episode will mean even more to you
Anyone else think this show is borderline PG-13 with the on-screen burning deaths, topics and some other things going on?

The guy's reaction is becoming annoying treating every scene as joke that it became less and less watchable the more he talks
Welcome to the party, pal. 😎👍
Then leave
this has to be the single worst adaptation of an already mediocre cartoon to ever disgrace television.

Really dissing the greatest cartoon ever made.
you're actually delusional if you think this is ANYWHERE near the movie
Idiot.
