    After some additional thoughts, in a theoretical Season 2 for this Adaptation they probably wouldn't be returning to Omashu. So they likely decided to use the Cave of Two Lovers episode here. I still think its misplaced as its a great episode for Aang and Katara in the original show.

      all in all I really have the first 4 episodes on the whole 2nd(SOKKA SUKI), but I also have a little negative point, we have not yet had a scene with Aang starting to practice learning water control

      I think they do return to Omashu because remeber in season 2 there was an episode called "RETURN TO OMASHU".
      And remember, in the war Bumi is now preparing for, he gets captured by the fire nation and they take over Omashu when Team Avatar returns.
      Maybe they'll do that twist with Kataang cause they'll be older and can act out the romance scene better. Plus the actor who plays Aang will be Katara's height by szn 2.
      I dont think the Katara and Aang scene would work in szn 1 espcially cause how he looks too much like a baby; it would be weird. They're building more of a slower friends to lovers arc.
      BUT I DO AGREE THAT THEY DIDNT HAVE TO PUT THAT SCENE THERE😭 nobody asked for the CAVE OF 2 SIBLINGS. But I think its too soon to jump to conclusions about season 2 and what might or might not show up
      I think they used the cave to build Katara and Sokka's relationship I guess cause they did really fight a lot in szn 1 of the show.

      I feel like for season 2 they will return to Omashu but they can give a full dedicated episode to it or maybe to another topic (Zuko alone maybe?). I say they kinda squeezed some s2 stories into s1 to be able to be more inclusive of book 2.

    While they could have had Aang develop a crush on Katara, realistically, it wouldn't be believable for the love thing in the tunnel to work between these characters. What kind of love would the mole badger sense if they had only spent a couple of days together at this point in the story?

    In my opinion it feels too soon for Aang and katara to have their moments, I know that’s how it was in the anime but because of the length of the adaptation it makes more sense for them not to focus on their relationship. I mean you can see how he is struggling with the guilt and responsibility of being the avatar, and because there are only a few episodes in the season it made sense for him to think of Katara as a friend for now and then hopefully in season 2 their relationship can develop more. That’s one of the reasons I was ok with monk gyatso being the reason aang goes out of his avatar state, since at that point he barely had a relationship with katara and yes he could relate to her but his love for gyatso made more sense to me. I think season two will make up my mind about whether I really like the show or not.

      Same sentiments. 😅 The love thingy on a 12 year pld doesn't sit right with me. The cartoons made it work but in LA it doesn't

    katara looks like a teenager while Aang’s actor looks like a 8 year old boy because he hasn’t hit puberty yet during filming this season so I’m glad they had katara and Sokka in the tunnel together instead

    • @darshan8668
      @darshan8668 9 месяцев назад +2

      I still think they should've alluded to aang having a crush on Katara,even a little bit. It plays a big part in book 2 when he had to make a choice of letting go of his love for Katara for gaining a control over avatar state.

    • @Quadelen
      @Quadelen 9 месяцев назад +7

      @@darshan8668 I think because it’s only only 8 episodes it made more sense to focus on Aang’s guilt and the emotions he felt learning about the 100 year war and the genocide . I feel like they will focus on that relationship a lot more in seasons 2 hopefully as Gordon has actually has started to hit puberty.

    The decision not to depict Aang and Katara entering the tunnel in the show stems from the absence of a showcased love interest between the two, leading to the introduction of Sokka And Katara’s sibling love dynamic instead. Additionally, child actor Gordon Cormier's youthful appearance may have influenced this choice, as he currently seems too young to portray romantic interest. If the series progresses and the actors age, there may be an opportunity for romantic storylines to develop. Unlike the One Piece live-action, where actors seem to have stopped growing, the child actors in this series are expected to grow rapidly, presenting unique challenges.

    I think it's important to remember that Gordon/Aang was actually 11 and Kiawentiio/Katara was late 14 when they started filming. It's not that big of an age gap in the grand scheme, but when you're that young, I mean that's the difference between someone in elementary vs middle school. It's REALLY awkward. I'm really not mad they decided to hold off on introducing romantic subplots for them until they're a bit older - now a much more sure thing since seasons 2 and 3 were announced. I just really don't want to force two young kids to smooch. I would get secondhand Oogies. As you said, it will be interesting to see how it pays off down the road. Now, did they pull off the tunnel scene with sibling love as well as they could have? Eh. I'm neutral on it, didn't love it, didn't hate it. There's no doubt there's some clunky writing and not great pacing to be had here and there, however that's mostly on Netflix and the showrunners and the various circumstances I've read about, I won't get into it here. I think the actors do great with what they are working with, and I don't see the point in dunking on young talent when they're just getting started. ATLA fans already ran the last movie Aang out of showbiz. 😕
    I DID however love literally everything Zuko/Iroh in this season. When it hit me what song was being ever so softly hinted at in the score of the funeral scene, I lost it. And I mean lost it where I had to stop and take a minute. I know Paul's take on Iroh is not everyone's cup of tea (eh? ehh?) but personally I see what I think his angle is, and I'm happy they've brought him to earth a bit by reminding us that he is indeed probably a war criminal. Also simply just trying to copy Mako I think would come off as disrespectful caricature, IMO. My biggest hope going forward is that we take all the good stuff with us and iron out things in the writer's room.

    I can definitely understand feeling like the Cave of Two Lovers was misplaced here and heard others about that as well but I did read that while they were in production of the show, they weren't sure how well received it was going to be, or if this was gonna be a 1 season, done and move on show. So they wanted to add in from other seasons for the fans, just in case they don't get a season 2. As for why they changed it from Aang to Sokka is beyond me though lol

    I disagree earth bending arent the worst of 4 element but I do agree it takes a moment to conjure a rock, take an example like King bumi and Toph they are the strongest earth benders. If you ask me water is lesser element which they need water to bend.

    Katara & Jet has some on-screen chemistry so does Katara & Zuko, i didn't really see any with Katara & Aang imo,, They're more like siblings, i mean Aang is literally 12 y/o & just woke up after 100 years with great responsibility on his shoulder, how can he even have the time for a young romance.
