  • Today's video is encouragement for those who are hoping to find joy and purpose at home.
Humanity has long held the desire to provide a haven from the outside world, a shelter from the elements. Are homes are such places.
Homes come in all shapes and sizes, as does the art of homemaking.
We can, at times, find ourselves grumbling about needing to maintain and care for our spaces. We might get overwhelmed by all there is to do.
I am challenging you today to view homemaking in a new way. Instead of focusing on the work that goes into each task, consider instead the feelings and benefit that these tasks provide.
When we frame our mindset toward caring for our homes in a positive light, we can begin to find joy and purpose in our homemaking.
    All the best!
    xo
    Angela

I apologize to you for the viewers that left those rude remarks.
I so appreciate your videos and outlook on life and homemaking. Even tho my husband and I both work and don't have children, I still consider myself a homemaker.
I take pride in keeping my home clean, safe, welcoming and comfortable for us.
After our faith, home comes first and is the most important thing to us after our faith.
My warmest, fondest memories are of being raised by my grandparents. My mom mom provided the most loving, safe haven home for us. I learned all of my life and homemaking skills from her. She tirelessly kept a home for us with cooking, cleaning, baking, sewing, warmth, love, compassion, acceptance, understanding, organizing and laughter, all while she and pop pop worked full time.
These values they instilled in me took me to adulthood and having my own home to manage and take pride in.
These are the things I remember, not how much money we had, or the possessions we had. It was the home they made for us that I remember most.

I have the same story as you! My Nana and Pap were my safe haven in this world. Country people with very little money but so much love. They gardened, canned, farmed, cooked from scratch and kept a clean and frugal home. I wouldn't trade my time with them for any amount of money. They were my port in the storm and I'm forever grateful to them.

This is so important. For quite a while homemaking has been looked down upon but I think that society is slowly starting to come back to this - realizing just how important it is and, like you said, how it can affect the whole fabric of society.

Thank you Angela, for encouraging so many of us to take joy in making our homes a haven for ourselves and our families.
I work outside our home part-time as a dental hygienist, but my real contentment is found in my home.

Thank you so much! I think there is some confusion out there that if you have a job outside the home (or even if you work at home), you can’t be a homemaker - and I think that is so untrue! We all strive to make these spaces special for ourselves and our families! Thanks for watching! ❤️

Thank you for highlighting this part of life...I can honestly say that since I have decluttered and simplified my home, I enjoy homemaking so much more. I dreaded it before because I had more than I could manage. I find satisfaction in being able to do the daily tasks that make for a functional and peaceful home. My husband has been blessed by this simpler and decluttered life and has been such an encouragement and help too! I only wish I had done this years ago!

We had that same experience! It was like a weight was lifted off, and there was space in my brain to start appreciating what I was caring for and seeing it as a blessing instead of a burden! I'm so happy you have more peace now! Thanks for watching!

Having a home to care for is such a privilege and an opportunity to provide hospitality to ourselves, not only to friends and family. The French say, « Même un trou si c’est à soi! » (Even a hole in the wall if it is yours.) Having been raised as an Army Brat all over the world I have strong feelings about how all our military mothers managed to create safe, wonderful homes for us in sometimes less than brilliant circumstances. I hope to emulate Mom in the care I give to mine.

Thank you so much for this video! I loved your comment that “ taking care of your home is act of love “. I spent many years working outside the home, while raising my children. Our house was never complete mess but it wasn’t as clean as I would have liked. I’m retired now but have had two of my grandchildren full time for the last 12 years. As I have decluttering and simplified our home, I do enjoy homemaking more and talk pride and pleasure in taking care of my home in a way I had never dreamed possible ! Thank you for reminding us that we are showing our love for our family in this way

My husband appreciates it and tells me so, but even if he didn’t, I’d do it anyway. I believe in taking care of what God has given me and try to be a good steward of them.
