  • Welcome to the full review of the Channel Islands Twin Pin, which I have ridden in the stock 5'11 and the stock 6'1.
I have been lucky enough to surf both boards over a variety of conditions, both large and small, and also in good and bad waves!
    From cisurfboards.com/products/twi...
This sexy, versatile twin-finned pintail is a collaboration between Britt Merrick and one of the world’s most stylish surfers, Mikey February. The two wanted to create a board that had all the fun twin feels but enough hold and projection to free you from ever wishing for a third fin or trailer. Designed as an all-rounder, it helps you rip in anything from lame little waves to double overhead rifling walls.
From the nose and toward the back, the bottom is flat, then to a slight roll, and vee in the back half, which creates a buttery board that is both responsive and solid. The rails are low, so most people ride the Twin Pin at least 1/8” thicker than their shortboard. It works best with the special twin fin template Britt designed just for this board that is between a keel and upright and provides the right balance of drive, hold, and manoeuvrability.
The Twin Pin can be ridden with various dimensional approaches according to what you want to do, ride, and feel. Mikey February surfs a 6’0” shortboard and likes his Twin Pins at 5’9” and 5’11” to suit any conditions around the world. Tanner Gudauskas likes his the same length as his normal shortboard for Trestles, and Britt likes to ride his Twin Pins at Rincon a couple of inches longer than his regular shortboards.
The Twin Pin comes in clear or with a resin tinted deck, black lams, and clear bottom.
In the Twin Pin I mainly used two sets of fins, one being the Britt Merrick, which you can find here - shop.cisurfboards.com/product...
Britt Merrick’s hand foiled signature twin fin set is designed to fit between a traditional upright and keel fin. While conceived to maximize the performance and flow of the new CI Twin Pin, the setup works great in any twin fin board when you are looking for the perfect combination of drive, hold, and release.
    Dimensions:
    Depth | 5.31"
    Base | 5.77”
    Area | 23.58 sq in
In the shorter/smaller 5'11 Twin Pin, I preferred the Rob Machado Keel by Futures - futuresfins.com.au/products/m...
The Rob Machado Keel is Rob’s preferred template for his Go Fish model. The template is retro in style and works great for all size surfers. Expect that free feeling, smooth glide that’s fundamental for a keel. The lightweight Honeycomb construction is wrapped with a black exterior graphic and cosmic inner graphic for an entirely modern twist.
Template Category | Keel (speed control, drive, trim)
    Area 25.39
    Height 5.17
    Base 6.57
    Foil FLAT
    Construction | Honeycomb

Craig, initially I ordered a 5’7” twin pin and made it, 2 3/8” thick. Same as my high performance shortboard. It didn’t work, although, it looked insane. It’d been decades since I rode a flat to vee bottom board, and those boards were a lot thicker. Why? Of course, the era. But, vee was introduced to get thicker railed boards on its side, to initiate rail to rail turning. So, a vee bottom sits lower in the water and needs thickness to give the board some lift. Whereas, a concave bottom provides lift at speed and needs a bit thinner rail to control it. So, I went 2” longer and 3/16” thicker, and the board works well in waist to double overhead. Long story, I should’ve watched your review and it would’ve saved me some time. Lol! Another, exceptional review. Cheers

Great board, but I really did need to throw my shortboard volume and sizing out the window to look at this very differently…

Hey! I felt like they're two very different boards, so kind of hard to compare them side by side.
Ideally both board, with the Twin Pin for cruising, and the Twinsman for more high-performance surfing.

Hey Craig , another good review mate. I’m 6’0 and 80kgs and just can’t decide between the 5’11 and the 6’1. Do you think me being a bit lighter than you the 6’1 could be too much volume? Or do they seem to handle the extra foam still. ? Interested on your thoughts after riding both. Thanks, Jake

      Hey! Go bigger!
The experience of most people is they enjoy it longer/bigger. There are a lot of these traded in as people went too small.
