You used the MRs in smaller mushier waves than the other sets of fins. Also, try MRs without the trailing fin and use the rail to help set turns. Your backside surfing with the MRs looked to be your best surfing. Learn the feel of how hard/far you can push your back foot before slipping out and the incorporate the setting the rail for the turns, maybe with a bit more front foot pressure at beginning or turns. If that’s a twin fin board, the MR style upright fin should be the most vertical surfing fin option. Twins are loose as hell too. Learn when to use that slide/slip and when to bury the rail for hold in big slashing turns.
Thank you for the effort. Not trashing the MR fin could be done by surfing the MR Twin with all above mentioned fins. Fins like boards, are not generic
i’ve been riding a 5’10 Rastovich copy true twin w/o a middle box n w keel fins w an extra wide base n medium rake in tip pretty close to the merrick keels shown in video...
I've got a twin flynn and twin flynn 2,wondering about getting a jett. Love the keel in the twin flynn, got modern upright keels in the flynn 2. Still feeling them and that board out, fun times when surfs good but still love the K2 keels and the all round surfing of the original flynn........ Been wondering about having a hoon on some Mrs but thing fin placement won't suit anyway
Hey mate I’ve got a Tommy Dalton Twin Flynn2 and am contemplating The Jett…the boards looks good. Can I ask why you chose eps/epoxy over pu? I’m thinking the same…what’s durability like? Thanks
Its expensive but get the epoxy with carbon rods on both sides. it sits like a pu in the water but has that spring effect that feels great in small weak waves. I asked Tommy for extra cloth layers on the rear foot toe/heel. The board is strong - wouldn't stress about that.
@@SURFINGinNEWZEALAND OK thanks Rodney, I'll go with the epoxy as you suggest. Can you please share your dims I see it's around 27L? which would be perfect for me and where I live in Mangawhai. Cheers
@@SURFINGinNEWZEALAND Awesome thanks I have placed my Jett order with Tommy based on your recommendation eps/epoxy...can you clarify in your vids you have the size as 5'7...do you have two 5'6 and 5'7 or just the 5'6? I weigh the same as you.
It's always awesome to watch another prospective of surfboard & equipment capabilities 🤙
Thanks for the good advise ( from Peru)
Great input.. away from your standard "this is what you should use". Best to experiment and find out what best works for you.
Ripping man.. 🤙🤙🤙.. good sick waves! 🤙🤙..
Thanks 😊

Thrue that i ride a MRs and i'm in love .good turns on the backside
That was over surfing the crap outta that wave. Keel fins were the only time he looked good
I may have missed it but did you show the shape of your board in your video to see what kind if board you tested the fins on?
Nice
Nice video. You actually surf backside better than front hand...IMO :) I always had a very good backhand too.
Haha, thanks...
Depends on wave size and juice of the waves.

Sure..but they don't make them in Futures template...and I didn't trash them. I said it didn't go for me...others love them so I'm the minority!

Great...for this board the trailer made it feels settled

After watching this I'll give rasta sea sheperd keels another go
Yeah for sure. I always thought keels are for cruising...
@@SURFINGinNEWZEALAND yea bruh i felt that they were kinda sticky compared to upright fins.
Rasta keel went amazing the other day. a lot more hold than upright fins i reckon.
@@dukeflyingcow Awesome!
where abouts is this bro?
the two plus 1s looked better than the jjs
but the keels were def the best
Where is that bro
Finorangatiratanga
KEEL isniceflow!
This guy is from Arrakis
Had to Google that..still not sure haha
100%
Bluest eyes
Haha, not good for surfing tho. They get burnt easy
Is it just me? I thought you were surfing better on anything but the keels.
Yeah I agree, the keels looked sluggish. I'd say you had the best flow with the MR's
hi mate, which ones did you have the most speed?
def the keel!
