I'm planning on rewatching all my Sergio Martino films in a month or so (both for a piece I'm planning on writing, and of course for fun) and since I haven't seen 'Bloody Iris' in a bit I'll include that to break them up - with the bonus of recurring actors providing continuity. 'Colours' might always be my personal favourite, but they're all great. Actually, 'Your Vice...' is a bit of a favourite too, for Edwige's Louise Brooks-style bob. It's not shallowness, it's appreciation.

One thing kept cracking me up, though, and watching this video I now remember was it was---it was the way you kept referring to all the movies as "cozy"----I'd never heard that before! And here it is again---the "Cozy " rating!!!!!!! Love it!!!!! We have both of these films but have so far only watched ALL THE COLORS (which we loved). You figure when you marry a movie critic (she hates being called a critic) you'll end up watching way more movies than you actually do. Someday we'll fire up STRANGE VICE, I'm sure----
You are very perceptive at picking up on what makes these movies tick. I have to agree with you that All the Colours is not a Giallo. You should now compare Mrs W, with the Bloody Iris which would be comparing apples to apples. Though a movie can be good if you never plan to rewatch it. When you go back to rewatch films you might start seeing the problems or the movie loses its suspense.
Case of the Bloody Iris for me. Sometimes I'll really get into it and love All the colours of the dark, and other times I'll be really loving All the colours right up to the part where it becomes a typical slasher/giallo movie. Where she's at the villa and the old couple are murdered, etc. bloody iris, I love it all the way through. The main reason why I don't watch Mrs.Wardth that much, is the same reason why I don't watch My bloody Valentine, Mother's day, etc as much. Because those are very special films and I want them to remain strong. That's why I've decided to go a few years without watching Alien and Pet Semetary. I want to give them a couple years off. Same with Suspiria. Same with Jaws. There are some films where I am like "I can watch this every single year" and other films where "I only watch this film every 4-6, maybe 7 years." Now in terms of Blood Iris vs Strange vice; Strange vice all the way. Absolutely.

It's interesting that Giuliano Carnimeo didn't go on to do many (if any) more Giallo considering he made one of most famous ones. I've still never seen Case of the Bloody Iris. I need to check it out.

I don’t get the impression these two are your faves, but a short haired Edwige showdown of YOUR VICE IS A LOCKED ROOM AND ONLY I HAVE THE KEY Vs. STRIP NUDE FOR YOUR KILLER would rock just the same.
The short look suited her well too though she's pretty much stayed longhaired in her whole career, as far as I can tell. Weren't they bewigged characters too in those two films, just like the beginning of The Case of the Bloody Iris.
I enjoy these showdowns and hope you keep doing them, even if they are about different actors or types of movies. Personally, I enjoyed All the Colors better. I don't really have a reason, it just worked better for me, as Case of the Bloody Iris just felt flat. Of course there is no wrong choice when it comes to Edwige Fenech. Also, nothing wrong with wearing Obituary again, good choice.

The only thing that really bums me out about the Bloody Iris score is how quiet the song 'Jennifer's Recall' is during the flashback scene.. I really wish they would've cranked that up and either turned down the dialogue or cut it out altogether. The song is so moving and goes amazingly with the visuals, but it doesn't really get a chance to fully shine.

I became interested in European horror flicks back in 1982 when I read a book called "Classic Movie Monsters". I'm not a huge fan of Edwige, though she is beautiful! I'm impressed with your knowledge of the genre actors. By chance, are you interested in the films of Paul Naschy?

You probably know this already that Jack Taylor dubbed Naschy for the English language versions of Horror Rises From the Tomb, Blue Eyes of the Broken Doll, and maybe A Dragonfly for Each Corpse.

@@hanng1242 I'm a sucker for weird movies with dream sequences. Watch The Killer Wore Gloves. Very similar to Bloody Iris. Music sounds like an 80s video game. Think Super Mario Bros levels 1-2 and 1-4. There's more suspense and atmosphere. The killer is often stocking in the dark with more first person views.

The Case of the Bloody Iris is so bloody entertaining and is a true giallo so it wins for me.
Both of these movies are nothing but a good time. Showed the Bloody Iris 4K to friends at the weekend and it killed. Ps. Obituary rule 🤘
