What you said about your green boucle sweater was so sweet! 💚 Glad they can be put to good use. And I LOVE the yarn you used on the Musselburgh! Have a great week.
Your heirloom is beautiful. I also struggle with the seaming and weaving in of ends. In the new year I started scheduling one Sunday afternoon a month to weave, seam and repair knitwear. It has helped so far as I don't resent taking that time as it is only a few hours a month. I don't always get through everything I had thought I would but seeing the progress I have made has really motivated me to continue with it. It has really been amazing what I have gotten done. I love the green sweater (boucle?) I don't know how to spell that..ha. I love the look of that fabric but know I wouldn't wear it, I struggle with the feel of it in my hands when knitting. I will live vicariously through yours. ha. We had spring weather last week here in Calgary, AB Canada and then were dumped on with snow this week. Our March and April are all over the place as we never know what weather will come in from the mountains so all that to say I am still well into the winter knits and haven't thought of spring yet.
I loved The Vampire Knitting Club book! Completely agree with your assessment. I have read a couple more in the series but quit because they truly are all the same.
Rebecca Clow of Creabea podcast has a video tutorial in her Lanark sweater. It has a short zipper at the neck, so similar to yours. I steaked a sweater and sewed in a zipper. It was a striped sweater, so I really had to get things even. I used a lot of pins, to get everything straight and it wasn’t too hard. Good luck! Always fun to learn something new!
ooooo great advice. I love Rebecca at the Creabea podcast, I don't know how I didn't know about this. I must have missed it. I will definitely watch that video. Thanks for the advice and encouragement!
More zipper input! AKANoraKnits is definitely a channel/person you need to check out! She did Staci Perry/Very Pink Knits’ “How to knit a men’s sweater” pattern for her dad & it had a quarter zip & a tutorial on how to install zippers on knits so they move with them instead of being stiff, and it’s a bit fiddly, but brilliant and definitely what I will be using. She (Nora) ALSO did a Boulevard Bag which is so much like yours it’s crazy. So I would definitely check out those two videos of hers! I also thought I had the exact same Teal Torch Knits green, but mine is called Unlikely Flatmate. I got it to go with a bright blue for Seahawks socks! 😆🧦💚💙💚
so fun!!! This zipper input is 10/10, thank you! I am definitely going to check her channel and videos out about this. Also, I love the name of your yarn.
Hello from Swansea, Illinois. Sew by hand with a running stitch it will be just fine. Trying to use a sewing machine will make it difficult unless you use a stabilizer.
Okay, I am on book 6 of the Vampire knitting club, great for when your brain doesn't want to brain. To go with the lion the witch and the wardrobe, you need to read the magicians nephew. I personally own the whole set from when I was in middle school, great series.
I do want to keep reading the others in the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe series. But instead, I spent a bit of today reading book #2 of the vampire knitting club. I love how you said: it's "great for when your brain doesn't want to brain" lol
I'm definitely listening to Iron Flame again...there are so many clues that you don't realize ARE clues until after the end. I can't wait for the next book to come out! I also felt the same way about the Vampire Knitting Club books....they were terrible, fun books to read. I'm currently trying to finish my Blanket of Calm that I started at the beginning of covid. It's 300 (!!!) squares, and they are all connected, but the weaving in ends is killing me slowly, lol! Definitely trying to finish it up though...so I can cast on more projects 😬😬😬
That's so intense! I can't even complain about my 27 rectangles when you have 300 lol. And, YES, I need to reread Iron Flame and find the clues before the third book comes out.
I’m not finished watching but I feel the need to comment on your zipper quandary! I sew and I don’t feel confident about installing a zipper in a knitted item either. Another podcaster said that she took her sweater to a tailor and they sewed the zipper in for her. Since you’re “terrified” about the zipper, this option might work for you 😊.
That's a super great suggestion. We do have a really great seamstress in my town, too. It did not even cross my mind to contact her. I will chew on this suggestion. Part of me is like: this is brilliant! The other part me is like: girl conquer your fears and figure this out!
I agree that it’s a good opportunity to tackle something challenging and learn a new skill. For me, I don’t foresee myself knitting a lot of projects that require sewn-in zippers, so I figure life is too short to agonize about it. I actually hope you do try it and overcome your fear!
That boucle jumper is looking so great!! Actually all your WIPS look so fun at the moment.
aww thanks Hannah
I vote you make a scrappy Musselburgh with the Chelsea advent scraps and wear it with the cardigan!
Oh that's a terrific idea!
I have a subconscious green obsession too, I am so drawn to greens at the moment! Great episode as always Nicole 💗💚💗
aww thanks Aleksandra!
First off, I love that you are literally sparkling!
haha, you noticed my hair glitter! I love it!
My favorite hat!!!
It's a good one!

Thanks for the needles, Dora! I think of you every time I use them now. Thank you!
❤❤❤❤
That musselburgh! So good. I always wear with a folded brim.
aw thanks! I just love the look and feel of the folded brim 💓
I've done a magic knot ball, but you use those to make a Cozy Memory blanket or a Jelly Roll blanket.
fun!
I’m a green lover also.
so fun!
💚🌿💚🌿💚
green love!

That's a really great idea to have sewing/seaming Sunday! I feel like I need some sort of accountability like this.
Oooo, you could do an I-cord bind-off on your sweater body. I have done this a few times and it works great.❤
fun idea!

I just finished these second one and I can see that! haha, I am surprised at how much I have loved these two, but I can see tiring of them.
I am thinking of making an anthology shawl from a knot ball.
oh that sounds really fun!

Just a tip. -someone else may have mentioned this. -use binder clips rather than pins to secure your zipper
oh wow! that's a good one, and no one has mentioned this yet. thanks!
On Ravelry, check out BOB Sleeveless top free pattern.
Thanks for sharing!

Did you ever think of trying to do a Boucle Love Note? Idk how the lace chart would look in Boucle…
GENIUS. No I had no thought of it... but YES.

Can we talk about Iron Flame spoilers somewhere?? Because...wow do I have thoughts 😅
Right! I almost thought about starting a Discord for people to talk to me about it lol
@@professorpurl yesss I would participate!!
Green?!? Who even are you? I feel like I don’t even know you anymore?!?? lol 😂 😂😂
right?! I don't even know what happened.
