Don’t feel bad about your Love Note KAL-the fall semester is exhausting, and you’ve had a lot going on in addition. For your leftover Spincycle…designer Briana Arlene released a pattern last month called the Wild Iris Hat. She specifically designed it to use up leftover Spincycle! I was a tester, and it was a really fun pattern that results in a suuuuuper squishy hat. You could also use the Alpine Bloom motif and make it into a hat (I know there’s a pattern for it as well, if you don’t want to math it out yourself).

Great to catch up with what you're doing. Zigzag stitch would be the one to use for a stretchier hem on stretchy fabric (not sure if you used that on the leg or not). I've sewed the kids some outfits in the past, not halloween but just dress ups. The latest project I did was for my youngest school formal. It was a David Bowie inspired suit. I didn't make the suit but just enhanced it with some lightning bolts and a big star on the back which was fun. Safe travels! xx

Leftover spincycle you could make the matching hat. I have done several hats of the alpine bloom. You can make more than one hat with the one skein. I made my daughter a leather skirt with a beaded trim for a concert when she sang a Tina Turner song. I had leftover leather from making a seat cover for my husband's airplane. A tip... you could practice a hem on the sleeve and leg that you cut off or sewing on trim from the costume.

You could get a couple of scrunchies out of that gorgeous Japanese fabric…

Hi Nicole! EPIC Halloween costume!! When my kids were younger, I did some themed family costumes. One year the two kids were ladybugs and I made ladybug wings they could wear and they had black headbands with black curly antennae and I wore the youngest on my back and I was a leaf with a felt leaf headband and green face paint to make myself more leaf-like lol. And my husband was a farmer. LOVE the contrast in your Alpine Bloom yoke. You could tie the square scarf around a part of your leather tote handle for a little flair? Hello, Professor Purl. I have a question about this pattern. I just purchased it from Ravelry and reading the pattern, which is a habit of mine when starting a new project. After casting on, the pattern states “knit 8 rounds”. Is it “8 rounds of knitting” or “8 rounds of rib, knit 1, purl 1”? Please help 🫤! Am I reading too much in to the pattern???

I have been burned too many times with gauge swatches! I usually start the sweater and measure as i go (even with only two inches in) to see if my gauge is correct. IDK why, 9/10 times I was off with my gauge swatch (even appropriately swatching in the round with appropriate needles, washing, etc.).!

Your Alpine Bloom looks incredible!!! And I think your new skein from Moondrake will be just fine, that's the beauty of color changing yarn - even if it's totally different it's supposed to change colors! And it will still all be bright because that's the nature of the colorway, so I think it will work out great.

Mabel is a cutie! We lost our boy a year ago and it is just the saddest thing. Hubby wants to get another but I don’t think I’m ready for that yet. He was 17 so such a huge part of our lives. Hoping the Alpine Bloom is coming along nicely. Love it 😘

Mabel is super cute. ohhhh I am glad that you didn’t cut the yarn. You colourwork looks beautiful, your monster mash sock are super cute. I think you are not wearing the blue one due to the colour. Perhaps over dye it to suit your pinky peachy purply vibe? It has great lace I can see it in a deeper colour.
