I love the idea of the make 9. I would be struggling to breathe if i had 20/30 wips lol. Congrats on your crochet shawl, it is beautiful. when you can do the granny stitch in crochet you do anything. I want to do more cables and have a go at colour work. Happy New Year from Ireland🤗🤗🍀🍀
Love how you're making the "Make 9" concept work for you! I don't do a Make 9 because I just don't feel the need to make one (others can do whatever works for them!). Cheering you on as you finish those WIPs!!! YOU GOT THIS!!!!!!!!!!!
I have never done a make 9 because I love the feeling / process of daydreaming about what may be next while I am finishing the current big work in progress. I try not to have too many big things going at once so that I can actually feel like I am getting somewhere and don't feel overwhelmed. I have many sweater quantities and plans in my queue but part of the fun is going with my mood for each next project. Good luck on finishing up these WIPs! You will feel amazing when they are complete and you can enjoy them off the needles.
Nicole, that you so much for sharing your make nine. I’ve never made one, but as soon as you said you were including wips it made me want to make one with my wips and maybe a few new cast ons. You were genius for using your advent for your heirloom cardigan, I have to use an advent that might turn into the heirloom cardigan thanks to you.
aww thanks! I loved other people's make 9s for years but haven't felt like making one with new projects was right for me. and, thanks! I hope the heirloom cardigan is completed this year. It will be epic if I finish it!
I thought you'd like knowing that you totally motivated me to finish my heirloom quilt cardigan. It took 10 months, and it is a dream to wear. Can't wait to see yours!
OMG girl just pick up that buttonband and do it! It will take you like one or two nights and then boom you've got a finished sweater! (says the woman who procrastinated knitting sleeves for like 3 months and then it took 2 days to knit them) 🤣🤣 Anyway, love the idea of a make 9 with wips instead of new cast ons, you got this!! The only knitting related intention I am setting this year is getting to spend time with you in person again ❤
I loved your Make 9 WIPs. I don’t do a Make 9 board because I change my mind so often about what I want to make (or need to make for gifts). I also get distracted with learning new techniques, so when I find a technique that’s interesting, I want to cast on a project for that right away. I do have a goal of finishing my first sweater. I’m on the sleeves, so I’m almost done. It wasn’t nearly as difficult as I thought it would be, but like you, I just got bored. My first new technique I’m trying this year is ladderback jaccard since I love color work, but the lack of stretch in the fabric and catching the floats only to have them peek through Eve once in a while not so much. Ladderback jaccard is supposed to bestretchier and the caught floats don’t show through, so we’ll see. I’m fairly new to your podcast, and I’m enjoying it so much! Super excited for the next one!! ❤
Thanks so much for coming over here and checking the podcast out! :) I want to try ladder back jaccard one day (right now, I just don't caught any floats ever).
Happy new year!! I'm very excited! We will be there for 9 days before heading to Sweden. Some highlights include Sky Lagoon, Golden Circle, Thingvellir National Park, Diamond Beach, and Jokularson Glacier Lagoon.
thank you for sharing your updates!! you need to tag up with a friend who likes the boring stuff in knitting who can do your button bands / etc. in my knitting group we have people pass around things like this!! lol
Nicole, give your future self a win by finishing your Icelandic sweater now so that you won't be scrambling to finish right before your trip when you will have a million other things to think about. You will feel joy when you pull out that finished beauty and put it in your suitcase. Plus of all your wips this one seemed to have minimal work to finish.
Wow I can believe you have so many things on your needles. I am jealous lol. I don’t think I could keep up mentally but your a young professional with a active mind. I am 64 don’t like but maybe a sock a shawl or scarf and then maybe a sweater. You are such a inspiration for sure. I was watching A lovely Yarn and she is doing A Granny Square Shawl by chrochetObjet it cute and was thinking of doing that one which she designed to just lay on the shoulders like a crescent. Not long in the back but seems to stay better on the shoulders. She also has a podcast here called ChrochetObjet Knitting. Good luck with all your projects and look forward to your progress Judy
yes, my WIPs are ridiculous lol :) but maybe this will be the year I finish some of them! I will check that granny square shawl out! it sounds like something I would love. thanks for watching!
I don't do Make 9s because I feel that would take the joy out of my knitting but that being said, your Make 9s are SO DOABLE! I think you should start with the one most done already (the steeked sweater) and work your way to least done. It would be so cool for you to wear the steeked sweater in Scandinavia!! Looking forward to seeing your FOs. I have now added Le Triangle to my queue.
I made a list of 12 projects I wanted to make this year that I already have the yarn and patterns for. I’m also trying to work through some of my wips. I set a goal for myself to work two sections of one of my wips per day and then I can move on and work on one of the new projects from my list. I’ve made a lot of progress this week on my cardigan wip and hopefully I’ll have it finished while it is still cold outside.
I get so bored with stockinette sweater bodies also! I have found I have to take it to the movie theater & work on it instead of socks, then I get quite a bit done.
I have not made a Make 9 board. I am afraid to lock myself in to those 9 projects. I am afraid I would loose interest and have to switch around too much. 😂
Happy belated New Year! Love you wips for your make nine board. Look forward to seeing your progress - very inspiring, beautiful knits. 😊
Good for you for having your WIPs as your Make 9! You can do it!!!
Thanks! I just finished one of them. So, I'm off to a good start :)
I love that your Make 9 is WIPS! Loved seeing and hearing about them. Take care ❤
aww thanks! you too!
Happy New Year to you and your family! From Swansea, Illinois.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hi Janet! Happy new year to you too!

Thanks! Yeah, although I enjoy looking at the Make 9 boards, I haven't felt like they would be good for me until I thought about my WIPs.
Great great podcast! You can do all 9 for sure! Icelandic sweater would be great to finish…with support! The Zoom idea is great! Just do it! ❤
Thanks so much! I think the Zoom will "set the date" on the time I work on the button band.

daydreaming about the next project is one of the best things about our craft. I totally resonate with that and not wanting to make a make 9 board!!
I love that you made a make 9 with your WIPs. Also, just get that button band picked up!!!
Yes, I need to!

yes, girl! I love that intention ❤❤❤and you are right, it's JUST a button band on a sweater...

Hello and Happy New Year from Iceland, Love your sweater , Hope you are gonna have a lovely time in Iceland in May. Love to hear all about it 🤩
Happy new year!! I'm very excited! We will be there for 9 days before heading to Sweden. Some highlights include Sky Lagoon, Golden Circle, Thingvellir National Park, Diamond Beach, and Jokularson Glacier Lagoon.
thank you for sharing your updates!! you need to tag up with a friend who likes the boring stuff in knitting who can do your button bands / etc. in my knitting group we have people pass around things like this!! lol
haha, that's so funny and cute. that would be epic to have a friend knit my button band lol
Can’t wait to see your alpine bloom for rose city. I was thinking that could be a goal for it then you said it!
Thanks! :) There's still time for you to fall in love with knitting flowers lol

You are so right. Future Nicole will be thankful she is not stressed and has an Icelandic sweater to wear on her trip.

same same! that's how I felt for years. This is the first time I felt like making one and it's WIPs 😂
