🧶I FINALLY watched @EliseRoseCrochet ‘s 2025 trend predictions and I’m not surprised we have a few of the same thoughts. I would LOVE to hear your predictions (or trend wishes)!⬇️
I love seeing all of the trends that we had in the 90s back in style. I was in college in the early-mid 90s and now I work for my alma mater and my daughter attends college there, too, and it’s weird how college students look pretty much the same 30 years later, just with less hairspray and makeup. And my daughter isn’t embarrassed to wear my creations to class. ❤
I have a bit of a hot take on yarn fiber. I'm limited in hand mobility, so I either use up energy for hand washables or I crochet. "Sustainable" fibers do not allow for both. So if it's machine washable I can sustain my crochet hobby. 🤷♀️
That is also an excellent point. Even if someone does not have physical limitations, if they're constantly burnt out adding a handwashing chore would be awful. Like, I know I can save my scraps and donate but... then I have to store them, remember to take them with me when I go into town which is a bit if a drive, remember to stop to drop them off after hours of shopping. My sanity is worth more than a few bucks' worth of yarn.
You might want to use superwash wool yarns. That is what I use for myself and my customers. Like you say, washable items are sustainable for our fiber habits ☺
I'm literally knitting ribbed shorts while watching this video :'D Also agree on temperature blankets getting pushed out in favour of other things - I've seen people talking about making temperature snakes instead! Not sure about more intricate techniques trending though, I feel like people prefer simpler projects generally. Like how the hexagon cardigan got popular - it's easy to make, but looks ~designer~. I think home accessories will be popular, because the zoomers are slowly moving out of their parents' homes and crochet is huge with that generation. Crochet tapestries had a moment this year, I predict more 'usable' stuff like potholders, dishclothes, coasters, etc. And yes, the occasional rug - but probably with a more simple technique then wiggle crochet.
🤣 That's golden - I bet they're great shorts! I saw those temperature snakes. Neat idea. I don't think simple stuff will go away because there will always be beginners but a lot of novices may start itching to do more. Who knows - it's just a fun thought. I will say, I made and posted this video before I went to buy paper towels and my eyes about popped out when I saw they'd nearly doubled in price. I went stash diving for crochet cotton because I didn't have many rags so I do agree on that for sure. I even made a swiffer cover since the pads have never been cheap and this way its reusable.
I had totally forgotten to check the Pantone colors of the year before ordering my yarns for 2025 ( I am an artisan socks knitter). Guess what, I must be connected to the gods LOL. I choose moka tints as the main color for my gentleman production for 2025. I can,t believe my luck 🤪
Wow! That is some good fortune. There was one year I randomly picked up a pistachio/sea foamy color and wouldn't you know it was basically the same as that year's color? Kismet since I rarely do anything "minty."
There's on a handful on Ravelry. Sometimes it's called Wiggly crochet. I first saw it a number of years ago in Crochet World magazine. I only found one pattern booklet on Amazon - with the Star Spangled one I made, and maybe 5 other patterns. I have to dig it up though.
If you are interested in making pants, or really any garment. Crochet is the act of making fibre into cloth. So, if you find a sewing pattern and sew up a mock-up in a style that you love, rip it up and crochet the sections in the shape of the pattern sections, then sew them together. (You still might need a lining for the pants anyway, so this is not a wasted step.) Yes, it's a lot of frogging and work, but at least you know that they fit your body exactly. Or use a pattern like the picture, but don't use crazy colours. Try for a foe jean look in a lace weight underhand cast. Smaller gauge yarns/hook size when made together up look more like detailed woven fabric. If you use only the front loop or a foe knit stitch (Place your hook between the 'v'; this is also sometimes called a Taylor stitch.), especially in a single crochet, there are fewer gaps between stitches. I also wouldn't use a hook larger than a 2.5 to read more like textured jeans instead of clatty crochet pants. One other thing- garments are generally read as clothing instead of clunky crafting when you use front-facing stitches instead of the turn style. Try crocheting ambidexterity. It has a unique grain pattern that is unattainable by single-handed crochet and is one of the more unconventional front-facing fabrics achieved in crochet. It will add a bit of challenge and detailed interest without looking like 'those crochet pants'. Good luck!
I actually had that thought if I get motivated enough. I already have soooo many WIPs I want to finish up first though. Thanks for all the advice and things I may not have considered when I do decide to give pants a whirl...
I am hoping wool becomes more popular and accessible and that more people realize that acrylic yarn is just colourful plastic. I have been able to find a local yarn company that sells wool skein for $7 at my local great Canadian dollar store
We know it's colorful plastic. It's what's affordable or practical for some people with allergies. I do hope more affordable options become available - Lion Bran has Wool Ease and other wool yarns but I wanted to itch my skin off trying to use it.
Do you know what I think about temp blankets which would be less pressure … a do what you like blanket .. so work on it whenever you want , whatever yarn you like … basically an emotional support blanket would be good 😂
@ probably but don’t have the “label” or “trend” … i won’t do a temp blanket because it just feels like a lot of pressure/something I have to do and some people work really well with a routine but a proper temp blanket to me would be something I felt like doing whilst doing in the mood without the routine - a mood ring blanket so to speak ❤️ I felt like doing this granny square or using this colour so I did it x
I thought about doing one for my son's birth year which is 2011. So I would look it all up. But I thought it could be a high school graduation present so I got like 5 years. 😂
My 2025 goals is to finish all my WIPs. 5 clothing projects. 2 crochet projects. 3-4 quilt projects. At least that is what I remember I probably have more.
I had considered doing a 40-year temperature blanket, as a gift for my daughter on her 40th birthday, made from 40 narrow striped panels. The only way it will be possible is if I do it on my flatbed knitting machine. But I still have a few more years before I have to do that. For 2025, I already have my projects planned out. - Finish my medium heather gray double breasted winter coat. [my own design] partially inspired by this one: ruclips.net/video/79AJSmCOtfw/видео.html - A black bag to go with the coat. [my own design] (will match the black band on the wide brimmed gray "garden mafia" hat I already made to go with the coat [also my own design]) img2.mokum.place/system/images/stage1/000/991/220-fb091a07-8b5c-46d8-9173-0e8f8d3c7cc1.jpg - Overlay mosaic blanket, diamonds in navy blue and purple variegated yarn, worked in rows. [my own design] (duplicate of a blanket I made as a gift for someone, this year, but in colors to match my living room) img2.mokum.place/system/images/stage1/001/1096/211-7ace04e9-f5da-4b3a-9857-42f9d5fb6c76.jpg - Overlay mosaic blanket, triangles in medium country blue and light blue variegated yarn, worked in rounds. [my own design] (exact duplicate of a blanket I made as a gift for someone, this year, but larger, for my bed) img2.mokum.place/system/images/stage1/001/1096/212-63cc8e6c-38f1-4650-84d9-e559fc3b6827.jpg - Wicked Witch of the East ruby slipper socks (Bag-o-Day design] (for my daughter) ruclips.net/video/yB0O2aaCOow/видео.html - A gingerbread house themed blanket [my own design] - A lightweight, breezy black cotton lace vest, with big pockets [my own design] - Lots of realistic looking house plants and flower bouquets, mostly from stuff found on this list: ruclips.net/p/PLtBnX2J8r7vx6P49GL_yiPvrQtwjDGFxq - Something green, for my sister - Fall leaves hexagon cardigan [my own design] for my daughter - And finally, ending the year with a large, round scrap afghan of many colors, to replace the one I made many years ago, for my dad. (he loved it to pieces, literally) Just single crochet, back loop only, all the leftover yarn I have.
My plans for the year will actually come out in a little over an hour and I thought I was being ambitious! Such wonderful ideas - I still haven't tackled mosaic or brioche so I'll likely tackle one of those this year if not both. I also have bouquets as a want to make especially for Mother's Day but I totally forgot to put it in today's video. I hope to add some fiber houseplants to mine but it may not happen this year. Thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas and the pattern inspirations!

I am allergic to any wool
@mishellegarrett9243 I'm allergic to certain types so I get it.
@@mishellegarrett9243I’m allergic to wool too. I did fine with Alpaca though

Holly, I love that mocha mousse color!! I never heard of wiggle crochet or Bavarian crochet… both look beautiful 😊
Isn't it just so yummy!
Glad you found some new tempta... I mean ideas. New ideas. Lol
I've never heard of wiggle crochet! That looks so interesting. I definitely will look into that. Rugs are very in lately

I love crochet
Just found your channel. Great content!
Aw thank you - I can't wait to hang out more!
Thanks for an interesting video.
Thanks for watching! It'll be fun to see what actually happens.

That's a neat idea - and 5 years is plenty of time, right? That's what we tell ourselves???
@StitchesGonnaStitch right. Then I get it all done the month before he graduates. 😆
I went to look saw a cable sweat pant
I haven't looked yet, mainly because I need to finish projects before I get any ideas
My 2025 goals is to finish all my WIPs.

I didn't count mine yet but I do want to get as many completed as possible.
Always have been interested in learning Bavarian crochet.
I genuinely had only just seen the Annie's Attic kit ad maybe a month ago and I immediately went and saved some Bavarian crochet patterns.
In the vintage community the 1940s and 1950s styles are pretty popular.
Oooh that would also be incredible to see make its way to the yarnies!
I was with you up until yarn bombing. I love the look of it but only on nonliving things, not plants/trees/etc; it's bad for them.
That's a fair point. It was always fun to see bike racks with pizazz though!
