I was at WDW for a week just days before Hurricane Katrina hit. It was wild! The first few days were perfect and then we noticed the storm coming in. Our last few days were still okay, until all of the clouds came in and at times we’d have to hunker down under que awnings, and we’d witness lightning strikes hit ground right in front of us while we waited to get on rides and such. Within the next few days the storm got worse, and they finally called each of our hotel rooms, and told us that all of the parks were officially closed, and if we wanted to go to the cafeteria we could; there would be games, music, movies and characters. We were not allowed to wander the property or even try to leave, if we had our own vehicle(we didn’t). We chose to stay in our room, and hearing the early stages of the storm hit was amazing and scary, it was quite strong! The walls would rumble and the windows and doors would rattle. The next day it was clear, we made our way out, got to the airport and went home. Three days later Hurricane Katrina hit!!!! It’s an experience i will never forget.

Best time to go to WDW is on a rainy/cloudy day because not many people show up thinking it’s rides are closed. They don’t realize that most rides are inside buildings.

The one and only time I’ve ever been to Animal Kingdom we got hit with an absolutely torrential downpour from about 4 pm in the afternoon. I was there alone and kind of disappointed that the Avatar river ride had been down all day, so I went and gave my sob story to a kind CM at the ticket office and they did some “Disney magic“ and gave me a park hopper ticket to go over to Hollywood Studios for the last three hours of my day! It absolutely made my trip, because I wasn’t going to be able to afford to go to DHS as well, so I finally got to ride Tower Of Terror a few times before heading back to the UK. Amazing customer service!

I wa in America in New Orleans category 3. It was sad to see the streets flood , our taxi was swamped ,peop,e trying to get inside as the taxi started to float towards the Mississippi River, the stores were flooded and a truck got I to a accident and the driver was ejected from the vehicle. . There children on the school's roof due to the floods. It was chaos. We got one of the last planes before they closed the airport. I hope you both are safe. I made the best out of a bad situation my partner she just let it ruin the whole experience for her
I’m watching from NC who could get the US landfall. We were suppose to be at Disney this week, but when we canceled the storm was coming right at Disney. Now I’m in the path.

Excellent reporting Justin & Allie! A tip for Allie - those heat rashes stink, buy long loose coverups, like for over a suit at the beach. The rash is caused from the reflection of the sun off the pavement.

Being on Everest when its raining is the most epic thing! I remember going on the ride at night right when the sky opened up and started pouring. It only hurts if you open your eyes.
