Neighbor of ours has a similar problem with the rocks.. what he did was track down an old rock crusher and started up a small quarry.. you would never buy road crush for your property again and definitely have some to sell. It would also give you the opportunity to film the operation of a whole new range of equipment for your channel.

Apocalypse Brock!! I thought you were in Vietnam today! Looks like a battle!!!
Personally, I think you’ll see the results of the burn in 6+ months. Maybe not. I’m sure you’ll let us know!!
Crazy to see that. Great video!! Cracks me up seeing you try to identify trees. I suck at it, but I’m trying to get better!!! I think all those rocks on your hill were a part of a castle, Rockhill Kingdom, but it fell over, and you need to build the castle back together for the grandkids!!! Keep renovating that part of the property! It’ll be worth it… and the fight will be fun! Best, - J.Andre. / Old Iron Acres

I used a stihl kombi with a Kurt saw blade on the brush cutter head, the pole pruner, and hand held hs81r hedge trimmers to cut a lot manually. My property is full of poison ivy though, which I found out the hard way. Even where it was just old open pasture, it was growing everywhere. Eventually rented a track skidsteer with a brush cutter to tackle the rest. But, no rocks like yours.

Great video. Brock, it's definitely a good idea to do control burns. If you do goats, you need really, really, really good fences, but the goats will clear most of that stuff up. Cows would help as well. If you could find an old stone crusher, you would never have to buy gravel every again you have endless supply rock 😃

I have a similar problem. I just bought a property that is about 20 acres of pasture that hasn't been cut in two years and is severely overgrown and another 20 acres of trees and brush. I wanted to burn it but it is too green now and I'm worried about containing the fire when it dries out. I think my best option now is to invest in some good fencing and put goats and maybe pigs on it.

Happy Easter Brock! Yeah... you already said it. You were about 2 months late on the burn. Back in the day, when I was still a firefighter, I don't know that we would even have tried. "If its brown, it burns down - if it is green it stays clean" lol. It is a delicate balance - dry enough to burn but not so dry it gets away from you. Several times people burning brush or such had it jump into a bean field or corn field stubble and woosh! There it went lol. Sorry things didn't go as planned. Well done and thanks for sharing 🤠

Good morning Brock. Happy Easter to you and your whole family. The only thing that I can come up with to clean that area up is a dozer with metal tracks. Just pile the rocks and brush up into a couple of piles and do something with them at your leisure. I know that there will still be rocks but maybe you'll be able to raise the mower up high enough to at least keep the brush under control. Just an idea. God bless and have a wonderful Easter. 👍👍🙂🐰

It'll take a couple of years of winter burns to take care of some of that stuff. Lots of those vines will stay green all winter long (and be very tough to burn) and of course the roots stay after a burn and they will sprout again. Stick with it and the vines eventually will use up the reserves in their roots and it'll turn open up nicely or maybe into a glade.

The correct choice here is manual labor to selectively cut and spot spray. It will take time. Work on it in short bursts as you have the energy. That's how you eat an elephant.

Brock, have you researched how all those rocks got there? I see a lot of farmland around you. Is it possible that when they cleared the land 100 years ago that they deposited all the rocks there on the hill and that maybe they are just laying mostly on top of the ground? You can probably collect them fairly easily and move them. Love the channel and the information you provide. 😊

One kind of fire that concerns me is the kind that gets under ground, burning unseen in the roots of the trees for days or weeks, and which then pops up to start an unsupervised fire which threatens things you didn't want burned in the first place. Another is the kind that moves as embers through the air, at dozens of miles per hour, spreading far and wide.
Those are the kind of fire out here in Oregon that burn thousands of acres in the mountains, and burns whole towns to the ground. They're more common in August than they are in March.

Not to say "drive it like a rental" type scenario, but I'd suggest renting whatever track equipment you take up there in those rocks. That's brutal on tracks. That being said. Renting a mini excavator for a week and a dump trailer to pick the top rocks out and some brush control seems like a good solution. Then you can bring your skid steer in without much worry about the tracks.

I just not sure what your landscape rock market there is . I would enjoy that many rocks with an excavator. So many options .

That’s about a typical first year burn. Yes you are about a month later than you should have been but you did clean up the ground level and can see where you have issues. Now you can get in there and clean up the briers. Next years burn will have much better results. I’ve found about 3 years worth of cleaning burns before you get what you’re expecting from the burn off

@@RockhillfarmYT that moji was supposed to be the word Off. It’s a wildland fire term, when you have a fire burn through but it is not going to be an efficient burn it’s a dirty burn. The fire weather and conditions were not right. The firefighters should have called it off. Now you are left with a burn that isn’t complete and will be hard to reburn due to lack of fuel.
