- The United States was not aware of or involved in the killing of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Iran, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Wednesday (Jul 31) in an exclusive interview with CNA's Teresa Tang in Singapore.
Blinken is visiting Singapore as part of a tour of Asia that also includes Laos, the Philippines, Vietnam, Japan and Mongolia.
In the interview, he spoke on the impact of Haniyeh's killing, the United States' ties with Asia, as well as his message to the next president of the United States regarding Asia. Read: cna.asia/3A5Vlr2

Singapore must stay as far away from Blinken as possible. Today (1 Aug 2024), the Sraits Times' front page carries a report of Singapore and the US signing a nuclear cooperation agreement. Singapore may say the agreement would enable the transfer of nuclear technology from the US to Singapore, but what's in it for the US? Forcing Singapore, like it forced Austrslia, to buy nuclear submarines?
And is Singapore going to build a nuclear power plant without the people's consent? Singapore is too small to afford a nuclear accident. We are in for trouble.
