- Proper treadmill running form is important for a number of reasons, including:
Reduces your risk of injuries. When you run with proper form, you're less likely to put stress on your joints and muscles, which can lead to injuries.
Improves your running performance. When you run with proper form, you're able to run more efficiently and comfortably. This means you can run faster and for longer periods of time.
Makes running more enjoyable. When you run with proper form, you're less likely to feel pain or fatigue. This means you're more likely to stick with your running routine and enjoy your workouts.
Here are some of the specific benefits of proper treadmill running form:
Reduces knee pain. When you land with your midfoot or forefoot, you're less likely to put stress on your knees. This is because your foot absorbs less impact when you land with your forefoot.
Improves posture. Good running form helps to improve your posture by engaging your core and upper body. This can help to prevent back pain and other postural problems.
Increases efficiency. When you run with good form, you're able to run more efficiently. This means you're able to run faster and for longer periods of time without getting tired.
If you're looking to improve your treadmill running form, there are a few things you can do:
Start by warming up. This will help to loosen up your muscles and prepare them for running.
Focus on your posture. Keep your back straight and your core engaged.
Land with your midfoot or forefoot. Avoid landing on your heels, as this can put stress on your knees.
Swing your arms naturally. Don't lock your elbows or swing your arms too forcefully.
Keep your head up and your eyes looking forward. Don't look down at the ground or at your feet.
Run at a comfortable pace. Don't try to go too fast too soon, as this can lead to injuries.
With a little practice, you can develop good treadmill running form and enjoy a safe and healthy workout.

I've actually been running on a treadmill lately so I actually needed to hear this my current time for a mile is just under ten minutes I know not amazing or anything but I'm still happy that I'm improveing thank you!
My current time for a mile is probably 5mins for a quarter, stop bend over hack a lung out, another 6 for the next quarter, stop bend over and ask why I’m doing this. Then another 15 for the last half mile while puking on my feet making it slippery and more challenging.
So I’d say you’re doing just fine sir🫡
Amiga é incrível ❤
Я обрел американского друга).. Смотрю, интересно и красиво
Proud of your improvement 🤍
I find that very good! I am 45 in good shape but no endurance. I cant go10 min. So be proud of yourself😊
I feel like step one is being able to run long enough to do any of these.
All will take practice and time.. it needs to be done gradually
ez
I don't quite understand what knee drive is except for the height of the heels behind you, but it's cool to see that once you adjust it you actually catch up on the treadmill and get closer to the front. Proves it's efficiency
Hi! You may never see this comment but I would like to thank you nevertheless!
I am from a small state in the northeast part of India and we are known for our mongoloid features. ( PS- we are often misled as a foreigner in our own country)
I am from a typical Asian household where we have to sacrifice everything for academic excellence. But here I am, running only at the age of 25 years old and it has stuck to my lifestyle for fours years . I started out late, but I enjoyed it! Your tactics, advices and suggestions have been the sole guide for me in my “running” and make my whole experience a lot more worthwhile. I always take notes of all your tips and suggestions and it has helped me a great deal everyday, where I escape from the shenanigans of the world and focus on myself and myself only. Thank you ❤
Fascinating to learn late in life that running is so much about technique …Thanks, Chari!
Thats one hell of a physique
Yes, she is a professional athlete :)
@@LL-wu5ui lol I'm aware of that.
I’m converting to barefoot / forefoot running and Chari has such great info on how to strike the ground, training, physique/posture … thank you so much for sharing x
The awesome thing about form tips is that running has really grown due to more people progressing in their routines and not being incapacitated with overuse injuries. Running is arguably the most applicable and conditioning style of cardio, and it’s a shame that a lot of people give up on it or don’t even start because they’ve heard from others about how infeasible running is.
As long as you don’t have mileage for 24/7 marathon training and just run to run or race, good form with running can be done from youth all the way to senior age. Look at Joan Benoit from the 1984 olympics still putting in hella miles.
I spent last year going from dry heaving PPL split gym bro to a comfortably hybrid physique person, and I credit Chari for her tips. This year imma do a full marathon so I’ve laid out a 30 week slow ass training period and seeing where it takes me.
Yes! Much, much gratitude for this one, Coach!!
Absolutely 👌
What does the knee drive mean? I’ve been watching her videos and I’m so motivated to run!
How high your knee coming up when your going into your stride.
As her heels stay low when she is running there is more of a pushing forward motion with her knees..
Pushing the ground (using her calves, glutes, and quads) more than pulling it (with her hamstrings).
Her knees are the first thing that goes forward, not feet
Thank you your explanation! 👍❤️From Hungary
❤❤❤nice presentation&words proper steps, definitely give improving result in performance.
Many thanks for your Incredibly awesome video. Best wishes for your youtuber and athletic career.❤❤❤❤❤.

Someone could translate to portuguese, please?
Thanks. Can you go into the knee drive a little more. I can see how the heals don’t go quite as high but what is the thought or action of the knee?
Thank you!!!!!!! 💛💛💛 I live in Minnesota where it’s icy for so much of the year… my running always suffers over the winter because I only have access to a treadmill-I super needed these tips!

Tips on walking to help my Mom, please, thanks so much!
I see that you also strike the ground from the outside middle part of your foot, i thought doing this was wrong and was trying to change it, nice to see it is not a big deal.
You are making me start to love running ...i did a lite before now IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII LOOOOOVVVVEEEE IIIIITTTTT
The knee drive tip is so important, especially on a treadmill where the belt moves your feet for you
this is very helpful
Love your content. Recently got back into running and want to really train for distance this time. Finding myself coming down hard on the knees and just focusing on trying to ease into that a little more. Finding a lot of little corrections to think about when running. Army just said go, but who knew there was a proper way to run 😂
Ty 4 tips really been helping with my "running". I thought I was running before but now I think it was just some abomination of an exercising that I was doing which was much more damaging to my body than healing/improving it.
I need help! I don’t understand knee drive and cant see the difference. 🥺
What do you mean by knee drive?
What is knee drive? I don’t understand what you mean by that. 😢
❤
Hi, sprinting and distance running use slightly different running techniques - are these advices mainly for sprinters or for distance runners? Thanks.
Thanks master. Actually i follow ure tips 3veryday😂
i don’t get what knee drive means?
Same
Same
Agreed
Knee drive is when you make effort to lift knees and drive feet forward, rather than strike ground under your body to spring forward. Check her hips when feet touch down.
Could watch all day
What's knee drive?
Hell yea looks clean, but your left foot looks weird as you plant. You need wider shoes? Or is that normal?
Need to remember this
I think the arm angle for most pro runners including Chari is closer to 45 degrees - definitely not 90. Kipchoge is the same.
멋지다.!!
your foot strike is perfect neutral and slightly on the lateral side and then flat on the belt. looking at the shoes you can see what I mean.
Jumping must be strong and high to underneath the body
run on my toes. never tried a tread mill. shes not past 35 dude. wait for it
I've gotta google "knee drive" - never heard this term before!
I used treadmills to located my speed
What treadmill Model do you use? , for Hobby runner thankx
Oh great job on the pentathlon
Perfection in motion.
I was going to say poetry but perfection works
You do improve knees drive ?
Super mem

It's like the "no knee drive" also gives you a longer stride?
러닝 연습하는데 자주 보는 채널
i know what you're saying but i cant correct it without someone with me correcting whta i am doing wrong. I need someone to give me instruction. "Longer, shorter, etc etc" so i can adjust what i am doing wrong else i stay in an unsure place.
Which on cloud shoes style are you wearing?
What does she mean by arms pound on the drum?
Sweetheart supinating your left ankle on the strike who is your right ankle is much more stable learning on the outside of the left foot
What’s the speed in the first two-four seconds of the video?
My gym trainers discourage running on treadmill as it may hurt knees, is it true or for increasing the life of treadmill.
I've never heard of treadmills hurting knees. I know improper form is what causes injuries... maybe he used to seeing people running with improper form?
❤I love you ❤
Please tell me how to stride
