  • It is easy to perform a 3D CFD analysis of a rear wing spoiler using Stallion 3D. Here are a few of the steps:
    1. Use the built-in wing geometry editor to enter the width and length of the spoiler.
    2. Choose airfoil shapes from the built in airfoil library. The library includes custom shapes, NACA airfoils and the UIUC airfoil database.
    3. Set the flow parameters such as the flow speed and angle of attack.
    4. Setup the CFD solution. Set the simulation size and solver. In this case we choose the RANS solver.
    5. Look at the results. We calculate the down force and drag at various speeds.
The entire process took less than 2 hours on a entry level laptop.
