Can I just say something here. I'm an Elvis fan for decades and I've seen people's atitude towards him, his music and his legacy in all kinds of shades. From a laughable joke to a racist. From just a flat image to indepth knowlegde of what he really was and what his impact has been on popular western culture. What frustrated me the most was that some people blamed him for stealing black men's music. Because I knew that was the most far from the truth as anything. Elvis wás music. This young strange kid from the fifties who was so much ahead of his time and who opened up the doors for all of them who came after him didn't steal anything. He loved music. Any music. He knew it all. Gospel, Rythm 'n blues, Country. And in this restless kid this was all mixed into a delight blend of a total new sound, feel and look that is felt even to this day. He was not a racist. He was a melting pot in wich all of it came together. Black and white. To see you, Mister Jamal regognize this very fact and acknowledge the giant force Elvis was is heart warming to see. Finally Elvis is done justice. Thank you, Thank you very much.
@Aaron Jay Yes Jamel thank you so much for ur reaction to this and really making people see and feel just how wonderful Elvis was. What a loss, what a LOSS !God love him and God bless you Jamel !
It really was a tragedy. He was only 42, and that's such an incredibly young age to die. He should have had decades more time on this earth to create and share his music with the world. But thankfully he left a legacy that will never die thanks to folks like yourself who are helping to keep his music alive while introducing him to new fans at the same time. For that I thank you!!
If I may add, this performance, in this setting, was Elvis at his everyday best! He would routinely get friends and/or band mates/back-up singers together for hours after concerts to just sing together. They say gospel was his favorite to sing. The man sang so much, but among the many health problems he developed over time, his voice failing him never happened. In fact, his voice only got more rich, deep and powerful as time went on.
RGee 805 Absolutely Correct! E Loved Gospel Music! I knew his bass singer JD Sumner,. He told me after shows E would be wound up & would call him & Jake Hess,. The Blackwood Bro., whoever was in town to come over & they’d get around his piano & sing until the Wee hours! Haha! 😂. Elvis was a night owl! Ha! Well, insomnia too, but I think somewhat of a night owl!
Regardless of this man's personal demons he had an inner beauty and kindness that showed through. Possibly the reason he was so incredible to look at. He was somehow lit from within and people were drawn to that light. Always entertaining to watch..he was a master vocally and visually.
Yep, he had many firsts - the first to sell a million in advance, the first 'pop' star to make it big in the movies, the first to do concert via satellite etc He was a real trailblazer!
it’s hard to believe he’s not with us after watching these videos he’s definitely singing with the angels beautiful RIP beautiful Elvis never will be forgotten 💙💙👑👑👑
ELVIS AARON PRESLEY MY MY MY WHAT STYLE THIS MAN HAS AND A VOICE LIKE A ANGEL ELVIS YOU ARE THE MAN LOVE YOU ALWAYS YOU ARE MY ROCK WHEN I HEAR YOUR VOICE💛💜 LOVE YOU ELVIS💙💚
Eddy Murphy was a BIG Elvis fan and he said "That's my idol, Elvis Presley. If you went to my house, you'd see pictures all over of Elvis. He's just the greatest entertainer that ever lived. And I think it's because he had so much presence. When Elvis walked into a room, Elvis Presley was in the f--king room. I don't give a f--k who was in the room with him, Bogart, Marilyn Monroe, you saw only Elvis." .... from the book "Before Elvis there was nothing" by Patrick Higgens.
Man yeah his voice on the 68 comeback was unbelievable. Elvis Presley was so worried about coming out and playing. For me he knotted it out of the park. The king of rock and roll for ETERNITY!!!! It hits me so hard man the voice. It's just sad I was born after Elvis Presley had passed. But I did go to GRACELAND. I will never forget as long as I live.
Yes! He Always knocked it outta the park! 😂. Great comment! It’s so sad that So many people weren’t living when Elvis was,. I got to see him at his last concert June 26, 1977,. It was Awesome!
I still remember the day he died, I was only 7 but it stuck in my mind. My mom cried at the dinner table when it came on the news. She used to play his music and teach us the dances. Still love his music to this day
Elvis had a voice like no other (not to mention his drop-dead good looks). Notice he JUST sang. He didn't need to do ALL of the ridiculous runs singers do today!!!
This was like watching an “old school” jam session & not a full blown concert event but DAMNNN...... The way he & his band delivered it, you could be mistaken for thinking you were watching the great man in action in a huge arena ☝️😆👍✅✅✅
I remember as a child I heard from my neighbors Elvis Passed Away and we couldn't believe it. It sent shock waves down the block, and throughout town. Never forget it. My Mom was a huge fan and she was in tears.
It's so interesting that people remember where they were when they first heard that Elvis had died. That's how much he was ingrained in the lives of the world's population.... That hearing the announcement of his death was so shocking and so traumatic that people simply always remembered.
Feature Elvis singing "Blue Suede Shoes" on his show. (he really lets go there)Feature him singing several of his hits in the opening of the '68 Special. I am transfixed by his performance every time i watch the dvd. I become more excited each time i watch this man do his thing! He was once considered lewd and obscene because he swiveled his hips! He once said something about how he was tamed compared to what they do now. He had a God given talent and he was considered lewd and obscene. Unbelievable.
No one like him!The very few folks who can't appreciate him have no souls! His music helps us to find our souls !So glad you can't help but call him the King-- eventhough his humility made him dislike being called the king! Like it or not. He was the King of Rock and Roll! May he rest in peace !,May you continue to enjoy Elvis- music. because there is no one like you either! All your reactions are. greatly appreciate eed & all your comments which are always on target! Thanks again!
Lucky you. I waited in line for hours at the Springfield, MA auditorium to get tickets and they sold out 3 people in front of me. This was back in 1970 before bracelets, online, faxes or phone ins. I was truly heartbroken but it wasn't meant to be.
Belle Ferrar my mom was a huge fan and was in the fan club so she got Several chance to see him so I got to go twice I was only 12 then 14 and for being that young I Rembrandt it like it was yesterday
Another one of my all time favorites! Really anything from the ‘68 comeback special is a favorite 😂 I feel like Elvis invented charisma, at the least he defined it 💗
This was Elvis Presley's returned from not performing after Oliver 10 years. He was excommunicated because the creature spell that he was vulgar in his movement. He went off to Hollywood, but miss live performance, so once his contract was over this performance was his introductory back to the public. Also, it was the first unplugged performance.
Elvis had really tired of the Hollywood scene, and he missed the connection to a live audience. So, this performance, in particular, was especially exciting for him. He was back in his element, really, for the first time since before his military service.
"Lord, I swear, my God, what you been doin' to me..." sung by, Elvis. I saw him in person twice. First time, I was 12 years old, around 1970-71. The second time I saw him I was 16 years old. ...and was only six rows back. I could feel his words go right through the speakers and into my soul.
Jamal I enjoy your reaction to Elvis. One more from the 1968 come back special is when Elvis is standing up and goes into an impromptu guitar session by himself on stage and then sings Baby what do you want me to do. Key is the standup version of this song and not the sit down version.
Good night. Friend, you are a very charismatic person too. I feel great energy and excitement in your reactions, I find it fun and beautiful. God bless you greatly. Hugs from Brazil.
When i met his childhood friend George Klein, at the Tribeca Car Club in New York of June 2007- I couldn't believe I was talking with someone who knew Elvis. I don't know if it was my imagination or what, but I felt as if Elvis was right there.(I kept looking to the left of George Klein) Elvis put George and many of his friends in his movies. Keep it up Jamal, the younger crowd needs to see and hear one of the greatest voices in the history of songs and music. An eagle amongst birds he was.
Nicole, Elvis was a master of many kinds of music. He was initially known for his Rockabilly/Rock N' Roll, but his versatility encompassed a lot more ground than that.
Nicole, Elvis also did Gospel, R&B/Soul, Latin-flavored, Semi-Operatic, and Pop. Elvis could even yodel. He didn't do Jazz, but he covered the gamut. He even did portions of songs in various languages : Spanish, Italian (I think), German, Yiddish, Hawaiian and Chinese.
Elvis gave 1,684 Concerts and over 6,000 Live Performances during his career as a Entertainer Super Star, a astonishing and amazing achievement not surpassed by anyone ! And over 2.5 Billion Records sold Worldwide ! The Highest Selling Single Artist in the History of Recorded Music ! AND the Only Entertainer in the World that is a member of 4 Music Halls of Fame ! Rock 'n Roll, Country, R & B , and Gospel ! That's Why Elvis is the KING of Music !!!
Dude Elvis is the man. My pops knew him through Charlie Hodge they were great friends . Next song should be "What Now My Love". He always loved that one. Great high notes
Caleb, I too am a Chally (as Elvis called) fan. He was instrumental in the life of Elvis. He and Red were the only musically inclined members of the Memphis Mafia. He was the de facto stage manager for Elvis. I've watched a lot of Charlie Hodge videos, especially ones after the death of Elvis. Is your dad still around?
@@timcarr6401 my grandfather was next door neighbors to Charlie in Decatur Alabama, and he let him come to graceland many times between 69 and 73. My pop loved Elvis and Elvis loved my Pop
Tony Brown played with Elvis became a very successful record producer and was president of MCA Nashville. He said they were playing a college campus and a group of college kids stood up with a sign that said Elvis is the King. Brown said Elvis looked at them and said “Jesus Christ is The King.” He was human and got caught up in the trappings of stardom that very very few will ever know but at his core he was a very humble kid from Mississippi. It has been said that he gave away over $700,000 worth of jewelry the last five years to mostly kids who were disabled or handicapped in some way. The number of cars/Cadillacs that he gave away to total strangers that couldn’t afford them is almost unbelievable. The checks that went to charity... He was a very giving person. He was an adult but he also had people around him that were allowing things to continue because he was their cash cow and him being clear minded took away their opportunity to bilk him out of what they wanted. Thanks for the Elvis videos and feedback.
Charlie Hodge has said that Elvis paid for a service to some elderly and disabled people in Memphis. He would have people drive them to and from stores, doctor's appointments etc. for free.
In 1961, he started a tradition of giving $100,000 every year to various charities. By the 1970s that figure had grown to $100,000 monthly to over 100 charities. That's over half a million dollars in today's money. *Monthly*. When FDR was no longer president, Elvis bought his yacht (the white House on the water) from him for $55k. Then he turned around and donated it to St Jude's Children's Hospital where they were able to auction it off and ended up making tons of money to help the kids. He paid off people's debts, he paid off people's mortgages. I could go on. I mean.... If you want to talk about the charitableness of Elvis Presley, we might need a separate RUclips channel..... 😋
Jamel, I would like to thank you for showing this for me. I enjoy ur reactions specially to Elvis, he was like no other and he even said it himself. He was a real character and he enjoyed and loved what he did. Thanks again Jamel, thanks again. Love what you do. Keep it up my brother as long as you can. God bless you and yours.
Thank you! That was by far Elvis’s best concert! He was so relaxed and had so much fun with everyone there. Imagine sitting with your hand on the stage while Elvis just did his thing. **sigh**
What a loss ! Yes but we thank everything holy because we were blessed with such a beautiful talented soul even if it was for such a short time. Great react now im off to see what's next...♡
I swear, sometimes when I hear Chris Stapleton sing, my brain goes straight to Elvis! The soul & blues in their voices are so similar. ❤️❤️❤️ Elvis, my Dad’s favorite.

Nowadays they'd day Elvis "culturally appropriated" the music. And because if that "crime" a lot more people can enjoy it - how terrible is that! LOL

Elvis was just a natural music talent. All self taught. I have everything that is out on CD or DVD. Glad to see you discovering him.
You really need to hear Peace in the Valley. Any version! #peaceandlove
On my next 4👍🏾
Jamel_AKA_Jamal Great! Can't wait!
Jamel_AKA_Jamal you need to do Jamey Johnson River Jordan too! ❤

Sticking around for more of the king music....
What Now My Love is an excellent sad love song. It's also one of the songs that showcases his incredible range. Hope he does the reaction!! 😋
@@calebcantrell4859 sounds like Elvis 👍🏻💜
Caleb Cantrell That is Very Cool! 😊👍. Thanks for sharing!
He invented the term cool, plain n simple
The king of all times...😍 👑 👑 👑
I love reaction 🤣😂 Jamel thanks
I love x 1.000.000.000.000 Elvis.
Tony Brown played with Elvis became a very successful record producer and was president of MCA Nashville. He said they were playing a college campus and a group of college kids stood up with a sign that said Elvis is the King. Brown said Elvis looked at them and said “Jesus Christ is The King.”
He was human and got caught up in the trappings of stardom that very very few will ever know but at his core he was a very humble kid from Mississippi.
Love it
My favorite song from the 68 special. One Night is my other favorite!
Thank you! That was by far Elvis’s best concert! He was so relaxed and had so much fun with everyone there. Imagine sitting with your hand on the stage while Elvis just did his thing. **sigh**
Just fun, talent cutting up and letting loose.
Please react to Suspicious Minds by Elvis!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Lawdy Lawdy! I love it thx for uploading keep more of Elvis coming 👌
You should see him end the Vegas show with I can’t help falling in love with you. Powerful.
What a loss ! Yes but we thank everything holy because we were blessed with such a beautiful talented soul even if it was for such a short time. Great react now im off to see what's next...♡
Amen 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Good Choice. As I mentioned before, try "One night With You" from the same concert.
Hell yeah....NUFFSAID!!!
The greatest of all time 👑
I swear, sometimes when I hear Chris Stapleton sing, my brain goes straight to Elvis! The soul & blues in their voices are so similar. ❤️❤️❤️ Elvis, my Dad’s favorite.
