What about if you want to come to the UK, illegal or legal you have to do 5 years National Service, paid board and lodging - thats all. Not just in the services, it could be nursing, caring, cleaning the streets, but the deal is 5 years with no spending money, HMG provides clothes etc, oh and no mobile phones.
People wonder why the N.H.S., housing, Policing and so on are in crisis mode, 745.000 immigrants arrived on our shores in 2022, and, we only built 210,000 homes ... something has `got to give`, and it will be your standard of living.
Thankfully the Home office migrant contract for that Grade 2 listed hotel has recently been cancelled. Looks a shadow of how nice it was before Covid and being used for immigrants, but hopefully it will be brought back to it's former glory (courtesy of the UK tax payer of course).
