Olaf is an 11-month-old golden retriever. He’s been terrified of escalators (or any moving objects) since he was a little puppy so every time we need to take the escalators, I carry him in my arms and we get lots of “aww”s and compliments from people and that was actually why we decided to record the moment. In this video, Olaf is almost 11 months old and weighs 67Ibs. The video was made at Porta Di Roma mall in Rome.

Dog's claws can catch in the grooved metal plates of the escalator. It can literally rip their legs off. This owner was doing the right thing!

Not really doing the right thing. Carrying anything heavy, like a large pet or child, on an escalator is dangerous, too. She should really use the elevator, but I guess that wouldn’t get her as much attention on the internet.

You shouldn't let dogs on escalators anyways. They don't know what it is and can get seriously injured near the end of it.

~ that is why she's picked him/her up !!! My dogs won't get on an escalater , they are fearful of them , but will happily wait in turn to be lifted and assisted by me . They don't struggle because they know they can't manage the situation without help .
Be wary of elevator's the claustrophobia and danger if a fire broke out . I'll take stairs

It's not recommended for pets according to various sources..carrying them is actually safe

This is probably a service animal 🦮 for someone with seizures, so they do belong
@@MC-of7ow a service dog would have had to go through intense public access training and would be able to go up escalators without hesitation. so unfortunately, unless the mall is pet friendly (which i doubt it), she’s bringing her dog in illegally

As a golden owner, I can tell you they're the biggest sissies. I'm so glad I fell in love with them. They're just a bundle of joy and nothing else.

My golden was around that size and she was about 60 pounds. They aren't that heavy unless you get a large golden and that dog wasn't one of them.

You are supposed to carry your dogs on and off the escalate. If you don't and your dogs gets hurt you can get fined.

But she's now off balance and top heavy, not using the railings, and can't see where she's stepping, not to mention wearing a dress that can get caught in the steps and pull her down. The mall would win any lawsuit she brought against them once she was injured because she chose to ignore the safety rules posted. If you need to carry something up stairs, you should use the elevator.

I’ve not found a mall where dogs are allowed. I wish there were some near by me.
By the looks of the harness he is a support animal. Many people have conditions that are not apparent. They may suffer epilepsy, migraine, diabetes. My friend is an obedience dog trainer with diabetes and she has trained her Terrier to alert when her blood sugar is high or low.
