👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 it’s heartwarming to see parenting done right. It’s very important to treat children as individuals and not carbon copies of their parents. I got tears in my eyes when I heard this statement about not pushing their expectations onto their child. This should be a PSA to all parents, new and old! Praying Sutan will continue to grow up happy & healthy! ❤️❤️❤️ (Your kimono was so beautiful Moe!)

I can think of so many parents who would shove their kids into things and force them into tantrums just to get them to take pictures the parents would enjoy. It is SO refreshing that the entire time you have been on RUclips, as long as Sutan has been old enough to make decisions, you have let her exercise that autonomy. She will grow up strong, confident, recognize when she is being respected, and she will be assured that her parents trust her and will always support her decisions. Today it was just a decision of whether she wanted to wear a kimono, and she had the freedom to change her mind at any time. Little actions like this will make big differences. She is a very lucky girl. Moe and Moto, you are phenomenal parents.

Sutan's behavior is completely understandable. She's only 2 years old, and today was her great day. The grandparents had arrived so she felt excited and knew something important was going on. That's why she didn't get enough sleep. And that's why she was nervous and had tantrums. Your attitude deserves a medal! You are wonderful parents! ❤️

  • @karmagal1796

She responded like a typical 2 year old. We, as adults, get SO excited about our children’s milestones that they get overwhelmed. But we don’t want to act like we aren’t excited for them either. All very normal first time parent stepping stones. The most important thing is you all had a long, tiring , but lovely day celebrating as a family. A beautiful family. Thank you for sharing your joy! 💝

A parent's love appears to be unconditional, and it can change people for the better. Loving your child means being patient with them. This is not the first time I've observed this celebration in Japan during my November visits, but I always forget about it until I happen to see the kids in their kimonos when visiting a shrine on that day.

That said, in a perfect universe, Sutan would have come out, from her bath, wearing her kimono because she insisted her grandparents dress her in it.
Just wanted to say that I'm an old guy who decided, last year, that he wanted to learn Japanese, Not only do I love these videos for their content, but they really help me practice listening to the language. And that is just fine with me. I want to wish Moe, Sutan and Moto a very Happy Thanksgiving. As Shichi-Go-San celebrates the health and well being of children, Thanksgiving is a day in the USA and some other countries where we take a moment and give thanks for our own health and well being and for that of all our loved ones. It's a moment to reflect on our good fortune and to remember those that can no longer be with us. To celebrate with good food and high spirits. To relax with family. ㊗

I feel your pain over the Kimono! She would be so beautiful all dressed up! I travelled 8!hours by car to Memphis Tennessee to buy a special hand made Southern Bonnet for my daughter. She absolutely refused to wear it on Easter. I tied it on our black Labrador after church… determined SOMEONE would wear it! I managed to get some pictures taken with it hanging off her back later.

The relationship between you as a family is so lovely! 💕 I admire how you both dealt with the whole situation, never pushing her to do something she didn't want. I'm sure there will soon be other occasions for Sutan to wear her beautiful kimono. May she grow happy and healthy and the bond between you grows stronger.

Lovely. When children are given choices sometimes it's up to you, her parent to advise when she has a choice and when something is necessary.

The conversation between you and Moto at the end really put everything into perspective. I know we all really wanted to see Sutan in her kimono for her shichi-go-san but she was perfect the way she was! "We can't force our expectations on her," said more than a thousand words about how great parents you two are to her. She'll look back on this time and appreciate you for letting her be herself. I love your family so much! I pray for more health and happiness in your future. 💕
