- About to go on your first day at work? Today I will give you the comprehensive guide on how to start your career as a waiter or waitress in the best way possible!

The goal is to minimize the stress, the mistakes, and the conflicts every new waiter goes through! We want you to succeed in this job, not to quit after your first week!
Tips for waiters are coming up!
Hello new waiters!
My name is Ned, and I am training young people to become great waiters for many years now all over the world!
The Online Waiter Training Course at the Waiter's Academy is free of charge, so everyone can take advantage of the free knowledge and eventually get a certificate if you pass all the tests!

I want you to know that every new waiter feels scared and excited for their first day at work. It is normal, and it is even good that you feel this way! Use the fear and the excitement as motivation to prepare yourself!
It is also good to know that no matter how well you prepare for your first day at work, you cannot avoid the stress and the problems completely!
You will still go through hard and embarrassing moments, but those moments will help you learn faster on the job, so take them as lightly as you could. It is part of the process!
Let's begin with preparing for your first day at work!
Do not wait to get to the restaurant and hit the floor to start learning everything you need to know about your new job! This is irresponsible to the company, but mostly it is bad for you because this attitude will bring you a lot of stress and suffering!
As soon as you know that you have the job, get the menu, the floor plan, and the wine list. No one will expect you to know everything perfectly but put an effort to learn the food and the wine you will serve and make sure you know the floor plan and the table numbers.
If you push yourself and learn the menu from A to Z, you will do yourself a great favor, and you will surprise everyone on your new team very pleasantly. Kind of becoming everyone's favorite from day one!
www.thewaiters...
Know your guests
Another thing you should do to prepare yourself is to learn about the people who visit the restaurant and the people who work there!
If it is a tourist place, where do most of the tourists come from? If they are Chinese, learn some habits and a few words in Chinese! This will impress your guests and your coworkers from day one! The same thing for every nationality that visits the restaurant.
Learn who is your head chef! You will deal with this guy a lot, and it is a good thing to know as much as possible! Use the restaurant website or ask some of the employees there. One thing you should know for sure: The chef loves the people who sell his/her daily specials, so try to do it from your first day!
Check the waitress job description from the Waiter's Academy here:
www.thewaiters...
Practice.
As a new waiter, you will do a lot of clearing and serving. Practice at home how to carry two, three, or four plates and how to buss tables with a lot of dirty dishes and silverware.
Usually, the new waiters have a problem carrying trays! Drink trays and food trays are part of the food and beverage service, so you should be capable of carrying them! Get a tray home and practice! If you don't have a tray, use anything that has similar dimensions and weight to practice.
The last thing you want is to drop a drink on your guest's head on your first day at work!
Learn the F&B terminology used in your restaurant!

Great vídeo! Thanks a lot! I'm Andrew from Argentina Buenos Aires. I'm 34 years. I'm already did this year the Waiter Course (online) because of the Cov-19. I've never Worked as a Waiter.

First of all , my achievment it's to find a Coffee Restaurrant Job.
Did you have a vídeo for a Coffee Waiter or something Like that ?
Like working on a Coffee Shop and carry Coffee and drinks meaby, milkshake ,sugar, you know?!
Once again, thanks A lot!
Your vídeos helps me a lot for prepared me mentally.
@@AndrewBuck86 Thanks for the kind words, Andy. I hope you will have a chance to start working as a waiter. I haven't done videos about coffee shops because I have never worked in one. It shouldn't be much more different than working in the restaurant! Best of luck in the future and stay safe!

And because of your videos I recently earned myself a job at Marriot! Sending you virtual hugs & appreciations.
I watch his videos every time I land a new job haha
Congratulations for the new job, Joseph! It is all your doing, not mine! You have done the learning and put the effort and the time to get better! Now I wish you best of luck! Marriot is a great company!
😆😅🙂
Hi Joseph 🖐️
Wow. Congratulations.
I’ve been binge-watching your videos, because I somehow landed a fine dining job for my first time as a waiter (I’ve previously been working as a server assistant/busser). My first day is tomorrow, and I’ve been so nervous due to my lack of experience. Your videos have helped me feel more prepared to make a good first impression.
So how did it go, BAD? I hope you are doing great and making some good money!
Hey man, how did it go?
Did you get it, if so how was it?
how was it??
i just got a job at a steakhouse and this helped out a lot.. i’m always so hard on myself for not knowing every single thing by my first day.. it’s okay for mistakes to happen tho i just can’t let them discourage me!
Congrats on the job, Isabella! It is good that you want to be perfect but we all make mistakes and we have to accept that! Don't be hard on yourself. Appologize, tell yourself that the next time you will do better and move on! It takes not only learning but also experience and routine to minimize mistakes! Best of luck!
Yesterday watched this video, learned the menu and remembered your tips for waitressing. Today I had my trial shift and got the job, because I was prepared for it thanks to you! You really helped me, thank you! 🌞
Great job, Janis! Congrats! Best of luck in the future!
So much of this advice is literally "prepare yourself (training), proactively learn at every opportunity (initiative), & consistently do your job to the best of your ability (discipline)."
You're like the Jocko Willink of of waiters. Love it.
Well said, Wolf! Thanks
You are a genius.best teacher ever , it is evident that you have 30 years experience in F&B .keep it up man
Starting my new job as a waitress at Golden fork hotel today.
All the best to me.
I've learnt alot from you.
Thank you soo much.
Hey how is the job so far?
Awesome stuff, I feel a lot more comfortable working as front of house/waitress tomorrow!
Loved this video, super informative and engaging :)
Thanks, Ella! Good luck! I hope you are doing great!
I'm actually going on a rough stage of my life, this job is my first step of going forward
I hope it goes well thanks for your effort
just finished my 2nd shift as a waiter and its looking good, ill continue to learn through this channel
Best of luck, Michael! If the first two days went good, the future is bright for you!
Thank you, I am starting a new job today at our local bar and grill. My background is in offices so wow here I go serving tables at 59 yrs old. I can do this, studying the menu is important so I was doing that all last night and I will today before work. Be Prepared 💪❤️🙏🏻
Best of luck, Kathy! How is it going?
@@TheWaitersAcademy Hi, so far so good…the handheld POS system is complicated but workable. I went in on my day off for an hour studying the menu and the POS system together, boss lady liked that I was trying. On my fourth day I had a table of 16 so I’m glad I put in that time which helped time on the POS. I will be working again on Friday for day 8. At home I am visualizing myself going through the steps in my head so I get that down and also I’m practicing with a tray and water bottles and my own glasses so I learned the balance of the tray. Boss lady said they don’t use trays a lot mostly to bus tables or carry drinks mostly. I don’t like the fact there is a lot of food that looks alike especially the wings. I guess that will be some thing I have to get to know. I talked to the chef who is of the Mexican descent and he said that his favorite thing to cook is French cuisine 😆. He’s very understanding and so hopefully if I were to make a mistake he won’t yell at me lol 🤗 I learned that I have to tip out the bartender at the end of my shift but I don’t know what percentage to use can you help me with that please? Thank you very much 👍
@@kathyblum3218 that's amazing!! Much respect for you!! I've always wanted to try a job of being a server!! Just seems so scary with all the professionalism that goes with it

Wow. That's why I lost my job at Clarion hotel. I have never done the banquet server job before and my manager did not have the patience. Everyone was complaining that I don't know what I was doing. I'll just keep 👀 watching your videos to learn. I went through everything you talked about. My co workers got me fired. It's not an easy job. Always on my feet. It's too exhausting. Now I am ready to get another job. I'll keep applying for job while taking lessons from your videos. Thank you so much.
Best of luck, Jewel!
Thank you so much!! Your advices are really helpful, I’ve never worked as a waiter before but today I got a callback from an Italian restaurant and I’m super nervous since it’ll be my first time working as a server. This has been so useful thank you so much, it's my first time working as a waiter and I completely blew it on my first day of training I had forgotten some things from my search and blanderd when I was asked, tomorrow will be my second day of training and I'm doing as much research and possible, I've been memorizing the menu the entire day [it's a really big menu] and I plan on continuing to do as much research as possible every free time I have
Watching your your videos are very informative bussing tables. And also being a waitress and how to take customers orders the right way.

I am beyond freaking out. I am a second year college student and today I was given the menu to learn. My trial day is two days from now. I am feeling so much anxiety but i have not stopped learning the menu. I'm struggling to figure out what really is important to learn from the menu. I do know that drinks are served first so tomorrow i will dedicate the whole day to covering the beverage section of the menu because I've dedicated today to learning more about the meals without drinks. PRAY FOR ME IM LOSING IT!
Hey Londeka, how did everything go? I hope you are just fine and enjoying the ride!
Hey, I’m curious how did it go for you? I hope you’re doing more than well!
I will be joining you next week as a waiter but I have no previous experience. I love watching your video again. I am inspired.😊😊😊😊✨🦋❤️..thanks bro,sir

Good job mate,im from indonesia , working here is like a competition a thousand waiter searcing a job,if we not get a much effort we will lefted 👍
Thanks Prince. Yes it is true! There are countries where the competition is tough and the more knowledge you have the better chance you have to get a job! It really a pleasure to me to meet this video as it left 3 to 4 days to start a new job as waitress which I have never done before.all I have to say is thanks very much for the clear guides and explanations.
I have only one problems which o don't know how to controls its,am smart, fast learner, quick to read body language of different people in respect of theirs background but the problems I have is that,I can't allow someone to takes advantage over me for a second not to respond to the individual even if it's my boss.
Hi Kamara, congrats on the new job. The problem you talk about is very common among young people! I had it myself as a young man. I guess, you have to burn yourself a few time to learn but the sooner you learn to control your emotions and your anger, the better! Good luck

Shyness has been the biggest challenge for me
This is the perfect job to cure shiness! Keep pushing!
I’m a very shy person and when I was first started looking for my first ever job, this industry wasn’t among my possible options you know? In fact I was looking for jobs that kept me from having to socialize too much with other people (like office jobs, jobs online, etc)
I ended up having my first job as a waitress and the first 7 months I can say I hated the job, I felt I wasn’t made for it, I couldn’t even explain our daily menu to a customer without making errors out of my anxiety.
It took my 8-9 months to start building confidence, having constant compliments on my performance also helped a lot, but my point is in my case I had to be almost forced into it to overcome my anxiety and shyness. But that took me to work for 5 star hotels and I’m still working in this industry, I don’t regret the hospitality industry. ❤
