That was a great read I liked it a lot when I read it. It was an interesting take and I loved the French references and the more detailed background on the characters and not just belle and beast.
In most fairytales, fairies were not in the story just to grant wishes or give a happy ending ; they put the heroes trough tests, got revenge on the villains and sometimes even punished the heroes for failing, sometimes in the most exagerated ways. When you read the old tales, they appear to be morally grey, like an arbitrary obstacle and/or a deus ex-machina. Disney usually gives their character a fairly simple leaning towards good or evil, even when they try to give us a somewhat compassionate villain, they never leave a character's true morality up for debate - like the Witch in the Little Mermaid, they made Ursula a villain, but when you read the tale, she's just an old sea folk living out of society and making deals with people who come to her against payment, she has no interest in the characters' adventures. I always loved the Enchantress because it was the only Disney character that never was established as a heroe or a villain, even her face looks completely neutral (in the stain-glass version anyway). To me she represents the arbitrary nature of life's events, she comes unexpectedly and strikes unfairly, but the hardship that the Beast has to go through makes him a better person in the end ; I think she carries a good and interesting moral, that bad things can happen to you for no reason, but learning from them can make your life better in the end.
I really like your point about the enchanteess, I always looked at it personally as a lesson that you should look beyond appearance. As a positively character and punishing the beast because 'at the point in time' he was bad. I was young while watching so i never noticed the unnecessary cruel nature of her 'punishment'. Beauty and the beast just has so much to offer
Honestly I really hate all the live action remakes they've been doin these last years... But yeah, this one really's got me excited as well :p can't wait !
Lou Depp i always get excited for live actions even when they make me cringe. . . all in all the new trailer for beautynbeast looks amazingly promising so far inmyopin
She isn't a queen, she is only the daughter of powerful mischievous witches. Maleficent's adoptive mother was a powerful fairy in fairyland, her sister was the great fairy godmother seen on Cinderella who saw maleficent as evil because of her appearance. She was also the ruler of fairylands.
@@adrianonoble3387 The Disney Villain books. They all state the past of every villain and how they became what they were. The enchantress is named circe, circle was actually in a relationship with the beast before he was a beast ofc, but she wanted to test his love for her. So she went up to him looking like a hag and he rejected and told her the worst things possible. She saw the truth in his eyes cause he only liked her because of her beauty. Hence she cursed him. The witches also intervened in many of the events in the story such as sending the wolves to attack Belle cause they knew she would break the curse. But they never expected the beast to save her. Circle actually felt a bit bad of what she had done. She even regretted her decisions.
I think the witch from Brave might be the same fairy god mother. She took on the form of a small old woman in a green cloak like dress. She had enchanted items and turned people into "beasts" using her magic in hopes of teaching them a powerful lesson. Those curses also had a time limit for them to learn a valuable lesson.
It does seem awfully good luck that a girl with a good heart who was brave enough to face the beast and who could love the beast in spite of his appearance and help him change was the one to find him. Imagine if it was a girl too afraid to stand up to him and cowered before him, or a girl who didn't love him but acted like she did so she could live in a castle and have servants. I think there was some magic in that forest pushing Belle's father toward the castle. Maybe the enchantress already had Belle in mind when she made the curse, and was waiting for the right time, or enchanted the forest itself to only the let the right girl (or someone she would look for, likeher father) in, kind of like the Cave of Wonders that only allowed Aladdin to enter.
Devine Wynter why did his parents never come back maybe they died and that's why he answered the door being 11 years old. How did the enchantress know that this would be his most self absorbed moment maybe its because if his parents died he forced all the surveys to stay with him and that's why they see him as a beast.
Mae Mitchum well the beast was a prince so he should've had a servant to answer the door in some movies the beast has invisible servants or maybe has magical powers to do what he wants and get what he wants
I don't think that is neccessarily the case. Look at #4:58, he doesn't look 11, if you look at this, he looks more like a older teenager. Also it is the Enchanted Christmas episode (where the curse was expanded upon), Chip was clearly shown to be a toddler when the curse took place (probably about 2 or 3 years old) .. My claim is that time passes by much more slowly in the castle, such that 3-4 years equates to about 10 years outside the castle.. in which case the prince would have been ~17/18 when he was cursed, and Chip 2 years old, and when the curse breaks, the prince would be 21, and Chip ~5 years alternate explanation: Lumiere said that it was 10 years since they last had a guest, it does not mean that the curse was for 10 years.. it simply means that it has been 10 years since the prince hosted anyone.
Acting like a spoiled brat may entail demanding all of the ice cream, throwing a tantrum if asked to go to bed at a regular hour or breaking his baby sister's toys. Condemning an old lady to die in a bitter snowstorm goes WAY beyond that. When you're going to be ruler of a kingdom one day, such viciousness as a child doesn't bode well for the adult you'll become. At least the fairy spared his future subjects the likely horror of his wanton cruelty.
Yeah nevermind that this psychopathic woman came knocking at the door in the middle of the night with a glowing magical object and cursed a ten year child and EVERYONE in the castle, for showing a *modicum* of caution and good sense. And by the way, where were this ten year old's parents, and why didn't the staff answer the door?
do you think the fairy godmother in Pinocchio and snow white are related because in 5:37 the movement and the face and the headbands and the hair is the same style but the hair color isn't. give a like so we can find a theory
According to a book published by Disney, The Evil Queen's father was a mirror-maker. Her father was in love with a woman, whom he later married. She wanted a child so badly that he made a deal with three wicked magical sister to give them a baby. In return he would give them his soul when he died. That is how the the Evil Queen was conceived, but the mother died during childbirth making the father hate the Evil Queen for the rest of his life until he died. When the Evil Queen married the King, she was given a present by the wicked sister who turned out to be the King's cousins. The present was the mirror with her father's soul trapped in it. It was not a fairy godmother who gave her the mirror, but evil witches. At least that's what the book explained.
I get the whole thing about being cruel to a stranger when they're in need but in actuality would u rly let an old mysterious woman in your home at night and your just 11 years old??
Ok, so first, I loved this video. Second, I have an add on to the theory. I just finished a spin-off book of Beauty and the Beast call "As Old As Time" in this the women who cursed the beast was an enchantress. But she was also Belle's mother, who was kidnapped closely after cursing the prince, who was eleven when it happened (hence why Belle didn't have a mother). It turned out that Belle was the only one to be able to break the curse to begin with because of her mother being the one to make the curse. It was really good and anyone interested should read it to check it out.
I honestly didn't like the book. At all. I hated the way it portrayed Belle and I hated how the Enchantress had enough power to curse an entire castle's population, then later "doesn't have the power to change the Beast back, only the staff" because she's too weak too. The only character I truly felt sorry for was the Beast. The idea that Belle could only break the curse because her mother was the Enchantress is a wonderful idea, but this book poorly executed it.
I had wondered about her for years, even before the live action Cinderella. My thoughts were a fairy, Pinocchio’s fairy or tinker bell. I used both of those as examples because they both were human sized (think grew big in hook with Robin Williams), they tend to glow because of their dust, much mike the woman in the beast and yes, they can have a twisted side to them like tinker belle. Fairies can do good but are often tricksters too. Godmothers never glow, they tend to be magical like witches. And yes, they do give out items it doesn’t explain their blonde hair. I’m basing this on the movies prior the beauty and the beast since if they were connecting them then they would link what was available to choose from. The only blind magical women I can think of prior to the release of beauty and the beast are fairies. If you further think of it, if it was a godmother from Cinderella or sleeping beauty then she would have looked older in her true formation reveal. I believe fairy godmothers lose their” youthful glow “ much like women tend to do when they age. The only fairy I can see fitting the bill is the blue fairy. Since she is human sized in all her appearances. She rewards Pinocchio when he is good and has the power to transform him into one being (wood) into a human. She is caring and loving and wants him to genuinely succeed which is why she gives him jimmeny cricket. She also allows his nose to grow and him to get a tail when he is not on the right path. Much like the prince turning into the beast (Pinocchio the donkey) and his helpers (cogsworth and lumier). The only thing that gets me is the green dress. I had originally thought tinker bell because of her iconic green dress and white in the action cartoon..The only thing I can think of is that it’s the blue fairy at a younger age. And they transition clothing styles as they mature. Chronically beauty and the beast Before Pinnochio and peter pan. So. Yeah. That’s where I get “tangled” up in my thinking. (Pun intended)
I think that fact that Fairygodmothers are sent to help people in their time of need is very amazing👌. The fact that such magical being use there powers to show that their is still hope for people who in their darkest hour😔☄. Yes, the conditions have time limits, they follow up as a curse, but when you think about it, the the lesson of the Beast lesson was to open your heart to love others, because if he didn't have this curse he could have been this horrible cruel inside monster👹. Also if there wasn't a Fairygodmother, Cinderella would have been miserable her whole life and loss hope in herself😇. Also my favorite ice cream is ANYTHING with chocolate 🍫🍦
I don't she was Cinderella fairy godmother. But the reason the others were punished for the beast being a brat was so he not only so he have someone who care forever but also to give him guilt. 11 or not he was a royal brat back then and I never acted that way when I was little. I don't know if this because there were no parents to punish him when he misbehaved or nobody thought to teach right from wrong before it was too late and he became the spoiled prince who never cared about anyone but himself.
But why curse an 11 year old child? Yes he's spoiled but at least tell the servants to teach him how to act properly and wait to see the results before placing a curse on the boy
@@carna-9501 don't you think if would have listened to them they would have. In the Christmas episode they give a book for a present and he couldn't even bother to say thank you for the gift. The musician tried to play and he whined about the music. At 11 he old enough to try to be polite but he nothing but a brat.
Sorry, I'm not sure if you understood or not. (I know, I wasn't very clear). It's just that in Once Upon a Time (the series), the Evil Queen pretty much has her whole arc revolving around her trying to be good and could actually match the description of a fairy god-mother as given here... And please don't jump into conclusions when you see people using English in a strange way. Sometimes non-native speakers do make mistakes believe it or not.
Fairy godmother is a name to disguise, infact she's the ancient mother goddess. They use the name fairy godmother to cover her real identity as the mother goddess as paganism was not to be introduced and forbidden. Just like the ancient Greek goddess Demeter disguise herself as a crone. And then revealed herself as a beautiful goddess. When she travel to eleusis.
Most of the confusion here I think comes from thinking the enchantress was all good or all evil. Assuming she was some sort of fae creature, at best many of them they were seen as ambiguously amoral beings, at worst they were malevolent , spiteful, and malignant beings. So you could say that her intentions for casting her spell may depend on what she sees in the hearts of mortals, but you could also say that her actions don't always follow any particular set of logic that we can easily understand.
I think the beast was a serene highness and not a royal highness, meaning his father was a Duke in charge of a Duchy and not a King in charge of a Kingdom. I think this because Duchies and Dukes were common in medieval France before Louis XIV claimed supremacy and the region didn't seem to be affected by the absence of a rightful monarch, as they would be in the days of absolutism.
In the live-action Cinderella's case, it should. In the animated film, she just appears out of nowhere, no build up or mention or anything. And with a live-action _Beauty and the Beast_ on the way, Disney were trying to get a point across of what they believe fairy godmothers do.
Maddy Burrows Not In The Least. Keep In Mind That The Original Stories Were 1. Created A LONG Time Ago And 2. Were Created For Adults,Not Kids So They Had A Lot Of Things Like Murder And Rape. Disney Clearly Can't Have That So They Kind Of Got A Disney Universe Of The Stories That End In A Lot More Happily Ever Afters.
***** I haven't seen any of the live action. Really? I always thought that they were cautionary tales for children... I even had the originals when I was a child. Children just weren't wimps back then.
***** . I looked it up now because I couldn't believe that my parents would have lied to me about that, and I'm right. Where did you get that they were for adults? Edit: I've just seen the wikipedia page. Odd. It does say that adults were the target just as often as children, yet I'm sure that stories like beauty and the beast were cautionary.
especially after seeing the movie version, it added a few good things. Firstly the prince looked older, so that's good, it further explained why the servants were cursed, because as I think Lamar said "We did nothing." The prince was corrupted by his father (who presumably left him later) and his mother was dead and they did nothing for him, but to keep being servants, unlike say someone like Alfred. As for the enchantress I'd describe her as Chaotic good- does the right thing through extreme means.
I understand people saying it wasn't fair because the prince was only 11, but seriously. He was a prince! I don't think the guards were going to let an old woman hurt him if he asked a servant to bring her a glass of water and then let her sit by the fire until daybreak. He's not a helpless home alone child, he's a defended well guarded spoiled brat who needed taught a lesson
Well, none of the servants really seemed to mind being furniture/appliances/instruments ect. Some of them even seemed to enjoy it. In any case, the Enchantress may be arrogant, but I wouldn't call her "evil." If anything, she's morally gray like The Cheshire Cat, the three hags, and the Mirror.
they said that the cursed people stopped aging. that means the beast should have been a young man by then, maybe 17 or 18. lumier did said that they have been cursed for ten years, so the beast sould have been 27 by that time, and on the rose's point of view, the rose bloomed by the time the beast was 21, but didn't have a time frame until the the last petal fall. who knows, maybe it would only shed a petal once a year, or twice a year, it was not said in the story, so that would make him not a young boy by the time he was curse. besides, who would curse a lad for his misbehaviour?
Even if he were a 17 yr old, there is no justice in transforming him into a demon-looking beast and shape-shifting his innocent servants. Realistically, his guards should had attempted to protect their sovereign and slay that Devil-worshiping sorceress for her devilry the moment she revealed herself
So, an 11 year old doesn't let a stranger in, probably because his parents (where are they, by the way) told him not to, and suddenly, it is an issue about looks... But there are more thing I wonder about the movie. Like, Maurice wasn't able to tell what happened in the castle, but somehow Gaston knew that Belle would do anything to keep her father from getting locked up.
Remember Hospitality was a thing back in those days heck look at the Bible!! There's Abraham's servant meeting Rebecca at a well (and R offers him a drink of water as well as his mode of transportation)) Rebecca becomes Issac's wife, his son Jacob meets his cousin (and future wife number #1 Rachel ((Leah is wife #2)).) at a well. , Moses meets Zipporah at one. Not to mention in the New Testament Jesus asks a Samaritan for a drink. In some fairytales a fairy is disguesed as a beggar, etc at a well and tests the women who come to get water "Diamonds and Toads"? so maybe the other thing was a test.
PrincessofEllabur With all the respect, I am not a Christian, so I haven't really read the bible. And there are plenty of fairy tales which try to teach you not to open the door for a stranger...
Briana Maldonado Might be a good theory. The other thing I wonder about Chip is why he's the only one of Mrs. Potts kids who really connects with his mom. And also the only one who appeared to be turned into a human again.
Briana Maldonado Also, he does look more like an adult in the stained glass illustrations, but in the prequel, he appeared to be just a kid when he got cursed. The thing about Disney is that the sequels/prequels usually don't make much sense, or even ruin the original movie, though.
It actually makes sense how the Beast was cursed-he was a prince so he already had "everything" (except good internal qualities like compassion apparently), whereas Cinderella had nothing outwardly but she had it all internally so she was gifted some swag for a few hours. I've always love chocolate and pistachio.
Interesting theory, but I have another. I believe that she meant to curse everyone, but she did have good intentions. Before I explain my theory, I need to clear up/explain some plot holes. Firstly while we know the beast to be a prince, we don't see his parents, who would be the king and queen, and his absence doesn't seem to have any negative impact on the people or the kingdom. My explanation for this is that he is one of many children of the king, and that the castle the story takes place in is his PERSONAL castle (wow that is some impressive spoiling, even for royalty). Next plot hole, why did she curse his staff? Well the explanation is simple, wither they tried or not, they didn't try hard enough to teach him right from wrong, and if that ain't enough, then maybe the fact that they might've been able to find someone who could break the curse, without fulfilling its conditions. Or they would find someone who would fulfill the conditions but wouldn't change the beast for the better. Another plot hole is his age but, you have to keep in mind that we think hes young because we using the standards of today. Back in those times people were lucky to make it to fifty or sixty, so people had to grow up faster. I don't know what would've been expected of someone that age at that time, but I'm certain that it would be more then in our time. Next is why curse him at all, hes just a kid. Well even if they were still considered a kid at that age back then, which they may or may not have been, most kids learn the basics of right and wrong at age seven or eight. So he still should've known that it would've been right to let her in. And if anyone makes to this point says "but what about the danger of letting a stranger in" or something like that. One did she look dangerous, two he has guards to protect him, three most people were more trusting in tell world wars, cold wars, gangs, etc. and if all of that isn't enough, he didn't think about safety, he thought, "she's ugly, I'm not letting that in." And that is my theory/explanation of the enchantresses actions.
Easy for you to say all he felt was "She's ugly, I'm not letting that in". Than along with the right or wrong common sense assumption justifying the Enchantress' curse was quite an oversimplistic generalization. What hard evidence is there supporting the implied claim that children on Earth, across civilizations, in this or any century, learn from their culture "righteousness" means inviting a potentially dangerous, dirty, drenched stranger whose hideously grotesque, loitering, and a vagrant trespasser on your property into your house because they're asking for shelter? 7 years ago, was not the popular consensus of what's the "right" reaction to make when bothered by this repulsive disturbance reporting them immediately to the police upon your request for them to leave. If this person didn't back off. Turning her in instead of away was the typical response 7 years ago. When in the history of a human civilization was welcoming some random disgusting person into your home in any instance a tradition taught early to children? When did a physically unattractive person become the person children are taught how to trust and openly invite near them without considering any risks. Especially one harassing them with uncomfortable begging for permission to access their home. Which was and still is across the world a situation avoided with extreme prejudice. The prince was held at a standard I'm not convinced anyone on Earth, regardless of their age, is meeting. Nor was this a realistic expectation to hold in the 1500s/1600s..? Sympathy is felt for her because she is described as an the elderly woman in the rain. Invoking a strong emotional reaction expecting her to receive hospitality. But this doesn't mean allowing strangers into homes was ever considered morally essential to teach children. This test was unreasonable. Especially given how apparently neither his parents nor grandparents were in the castle.
what if the evil queen was a fairy GodMother her self that turned bad? and thats why she has a mirror and powers herself? she even turns herself into an old woman at the end.
There is a book called time after time that explains all of this greatly! In it Bell's mother cursed the Beast! It is a great book and highly recommend it it is also part of a sires called Twisted tales (based on real story tales but they are changed ....example "what if Aladdin had never found the lamp? " )
I found that book in the library and I am currently reading it myself. I am not done yet and I am enjoying it. I am recommending it to those who have not read it, it's very good so far.
I totally agree with this. I don't think that the enchantress was evil. I believe that she wanted to teach the prince a lesson. She didn't want the prince to grow up to be a tyrant. There were kings and queens who were tyrants throughout history and they abused power. Maybe the enchantress was sick of seeing kingdoms and people ruined and destroyed by tyrants so I believe that she wanted to teach Prince Adam a lesson. I agree that the curse brought the prince and his staff closer together and it bettered the kingdom. I think that the enchantress knew what was best to help Prince Adam be a good, kind hearted ruler. And I do respect everyone's opinion. I do disagree that that the enchantress is a villain but if people want to believe that than that is fine. My favorite ice cream is chocolate and cookies n cream.
And what about this: the beast's fairy godmother was also the evil queen's fairy godmother! That's why she knew how tirant they can be and didn't want adam to follow the same path!
really looking at the opening of beauty and the beast, when the "beast"/prince, opened the door, he did look like a kid, very differente from his 21st self when the spell was broken
No, in the original stained glass opening he is adult. He looks like a kid in the sequel movies, which I don't really count as canon, but money grabs. They probably went with the '10 years we've been rusting line.' I think there was an enchantment that slowed down time and he was responsible for his bad behavior.
indiciaobscure in the painting he is a bit older also, but the live action he is a kid, in the animated original version, when he opens the door to the old lady he is young and slim
@@guilhermehey3736 Well, we all know Disney in the recent years has had a thing for awful twist villains. Plus we dont see the queen die. We see her fall
My theory with the age issue is that the Beast still ages because he has until his 21st year. His servants do not age because they are not the ones being punished. In the movie, it only ever said that he would remain a beast forever, not that his servants would remain objects forever (I am aware that in the stage plays they turn into antiques). So, the servants' ages are simply frozen while the Beast still ages so the spell can still be affective
Fairy Godmothers in Disney have time limits so if this were true it makes sense because there’s a time limit for every Fairy Godmother: Cinderella’s godmother gave her until midnight, Sleeping Beauty’s godmother gave 16 years, Ursula (I’m counting her because she fits what we’re searching for) gave Ariel 3 days, so if this were the case, it makes sense that the Beasts Fairy Godmother gave 21 years, I wonder how long they gave the Evil Queen.
I mean, even as 18. Wouldn’t you tell someone that you don’t know to go away even if where you live? is massive. even if they are beautiful like that describes the fairy, I wouldn’t be letting her in
y'know. In Irish mythology King Niall of the Nine Hostages (who I was named after) was out with his brothers when a goddess tried to sell them a rose disguised as a hag. The foolish brothers turned her away for her ugliness but the the wise king bought the rose and married her and was rewarded with wisdom and power. I think it is weird that you never mentioned that
The fairy tale was inspired by the true story of Petrus and Catherine of France. Petrus was a boy with hypertrichosis and was adopted into a noble family. He was arranged to marry Catherine when he grew up. Catherine was afraid of him at first cause of his hideous condition but grew to love him. They had seven kids.
Kaylie Richmond recall that she set an age limit of 21 on him so he was the only one that was curse to age to a certain point. she did not include the servants in that part of it.
Good idea, but that's an old fashioned way of saying age. In my family, everyone loves to remind each other how my great-grandfather died "in his 100th year" meaning he was 99. It does seem hard to believe that someone would curse a kid for being a brat, but that's what the movie says. :(
Some people have theorized on this and my best explanation is that Beast is the only living being in the castle. Since the subjects are inanimate objects then they can't age. Thanks for watching!
Hey Wotso! 🤗 I just wanted to say, as plausible and convincing as your hypothesis/theory was with all the evidence you provided, I’m not completely positive that you hit the target. There is one source of information that is certified by Disney that reveals the back story to Prince Adam’s/The Beast’s back Story which includes more information about the Enchantress. It’s a novel titled “The Beast Within”. I think this is well worth looking into and that there’s more that Disney wants to explain. And there’s more of these books for different characters as well, they are the villains trilogy called “A Villains Collection”.
I dont believe the evil queen was gifted the mirror. If you remember in her castle she has books on black magic and astrology and curses. She was a witch queen but used her magic to darken herself. She could of stolen the mirror from someone who was once gifted it by a fairy godmother OR she could have created it herself.
captainbrunch Also, the magic mirror Beast has is just an enchanted object. Anyone can use it, as we saw from Belle and Gaston being able to not only use the mirror but don't suffer any negative consequences for using the mirror outside of Beast's castle. Whereas the Evil Queen's magic mirror has a spirit trapped inside it that she can talk to and apparently the Evil Queen is the only one capable of using it. I think fairy godmothers can create enchanted objects through their own natural magic, by channeling that magic through a wand. Witches have to create magic mirrors using existing mirrors and performing complicated spells to trap spirits inside, much like a genie in a lamp.
Did the curse also wipe the memory of the Prince from the people in Belle's village, as Maurice and Belle seemed surprised to find a castle out in the forest?
Marie it makes sense because if the prince was distant and the curse was to make everyone see the prince they saw, they would forget because he was practically nonexistent
my own theory is that age was slowed down. so 10 years / 2 means the beast was 16. and like maleficent maybe the evil Queen was once good. what do you think?
Kyle Olsen I like that idea. Growing up I'd always thought that time was frozen for them all, even the prince, but later I realized the whole 21st birthday didn't fit. But this theory works. :D
The evil stepmother in Snow White having a fairy godmother of her own is actually what happened in the novel Fairest by Gail Carson Lavine. Great theories and great video keep it up. :)
That poor old woman looked so sweet and she was standing outside in the cold rain.. I volunteered at a nursing home when I was in school. They are truly the kindest generation. So him leaving her out in the rain made me really sad as a kid and still to this day
Uhhh if they were all suspended in time why did he get to age all alone? he should still be 11. Or is it because he wasn't an inanimate object like the others he's allowed to age....??? :S
I think, it's because if he grew older, it be easier for him to realize his behavior was wrong, since it's easier to realize you're being a jerk when you're 20 than when you're 12
Factoid Firefly I think that he was also frozen in time in a sense. Like maybe time was slowed so one year lasted ten year. That's why chip is still only around 7 years old, which would be why the beast looks so much older than 11 at the beginning of the movie.
Factoid Firefly I think because even though the objects were unfairly cursed I guess they didn't deserve to get older and miss parts of their lives as the beast had to age
Just discovered your videos today and they’re awesome! And your explanations have evidence and you definitely know your Disney facts. And rocky road ice creams the best ✨✨
I have heard of this theory before and if the Beast knew that this would make sense. I just think it is even more interesting that the Beast would fall in love with Belle if her mother cursed him. Thanks for watching!
Wotso Videos after you said he could see the outside world it kind of made sense because he's a loner and loners don't necessarily have to have a connection to the outside world. That would mean he on purposely looked for a woman to break his spell (more than likely from the ideas from his main servants, which they didn't actually think it would work). He seemed on the fence about if it would ever be broken in the first place after 10 years. He was way too prepared for belle, (think about it) there was woman's clothes which fit her size perfectly (how did he know her exact size?), a massive library (that he more more than likely didn't use or keep up maintenance on part 2 he said he didn't read), jewelry, her own room already made up. I wish the movie had explained those things.
0:26 Ok - according to the flower (which is almost wilted btw) which wilts on his 18th bithday he was at least before the age of 18 before he got the rose According to be our guest the sevents have been unused for 10 years, making the beast no older than 8 when he got cursed..> So your telling me that any 8 year old who rejects an old creepy woman who can't even pay him is doing it out of hate...
0:32 correction - 21st birthday and he was 11 when the godmother appeared to him AT THE MOST - this is assuming the 'ten years we've been rusting' started the very day he turned into a beast (Which it may or may not have...)
I think they want us to have a double interpretation of that because the servants are frozen in time. I am guessing that he was given 10 years for the spell and that he was 21 when he was cursed but if he were frozen in time he would still be 31 and that might make his romance with Belle wrong.
I believe his curse wasn't frozen in time like the servants, because the magic was limited like in Cinderella, the enchantress wanted to give him time to grow and learn to love someone. If he did not, by his 21 first birthday, he too would probably be frozen in time like his servants maybe.
You're thinking of it from a modern perspective. In the time many of these stories date back to it was considered a sacred obligation to offer hospitality to those in need of shelter. It wasn't a kid rejecting a woman who couldn't pay. It was a rejection of goodwill and duty. There are actually many stories from many different cultures about gods and fairies exacting punishment on those who are too proud or selfish to offer shelter to weary travelers.
HE WAS 11! also - where was his butler - or his parents? Wouldn't cogsworth be the one who should have opened the door? Shouldn't there have been SOME guardian to him that was the final say?
I've never seen that version where the enchantress came and cursed the prince and all his servants.. Is that the old version of beauty and the beast or?
Baron Jr That is a movie meant to take place during the winter of the the time Belle spent with the Beast, made into sort of a sequel/special called The Enchanted Christmas. The scenes shown are flashbacks made during that movie
Nobody will learn something about fairytails and godmothers by studying Disney movies. If you wan't to learn more about these storys, you have to study the old versions of the fairytales and the culture, they are coming from.
The moral of the story is to be kind to whomever you can despite appearance. A kid of 10-11 should have this idea already ESPECIALLY royalty. They were well known sticklers for such conduct. Perhaps his parents are dead and this gave him a self entitled ego "because I'm the prince". Would explain complete absence of them. Point is. He had the point blank ability and means to spare a room (I mean he kinda HAD to for Belle later so it was available) he was just being a selfish punk who likely would not learn his lesson and become a tyrant because, face it. He's a PRINCE. who could tell him what to do right? Who else but one with actual power. If he had sent her away in another way with far less force as he did like, "I'm sorry. I have no room to spare." Maybe it would have been different. But according to what's given he literally said "I don't need a rose. Go away you old hag." Very rude thing to say to anyone, especially what would be an old woman on the night of a blizzard to be sure!! That would be the same as "fuck you! Go die old bitch." By today's lingo. The enchantress came at a time when he was still young and impressionable and therefor be able to be saved. The time limit was reasonable because those years are a persons defining growth. After it's kinda difficult to turn a ruined royal. The enchantress is a fairy godmother I think whose methods are different. She even calls herself "The Enchantress". So possibly a fairy matriarch. She knew what she was doing and let's face it. It worked. Also. I like tart frozen yogurts.
I like to believe that after Belle and Prince Adam (the Beast) got married, they probably had children of their own and they possibly might be muggle-born witches and wizards in regards to *Harry Potter* . Their children would all attend school at Beauxbatons and the Enchantress would occasionally come to Beauxbatons to tutor Belle and Adam's children in whichever magical disciplines they excelled the most in.
...he was a kid, whose parents weren't home. I would have told her to leave too.
Roxanna Black lmao
LMAO
AMEN!
Roxanna Black Ha thats very true!
Roxanna Black true but his servants were they're to
There's a book called "As Old As Time: A Twisted Tale"
It shows that Belle's mother could be the enchantress.
That was a great read I liked it a lot when I read it. It was an interesting take and I loved the French references and the more detailed background on the characters and not just belle and beast.
OMG! I got that book and I'm going to read it soon!
The original tale is great to begin with, and to my opinion this is still one of the best adaptations :) it has so much heart
Lou Depp yup yup, which why im so excited for the live action
Honestly I really hate all the live action remakes they've been doin these last years... But yeah, this one really's got me excited as well :p can't wait !
Lou Depp i always get excited for live actions even when they make me cringe. . . all in all the new trailer for beautynbeast looks amazingly promising so far inmyopin
Just a small thought, "The enchantress that cursed him has a crown, is she the queen of all fairy godmother's then?"
I tgink most people who use magic wear crowns or headpieces. They serve as symbols of there magical powers.
@@queenvictoria5710 um where's ur evidence
@@adrianonoble3387 The books explain even more
I think the witch from Brave might be the same fairy god mother. She took on the form of a small old woman in a green cloak like dress. She had enchanted items and turned people into "beasts" using her magic in hopes of teaching them a powerful lesson. Those curses also had a time limit for them to learn a valuable lesson.
Interesting
Looking for this
That's cool. Meanwhile I thought she was the evil queen of Snow White and Gothel in Tangled.
My theory is that the beast ages because an animal ages. A candlebrum does nor
Okay that makes a lot of sense. He appears to be the only creature that is not an animated item. Thanks for watching.
+Wotso Videos he was 11 years old and he's parents was not home. I would have told her to leave.
My claim is that time passes by much more slowly in the castle, such that 3-4 years equates to about 10 years outside the castle.. in which case the prince would have been ~17/18 when he was cursed, and Chip 2 years old, and when the curse breaks, the prince would be 21, and Chip ~5 years
alternate explanation: Lumiere said that it was 10 years since they last had a guest, it does not mean that the curse was for 10 years.. it simply means that it has been 10 years since the prince hosted anyone.
Sees a 10 year old orphan acting like a brat:turns him into a beast!
Wednesday Addams Let's not forget what all kids are taught about "Stranger Danger."
Wednesday Addams I agree. he would've been 12 when she cursed him- he was just doing what he was told, to avoid strangers.
I love growing up when you all of a sudden realize the potentially mental and psychological parts of Disney
do you think the fairy godmother in Pinocchio and snow white are related because in 5:37 the movement and the face and the headbands and the hair is the same style but the hair color isn't. give a like so we can find a theory
Disney just re-used a lot of animation shots back in the day because animating was so time-consuming.
There’s a Fairy God Mother in Snow White?
Symphony Altessimo yeah I think Snow White step mother was former fairy Godmother
they were created around the same time. probably drawn by the same person. theres no theory behind that.
Jean Pérez Well, somebody has read "Fairest Of All". :-)
Sjoerd Eltink YYESSS, I LOVE THAT BOOK
Jean Pérez what's the book ?
Andrea Rodriguez "Fairest of All" by Serena Valentino. There's one about the Beast as well in which she explains why he was cursed.
Jean Pérez I found a book published by Disney "called as old as time" that explains Belle's mother is he enchantress and is locked in the asylum.
I get the whole thing about being cruel to a stranger when they're in need but in actuality would u rly let an old mysterious woman in your home at night and your just 11 years old??
Jasmine Myrick fuuuuuuck no lmao
loll ur brave
Jasmine Myrick was he only 11? Wow
(Pun intended)
my favorite type of ice cream is ice cream
Luna Star vanilla ice cream

Flor Rosa mine too
Nightmare Nebula :)
At 11 he old enough to try to be polite but he nothing but a brat.
maybe the evil queen was a fairy godmother once upon a time.
was this sentence voluntary or did you not do this on purpose?
Dominika Malicka my fault... I don't speak troll
Dominika Malicka my apologies... and thank you
peace and blessings😊
KydWyz that would be pretty accurate
The connection between the way that the Beast and his subjects perceive each other is brilliant! it makes total sense!
this theory holds up very well i believe it to be true
I'm happy you liked the theory! Thanks for watching!
Justin Zhang Huh that’s interesting and I love Greek mythology.
Freya Stuart wow, you know lots of history, don't you? ☺️😊 ( no offence, intended )
Daria Chan Ha! No offense taken! Thank you! I'm really interested in history!
you are dumb girl
The live-action movies have nothing to do with the classic animated ones.
In the live-action Cinderella's case, it should. In the animated film, she just appears out of nowhere, no build up or mention or anything. And with a live-action _Beauty and the Beast_ on the way, Disney were trying to get a point across of what they believe fairy godmothers do.
But, do they have much to do with the Grimm tales that they're based off?
Who else got creeped out by the end 🤣🤣 just me ? 😅
I didn't think it would be creepy but even after reading your comment, when I saw the end I was hella creeped out too lol.
I agree with you. When he is the sole ruler, he should be he held at a higher stander. Thanks for watching!
It’s not that big of a deal
where did you find that cartoon with Prince Adam as a young man??
Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas
Thanks for watching!
Anouk Ketelaars makes you wonder what message kids movies are giving children
Our school recently did the play Beauty and the Beast and I played the Enchantress...
One did she look dangerous, two he has guards to protect him, three most people were more trusting in tell world wars, cold wars, gangs, etc. and if all of that isn't enough, he didn't think about safety, he thought, "she's ugly, I'm not letting that in."
And that is my theory/explanation of the enchantresses actions.
So who was running the kingdom this whole time...?
SafetySpooon I have no idea maybe his parents died and that why he is mean and selfish and he had to run the castle himself... Just a guess.
maybe he was a third or fourth son, a spare heir ?
maybe i don't know
Nespa lol

what if the evil queen was a fairy GodMother her self that turned bad? and thats why she has a mirror and powers herself? she even turns herself into an old woman at the end.
I am recommending it to those who have not read it, it's very good so far.
wow this is my new favorite channel! dude you went way deeper than I ever did on this story and this is my favorite story of all time
I totally agree with this.
I'm glad you think so as well! I never really saw her as a villain either; she did help the Beast and the kingdom in the end. Thanks for watching!
Wotso Videos love it
I always saw it that way. I never understood though why the villagers didn’t remember about the castle and the servants?
And what about this: the beast's fairy godmother was also the evil queen's fairy godmother! That's why she knew how tirant they can be and didn't want adam to follow the same path!
Valeria serna bedoya You’re theory actually makes more sense.

I did. Thanks for watching.

really looking at the opening of beauty and the beast, when the "beast"/prince, opened the door, he did look like a kid, very differente from his 21st self when the spell was broken
in real life he was 11 come onnnn !!??!!!!
I heard the painting part was something they overlooked. when it was initially create, alongside the stain glass.
Luisa Lee exactly, something that i guess they corrected in this live action since the painting in the live action he is a kid in the painting :)
the queen in snow white makes herself old, right?? 🤔
PrincessCat 3900 She Was Said To Be Over 200
And shes dead
YES SHE DOES AND I WAS THINKING THAT
Yeah! I thought the sorceress was the evil queen!
I'm not sure if I agree, but man am I intrigued! This is some good evidence! Here's to part 2!
(P.S. my favorite ice cream is Moose Tracks)

I like to think that all Fairy godmothers are the same one.
I mean, they can shapeshift with magic, right?
Could you please do one about my favorite disney villain Maleficent? Please?
For sure! I love Maleficent. She's one I am planning on doing soon. Thanks for watching!

No. Belle saw passed his hideousness.
Omg. Such interesting perspectives! I wish I had thought of those! Real genius
Thank you! I'm happy liked the content of the video! Thanks for watching!
I love vanilla ice cream and I subscribed to ur channel I love your vids there really amazing keep up the great work
ice cream ...Chocolate is my fave.
Prince Beast was just 10 or 11 of course he wouldn't of let her in!
this is a really interesting take. I like it.
I'm happy you enjoyed it!! Thanks for watching!
Wouldn’t you tell someone that you don’t know to go away even if where you live? is massive. even if they are beautiful like that describes the fairy, I wouldn’t be letting her in
Along with any age
Very good concept that answered some holes for me in the story!
I'm glad I helped with some of the story! Thanks for watching and stay awesome.
This channel deserves at least 2 million subs
Thank you for the compliment! I hope one day I can get there some day! Thanks for watching!
Wotso Videos no problem 😊 good luck in the future. You've just earned a new sub! Well you already had it
I am looking forward for a while. this is awesome
When he said “king Stefan” I screamed bc I played him In a play once............ I pretty much got bullied cuz of that
What is the scene that shows young Beast and Enchantress from? It's not from the movie right? I don't remember it
It's from Beauty and the Beast and the Enchanted Christmas. Thanks for watching!
so wouldn't the beast still be like. you know. 11. i don't think he should be marrying yet.
Kaylie Richmond recall that she set an age limit of 21 on him so he was the only one that was curse to age to a certain point. she did not include the servants in that part of it.
Kaylie Richmond She might have wanted him to take time to learn to love.
If they were frozen in time that means he could have been cursed as an adult. Maybe 21st year means 21 years after the spell was cast? Just a theory
Good idea, but that's an old fashioned way of saying age. In my family, everyone loves to remind each other how my great-grandfather died "in his 100th year" meaning he was 99. It does seem hard to believe that someone would curse a kid for being a brat, but that's what the movie says. :(
yeah,if the spell paused time for them, then he married Bell as an 11 year old
if chip didn't age why did Adam age?
Some people have theorized on this and my best explanation is that Beast is the only living being in the castle. Since the subjects are inanimate objects then they can't age. Thanks for watching!
This is the very first Watso Video I’ve ever seen and I’ve loved this series ever since.
Great video! Thank you for your Discovering Disney series, very fun and interesting to watch!
What is the other version of Beauty and the Beast Movie you are showing on this video? I would like to see it.
It is the Beauty and the Beast and the Enchanted Christmas. Thanks for watching!
SLR 05 it is the Disney move
This is actually pretty interesting.
Glad you think so! Thanks for watching!
The beast was technically like 11 years old.... so sad...
Thank you for bringing a deeper understanding to these stories!
Even when I was little, she was the character that intrigued me the most
Theory! The enchantress is boo from monsters ink! Why else turn her into a 'kitty!'
Maybe
In the Disney Twisted Tales Book Series, the Echantress is Belles Mother.
Seem Weird?
My favorite ice cream is Cookies and Cream ice cream or Oreo.
Just subbed!! I'm getting hooked on all these Disney theories!!!!!
Welcome to the party! I'm glad you are enjoying the videos!! Thanks for watching!
I loooove these kinda things. You don't how I squeaked when I saw the title! Oh my gahhhHHHHHHDDDD!
I'm happy you were excited to see it! Thanks for watching!
Wotso Videos ;)
Witches have to create magic mirrors using existing mirrors and performing complicated spells to trap spirits inside, much like a genie in a lamp.
we don't know if it is possible for anyone besides the EQ to use it.
Love this theory, it should be made canon lel
Wow! I definitely think it is a cool way to link all of the stories to one another. Thanks for watching!
I will never look at beauty and the beast the same way ever again
I believe that the enchantress is either some sort of angel spirit or maybe even a deity.
My favorite type of ice cream is bubblegum
Did the curse also wipe the memory of the Prince from the people in Belle's village, as Maurice and Belle seemed surprised to find a castle out in the forest?
I am not sure. They could have been very far away. Or they could have been an independent village without rule. Thanks for watching.
I think so.
Marie it makes sense because if the prince was distant and the curse was to make everyone see the prince they saw, they would forget because he was practically nonexistent
Marie yes, it says so in the Live action movie
my own theory is that age was slowed down. so 10 years / 2 means the beast was 16. and like maleficent maybe the evil Queen was once good. what do you think?
Kyle Olsen I like that idea. Growing up I'd always thought that time was frozen for them all, even the prince, but later I realized the whole 21st birthday didn't fit. But this theory works. :D
how come?
why not?
If you don't age, you kinda can't "turn" any age.
I could see this explanation as well. Thanks for watching.
So him leaving her out in the rain made me really sad as a kid and still to this day
Wouldn’t that mean that he was like 11 and he was like stranger danger and closed the door
Beauty and the Beast full movie is in theaters
Factoid Firefly I think because even though the objects were unfairly cursed I guess they didn't deserve to get older and miss parts of their lives as the beast had to age
I got an ad about the trailer of "Beauty and the Beast" before this.. Huh.
Can you do a vid about the stepmother and the mirror? Now I want to hear more of it :)
Just discovered your videos today and they’re awesome! And your explanations have evidence and you definitely know your Disney facts. And rocky road ice creams the best ✨✨
It could have been Belle's mom. That's probably why he put Belle's dad in prison
0:26 Ok - according to the flower (which is almost wilted btw) which wilts on his 18th bithday he was at least before the age of 18 before he got the rose
According to be our guest the sevents have been unused for 10 years, making the beast no older than 8 when he got cursed..>
So your telling me that any 8 year old who rejects an old creepy woman who can't even pay him is doing it out of hate...
Baron Jr no that is the original movie. it's just right in the very beginning.
Baron Jr That is a movie meant to take place during the winter of the the time Belle spent with the Beast, made into sort of a sequel/special called The Enchanted Christmas. The scenes shown are flashbacks made during that movie
Sommer Looney Ah, I see. Thanks for your explanation! I haven't watch the Enchanted Christmas one..
Blue moon ice cream is the best
now we know where the evil queen learns to transform into an older person
Go away you old hag."
Very rude thing to say to anyone, especially what would be an old woman on the night of a blizzard to be sure!!
Chocolate chip ice cream (yum)
I like to believe that after Belle and Prince Adam (the Beast) got married, they probably had children of their own and they possibly might be muggle-born witches and wizards in regards to *Harry Potter* . Their children would all attend school at Beauxbatons and the Enchantress would occasionally come to Beauxbatons to tutor Belle and Adam's children in whichever magical disciplines they excelled the most in.
Lmao what?
this is the question have been waiting for
