The boom of all these life simulation games is the huge failure of Sims 4, if Maxis would have followed with the winning formula and awesome aspects of Sims 2 and 3, they would have kept the oppressive monopoly on the genre, Sims 4 failed so much it gave this huge opening for competition, Sims 4 only two good things is best performance related to PC aspect and graphics and those two have a lot of room to improve

Maybe I'm the weird one, but if you have a 10-year-old PC, you can't expect to play new-gen games. That's really not how it works. Technology advances, and new systems are created. If we all got stuck, nothing new would ever get developed. And honestly, one of the main problems with The Sims is the people dragging it. Like, it took a lot of time for me to give up on my 3DS because I loved that console, but Nintendo switched to the Switch without asking any of us our opinion.

This argument has been going on forever. I have always thought similar.. You can't just play on a 10yo pc and still expect to play a game from today well if at all. I understand that it makes people who don't have a lot of money feel left out but it is what it is. As a poor myself I have a desktop pc specifically so i can update my rig in pieces and sometimes I have to save for several months in order to afford some upgrades, and yes sometimes I have to push upgrades back due to live being a butt to me, but that is just the price of pc gaming when poor you have to adopt patience and persistence and maybe even learn how to scavenge and fix stuff. You might not be a gamer other than life sims but you are playing a game and there for might need to do what gamers need to do in order to game. People are pretty stubborn about it though. They even get mad and nasty about it when us gamers that are use to these things are just trying to explain how things are.

A lot of people don’t understand how gaming on PC works. Sims 3 was my favorite out the entire franchise, and the amount of people that complained about it because of their outdated hardware and so called lack of “optimization” of The Sims 3 is wild to me. I played the sims across 3 different PC’s and never had an issue. Tho I was mostly playing on desktop before finally playing on laptop.

I have a good pc and i wanna play good games on it and ... not games which would run on a 10yo pc too. I mean look at all the AAA games, they are for newer consoles or pc and no one bats an eye. Games doesnt need to be available for everyone. and thats good like it is.

@@Xxsorafan There are some people who don’t have the luxury of upgrading their PC every 3 or 4 years. Hard drive space and RAM are fairly easy to upgrade yourself.

I'm really interested to see this game come out. To those who aren't aware, the company developing inzoi- Krafton, had an absolute mega hit with their previous flagship game PUBG. They definitely have a lot of money to play with and can reasonably give maxis some real competition. The Sims team needs someone to give them a kick. • @catelynh1020
      @catelynh1020 6 месяцев назад +30

I mean, think of it like this. When you buy a ps4, all ps4s are the same (okay, ps4 is a bad example since they also had the pspro) in specs. Meaning every game that runs on one ps4 should run on them all. Ps4s are also over 10 years old now and any game that comes out for it is still specd for it (ie, any game coming out on both ps4 and ps5).
Computers are all different. I could buy a new computer today and end up with worse specs than my current laptop. Or i could build a new pc and run satisfactory on ultra settings with so many objects drawn on the screen that my current laptop would fry.
I can't remember if it was this game or not, but a game that was graphically intense had to send new computers to their early access people for them to be able to play it. And youtubers who would be getting early access aren't normally playing on a decade old potato.
So i think the point still stands that they need to be both optimized and consider the average player's equipment.

    • @jijipoid
      @jijipoid 6 месяцев назад +69

@@catelynh1020 they need to not consider people playing with computers not equipped for gaming and or pcs that are 10years old or older. If you want to play a computer game then you need to be getting a computer equipped for gaming.. People will just have to accept that when it comes to pc gaming it is the developer that sets the requirements needed to play their game, and if you can't meet said requirement, then you will just have to wait till you can or just don't buy. I know it seems unfair but that is how pc gaming has kind of worked for a long time. They don't need to consider anything. Now if they want to hit as big of a playerbase as possible then yes they should probably consider what the average rig type that people play on. It seems though that a few people want to hold other people back from experiencing something simply because they can't or don't want to improve their situation enough to get a better suited pc.

    • @NotLikeUs17
      @NotLikeUs17 6 месяцев назад +51

EA stating them wanting the Sims 4 to play on older PC’s is just an excuse. It’s a cop out, and also gave them room to exploit the community by selling features back piece by piece. The DLC has far exceeded 75 packs (or at least that’s when I stopped counting). 75 plus packs is going to slow an older rig down for sure, so I could only imagine what 85 or 90 packs would do. It was never about players, but their profit margin.

Watched the whole interview and honestly made me way more excited about it. The producer seems to be an actual life sim enthusiast. I kinda got the vibe that he was going for life sim combined with red dead redemption 2 type open world rpg. He was talking about a "reputation system" and the ability to tweak the violence in each world.
The youtuber "acottonsock" has a 3 hour lets play of this game if anyone wants to see actual gameplay. Her playthrough looked super interesting. The only thing i would say is that the systems weren't very in-depth. We shall have to wait and see.
Eg. Babies could just be left at home all day and had no needs. When it rained, the characters got wet, but nothing else happened. You can get married in like one day.
The graphics are obviously awesome, the animations look super realistic which is good. All I wish is for this game to have as much depth and realism as sims 2 and it could be amazjng.

The whole gendered language topic even falls apart in some Western languages because it just doesn't work well with some grammar systems. In German, for example, EVERYTHING is gendered. Every noun is gendered (example: "Lehrer" is the word for a male teacher, but a female teacher would be "Lehrerin"). It is incredibly hard to come up with gender neutral words sometimes - in the case of teachers, we can use "Lehrkraft" ("teaching person"), but that doesn't always work. For example, I couldn't come up with a neutral term for a physician ("Arzt" for male, "Ärztin" for female). I know some people who identify as nonbinary, but still use she/her or he/him pronouns in German because it's incredibly hard to stick to 100% neutral terms in this language. So I would even go a step further and say that this demand isn't even Western-centric, it's Anglo-centric. The English language is way less gendered than many other languages from the start, allowing them to just use neopronouns to be neutral, and I think a lot of people who only speak English aren't aware of the fact that it would take a LOT more in other languages to replicate this.

One thing I find strange about making a big deal about pronouns is that if you are talking to someone, you won't be using pronouns to describe them. Maybe if you are introducing someone as like, "this is Fred, he/she/they is my boss." Manners dictate that you are not supposed to talk about someone who is present as if they weren't there, so no one should really know what pronouns people are using to describe them

Tbh as a trans man, I don't feel like it's all that necessary (for me) to have trans characters, but that's just me. I haven't personally played with one single trans character in The Sims either, not one time during all these years. Actually, right now is the first time I have a non-binary character, and that required for me to really go out of my way to make it happen.
I recognise it could be a bigger of a deal for someone struggling with their gender identity in real life, though, so it might be useful in helping them accept it. I do remember I struggled a lot with it when I was younger. The fact I didn't need games to help me with it doesn't mean others wouldn't
But sexuality, however, is a thing that I play with a lot because it has a concrete effect on the gameplay, and I'd like that included in InZOI too. Yet in my opinion, it's more important they make the game work and avoid unnecessarily complicated systems. And Satch, I wholeheartedly agree on it being interesting because it for once isn't American 😂

People need to understand that in the general PC gaming community it is expected to have a high end system. Not all game companies are like EA that catered towards a casual audience, even the interview kind of pointed out that they aren't looking to swipe the sims players into Inzoi.
About sexuality and gender, I'm sure they'll include the option for gay/lesbian characters as maybe they'll want to cater to BL enjoyers (Korea has a lot of BL K-dramas and manwhas lol) but trans and other identities... Who knows, but I dont thinky they will.

I think EA and the sims is catering to an audience that isn't strictly part of the "pc gaming community". So is inzoi, but I don't think they realize it. Who knows though, maybe this will get a lot of ordinary women to become part of the mostly male dominated pc community and that will definitely send waves of influence over the entire gaming space.

I don’t know if the second half of the interview I watched last week has come out yet but in the one I watched, the producer mentioned that he’s played The Sims for 10 years along with his son. It definitely seemed like he’s invested time with his team to come up with the dream simulation game. I watched a lot of videos about it at the end of last year and joined their discord server. The team is making a very big deal about incorporating things that players would want to see implemented.
The producer also mentioned during a play through, his Zoi had aged up and eventually had a child. The child had gone out and he got a notification of them passing from an accident. He was surprised because it wasn’t something I think they had actually coded in or something at the time but he went from there to talk about incorporating both the positives as well as negatives into gameplay. The more extreme stuff people have asked about being mod-able which I personally really like. It’d be nice to have a game that’s maybe like pg-15/T for teens as its base but maybe you can mod it to make more 18+?
I’ve loved watching the interviews and seeing different comments in the community. The producer mentioned he has 20 years in RPG development and the 10 years playing the sims so it’s clear it’s given him and his team something to work with. My excitement for this game is still strong and I’m really hoping it comes out as the dream game they’ve been working so hard toward. inZoi and Paralives really have me excited for what they have coming.

inZOI should be that life sim game that's catered to high end PCs while Paralives can be the life sim people with low end PCs can play. We shouldn't force developers to downgrade a game just so that 10 year old PCs can run it, I've never seen any other genre do this except for Life Simulators.
If they do want to make a low spec version of inZOI, it should be a seperate version so that people with High End PCs don't need to worry about a downgraded experience.

I'm growing more and more interested in InZoi. My biggest point if interest in life Sim games is if characters have palpable personality and how that personality effects their behavior and social interaction, and at first it seemed like Inzoi was kind of light in that aspect. It kinda seemed like this game might be very pretty visually but shallow in terms of gameplay. But the new previews seem like they've put a lot more effort into the social gameplay so I'm more intrigued now. The character animations as well have a lot of personality and charm.

Thinking it looks "too good to be true" just shows how successful EA has conditioned people to expect literally nothing. Nonbinary gender identities are not a Western concept and they certainly weren't invented during the pandemic. Various non-Western cultures, including Indigenous, African, and Asian ones, have long had concepts of third genders or gender fluidity and many other things outside of a strict male/female binary. In many, many instances throughout history it was Western colonialism that sought specifically to suppress those cultural conceptions of gender and force the colonized to adhere to the Western view of strict binary gender. Indeed, non-Western cultures not having the same binary conception of gender was often used as "proof" of their "savage" and "inferior" nature because there wasn't what Western thinking considered an appropriate delineation between the sexes.
It's true that translating specific English pronoun usage or neopronouns into another language is a complex linguistic question, but that's a localization issue. Not an issue of Korean people somehow collectively as a culture not understanding the millenia-old concept of nonbinary gender.

@@22joshbb Just because EA does it like that doesn't mean that it's a universal thing. A LOT of game developers actually do not try to sell to as many people as possible. Read about the Yakuza franchise for example: Its inventor said very clearly that they had to define a target group first and they decided they would 1) only target Japanese gamers who are 2) adults and 3) male. They completely took kids, women and non-Japanese people out of the equation. That's a VERY small target group for a game that is being sold by a company as huge as SEGA. And they STILL made it big, even among women and even in the West, because the games are genuinely that good.

I live in Korea and speak Korean to an intermediate level. The Korean language doesn't really use pronouns at all. They have pronouns, but they are mostly used to translate English. English actually kind of REVOLVES around the usage of pronouns to quite an extreme compared to other languages. If Korean people say, "I'm going to the supermarket", they say "supermarket go" - no pronoun. Pronouns are very rarely used - only if it is absolutely required for ambiguity reasons - and you would be surprised how very rarely pronouns are actually required - almost never, in fact.
I very much doubt that there will be pronoun variations for InZoi. InZoi might not have binary characters, or at least not outwardly. Various sexuality is not...as acceptable in Korea, although Korea is slowly changing, but it's a slow change. People here in Korea think very much in terms of male and female as separate. I would guess that the game will likely be fairly strictly male/female - otherwise they would essentially be leaving their culture to incorporate western values.
But Korean people are pretty innovative. I'm looking forward to this game because I suspect it will have mechanics and gameplay that might be quite innovative and different to other life sims, and that is a GOOD thing! We NEED life sims with different mechanical systems and different kinds of innovative gameplay to expand the genre. And the graphics are BEYOND wonderful. Having lived in Korea for many years, Korean people have different body language to western people, and these graphics are SO GOOD that I can easily see KOREAN body language in those graphics. They are REALLY well done when you can see the difference in body language between cultures in the animations!!

I think it’s very interesting that life simulation games seem to be more in demand in the West! It makes me wonder why we have such a desire to recreate day to day life in our spare time (aside from those days when we feel like taking the ladder out of the pool when our least favourite sim messes up for the last time - that’s maybe a little less day to day lol).
My thinking is that it’s probably a reflection of our sociopolitical environment being so chaotic all the time that we crave some form of control over life through an outlet that lets you play out life in whatever silly, fun, or visually appealing way we’d like to see in our own. I mean when you think about it, what other justification is there for having hundreds of farming sims, semi driving sims, life sims, heck pressure washing sims?? We just need some control over the mundane!
This being said, considering Krafton is responsible for PUBG, I’m beyond excited to see what InZoi ends up looking like!! Expectations for quality are super high at this point, and I’m not weary of their promises for future gameplay like I would be with EA :D

I made a character in Baldur's Gate the other day (another pretty inclusive game) and it made me want a more realistic-looking sim game, so inZoi is exciting in that regard. I noticed there's no younger life stages in the character creation though, so I hope they have plans on adding that.

In the vid that I watched, the person had a baby and they couldn't even interact with the baby. The baby was just chilling on the side lol. But I'll just give it to the fact that the game isn't done yet. Maybe they'll add more details later on before the release. But for now, I'm skeptical.

That game runs smoothly on every device (pc and console) and I have experience little to no issue with performance while playing that game. But the Sims four is almost unplayable, especially after they release expansion packs!! The game is so buggy I don’t even play it all the time anymore because I don’t want to deal with the glitches and bugs!!!

I caught a video with a You Tuber that had extensive use of Inzoi and did something like a let’s play of Inzoi that was close to two hours ago. I saw that video about six months ago.
I am a big fan of Korean Shows, so my first reaction to the video was Oh my God, this game is so incredibly gorgeous!! I sat down and watched the entire video. This game took a different route than Life By You. They went all in with the graphical elements before they worked on the real meat of games like this, the actual gameplay. The interactions the characters make in their social interactions looks great, and very Korean.
Upon more investigation the game is very much like a bunch of building backdrops erected in the middle of a desert to create an imaginary Western Town for a Spaghetti Western. Like Life By You, the colors and objects are fully customizable. Limited amount of items in build/buy, and absolutely no way for you to create new items, careers, discussions. Zero availability for any of those things. You cannot add additional floors in build mode. The town is incredibly beautiful, but unfortunately there is about only 12 locations you can go to, very similar to The Sims 4. Inzoi is different in that it is open world, but similar to Sims 4 with limited destinations. Inzoi has a ton of backdrop scenery. It is incredibly real and beautiful.
Occupations currently available--something like four. Fireman, K-Pop Singer (This is vital for any Korean-based game), Barista, and I think Covenience Store worker. The social interactions look great, but unfortunately it is really easy to build relationships, even more so than The Sims 3. Get married to a complete stranger in less than six game hours!
The human characters look more lifelike and attractive than any simulation I have ever seen. For all the infantile haters of Life By You that complain incessantly about them looking funny, Inzoi is the game you have all been waiting for. Me, on the other hand, have never spent an excessive amount on a lump of coal in a huge box with the most beautiful gift wrap I have ever seen.
I think the game’s time frame is similar to Life By You, but am not sure. It has not been revealed if Life By You has actual weather, but they sure have intricate cloud patterns and sunsets which seem to indicate that it would be very easy to implement if it is not in the base game. Inzoi does, but it is the choose your weather variety. Not at all like The Sims 3 or even The Sims 4. No buildup, no snow changing to rain or vice versa. You choose your own weather backdrop. It is almost like Inzoi was created mainly for gamers that want to create their own Korean Romantic Virtual Docudramas. And that is fine, I will probably watch a lot of those when they come out.
I did not know that they will have three towns, that is a definite improvement. Was watching some of the many videos on Life By You, mainly the ones on customization and I saw something that nobody reporting on Life By You has mentioned. It was in one of the games many customization menus. The number was 69, and the field was not sexual positions, it was REGIONS.

This game looks stunning, and it feels it comes to hmm give something the audience wants (? I mean, I feel TS4 prioritizes family players, and as far as we can see in this game, it seems family it's a feature but not the main one, like you can have children or babies but you'll keep playing with your own inZOI, things like job, socialization, feels very thoughtful.
I don't know if my point comes across, what I'm trying to say is that if you only have TS4 BG, it's like the game pushes you to have a family. Like, you get a job, get a partner, improve your home, and then, what else do you do? Like, dump your partner, have another one, etc., until you "settle down" and start a family, then your sim dies and you can keep the legacy or start over...
This BG seems to offer something different, so I'm intrigued

also about the LGBTQ fact, idk how koreans will feel about this or asians in general. In korea being homophobic is huge, they dont accept same sex marriage let alone couples. If men needs to go to military they need to break up with their boyfriends or even get divorced ( if they married in another country ) because same sex marriages or couples are not allowed there. Korea is really behind with all those stuff. so yeah we can ask for that but we should also keep in mind that this is a game by korean developers. for western people and koreans / asian people. So maybe they wont likely intergrate it into the game.

In my experience, a lot of Korean people feel similarly about religion. They just don't care. If they want an international game, gay couples are going to be an option.

Hey! Love your videos but im gonna be honest there is some mis information in it! Nonbinary identies are *not* a western or american/uk thing and never have been. There have been people outside the gender binary for all different kinds of culture's, inculding asian and passifc islander cultures. While they do not use the same language as a western person to describe their identity, identies outside of the gender binary and outside the concept of male and female have always existed and did NOT begin in the pandemic. This is often assumed because this is when tik tok started to boom, and more visibility for emby people became mainstream. But, just because a group isnt visible doesnt mean they dont exist! While it may seem small, and maybe this isnt how you meant it, its very dangerous to talk about emby people's like this. It makes it sound like non binaries are just a trend, which is not true. These identies have always existed and always will so long as we adapt the view of "girl and boy" as the only options for genders. Im not sure if you read this but if you do i hope you understand this is not a critique. Im not tryiny to nit pick, but sometimes when people talk in certain ways it can give people the wrong impression
