  • How to Automatic Create System Restore Points in Windows 10 [Tutorial]
    Add arguments(optional) field text:
    /Namespace:\
oot\default Path SystemRestore Call CreateRestorePoint "Daily Restore Point", 100, 12
If you 're looking for a way to automatically create system restore points in Windows 10 then continue with this tutorial. As you may know, the System Restore tool allows you to revert Windows to an earlier working state (point in time), and it used to recover Windows if something goes wrong and Windows does not work properly.
By default, System Restore automatically creates a restore point once per week and also before major events like an app or driver installation. If you want even more protection, you can force Windows to create a restore point automatically every time you start your PC.
System Restore is an important tool that can help you recover from many different types of problems. The only trouble is that when restoring to a previous restore point, you reverse many of the changes made to your PC since that restore point was created. These changes include apps and drivers that have been installed or uninstalled, changes that apps have made to the Registry and settings files, and Windows updates that have been applied. System Restore does create weekly restore points for you-and you can create your own manual restore points-but for a little more peace of mind, you can also have System Restore create a restore point every time Windows starts.
Making this change requires two steps. First, you’ll use the Windows Registry to change the frequency at which Windows can trigger automatic restore points, and then you’ll use Task Scheduler to set a startup task that creates a restore point.
This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 10 operating system (Home, Professional, Enterprise, Education) from all supported hardware manufactures, like Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba,Lenovo, and Samsung).

@MDTechVideos I have the same issue and questions as @jayjoyce9212 I've had Windows automatic updates brick multiple computers. When I manually create restore points they are easy to find. I created a task to automate it at login using this guide on one PC and daily at a specific time on another PC. Then manually ran the scheduled task and I couldn't find the restore point it should have created. @MDTechVideos could you please update your video with how to find the restore points created? Could you also give a brief explanation of the additional arguments you suggest adding instead of expecting us to blindly follow your advice? Thanks in advance.

Hello! Lately when I power up my computer it stays on the BIOS intro boot screen with a spinning Circle that repairs Drive em and Drive El which I actually do not have installed on my computer! Also drive and Mandel show up under my computer but there's nothing on them they don't exist it ghost drives I followed your directions to the letter it did not work they are still there! When I try to do a system restore the system restore page just sits there and says searching and none of my drives come up I had previously on configure all of my spare drives and only left my C drive configured not sure if that has anything to do with it don't even know how to get back to that? What else can I try to get rid of these two ghost drives so when I boot my computer it doesn't go through 20 minutes of scanning and repairing non-existent drives?

I followed all of these steps and set it for weekly every Sunday, starting from 16/01/22, but when I checked the restore points created using the ‘Run’ dialogue box, there is no automatic restore point listed for the 16th. I assume there should be a listing here for every restore point created every Sunday - is that right? If so, mine hasn’t worked for some reason…

@MDTechVideos, This seems to have helped alot of people.
For me, I put it in yesterday and watched the video 5 times to pause and ensure everything matched your recommendation.
I am on Windows 10 and have all cumulative updates through 1/10/23.
Trigger set for every 3 days at 2am.
Action set for wmic.exe with argument "/Namespace:\
oot\default Path SystemRestore Call CreateRestorePoint "Daily Restore Point", 100, 12".
Scheduler says it ran last night at 2am with a result of "The operation completed successfully. (0x0)".
When I go to system restore and click "show more restore points", it does not show 1 created last night.
Only thing I can think of is that I did not check the box to "Run with highest privileges".
Any help is appreciated and I will certainly contribute if I can get this to work properly. It will be worth every penny. Thank you!
