      They were in life, so know doubt they were quite different when they were alive. Achilles admitted it himself that he's still haunted by the violence he caused.
      Achilles was sent to serve Hades in the House, which most likely gave him time to reflect and let go of his rage.
      Patrocolus, he though he was sent to the afterlife of the greatest warriors, felt no such glory and let his fighting spirit fall to melancholy.

    • @placefantasy1821
      @placefantasy1821 4 года назад +26

      The idea was planted in his head by Nestor, but his death was caused by the gods after Patroclus slayed Sarpedon, son of Zeus while he and the other Achaeans were protecting the boats from Hector. The gods convinced Patroclus to chase Hector back to Troy and fight him there rather than in the Achaean camp. Apollo then shifts the battle in the Trojan favour after Hector begins to lose against Patroclus.

      @@serendipitygate9223 Normally I am always the first to complain that Christianity has made greeks very ignorant of the prevalence of homosexuality in Greek myths but here you're also thinking about it from a different time period. There's nothing about these facts that implies that they were more than super bros. Achilles' rage isn't even something unique to Patroclus' death, for starters it starts when he feels slighted by his fellow Achaeans and there's also that Amazon queen whose name escapes me, when they meet on the battlefield he mortally wounded her and when a fellow Greek finished her off Achilles again flies into a rage amd kills him with his hands.

    • @iokei7926
      @iokei7926 4 года назад +45

      @@riptrojans7237 From what I understand of Greece at the time, it was not uncommon for boys to sleep together or male teachers with their male students. What was odd about Patroclus and Achilles was that they remained just as close from childhood into adulthood - ultimately remaining that way in death. I personally don't think, even though Achilles was proud and easily angered, that it's fair to say they were just super bros. There are other same-sex friendships in Greek myths that do not reach the level of despair that Achilles is shown to have had at the death of Patroclus. I think, taking the time period into account, it was odd -something of note- at the time, but tolerated because of who they were. Who could tell Achilles, the greatest of the Greeks, their hero in the war, what to do? Achilles also dressed as a girl when he was young to avoid going to war, which was not looked at in the most positive of lights. It's just that those facets did not deserve more time than they had because there were more important things going on than their relationship (the war).

Or is it to make up for the murder of her husband and brothers? this is a really weird way if i may say but maybe only to my eyes of man of 2020. Yaaay, big wedding, the big dream of every girls lol XD. Beside, he knew he was doomed to die. Okay, I have no idea about this game, it seems really cool, all I have are two questions:
    1) Is Hector anywhere to be found in this game?
    2) Do Olympian Gods participate as well?

      1) Hector makes no appearance/isn't mentioned in this game (but Achilles and Patroclus do discuss some events from the Illiad that they were involved in from their own perspectives)
      2) Yes, 9 Olympians are involved in this game (some others that don't appear are vaguely referenced. And there's also Underworld Gods and various other Greek myth characters who appear) :)

    • @gamechanger8908
      @gamechanger8908 3 года назад +1

      @@acoolphin8846 You know most ancient Greeks were bisexual right, hell they don't even make labels of being gay, straight or bi it was either eros(sexual) or philia (close friendship) which many ancient Greeks argued of which they were.

    • @percyhooten7805
      @percyhooten7805 4 года назад +191

      no, only in the movie Troy were they ever called cousins and that movie is full of inaccuracies to the Illiad & other greek mythos, like making Patroclus younger than Achilles when it was the other way around, or making the Trojans sympathetic by saying Helen left with Paris of her own free will when she was taken by him. Achilles and Patroclus were very close friends and its been argued since the writing of the Illiad if they were lovers, and given the proper context I would think so, but they were never related.

    • @phantasosxgames8488
      @phantasosxgames8488 4 года назад +117

      no , they were not.
      Patroclus and Achilles were lovers , as Ancient Greece were way more open. Achilles was already married in Greece , with a son , but he also had Patroclus as a male lover and Briseis as a female lover.

    • @NIHIL_EGO

      The married god king of Greek mythology literally took the forms of animals to lay(sometimes forcibly) with other women, some of them being his grand daughters. Two male cousins have a relationship is pretty tame compared to that.
