Your son is very lucky to get that awesome system and even more lucky to have you as his father to install it and set it up right.
When my daughter turned 16, her first car got the Orion HCCA 225 installed. When she traded it in and purchased her second car, my first words were where's my amp? Even little girls can make grown men cry.
The old es was amazing! Hoping the new stuff can hang. Sony isn't really for your typical basshead. It more for people who have low watt amazing sounding systems. I hate the word audiophile, so I'm not using it hear.

Doug inspired me to put a system in my last car. Had a Sony amplified head unit that was excellent, don't know why other brands aren't doin' it.
This is the reason I stay subscribed to Soundman. When he is installing car audio we really see the genius he is. While this isn't the typical Doug we have come to enjoy and laugh with due to being sponsored it's still awesome to see how thorough he is and doesn't cut corners. I started installing Sony speakers and stereos years ago when I saw you use them in your videos. I’m so impressed with the sound quality that now Sony is all I buy
I have Sony Mobile ES and an XM GS4 amp for my mids and high. For the, sub I went with a Fi Neo 3.5 12 inch sub, a custom ported box tuned to 32Hz, and a PG Ti3 1300.1 amp. I have a pioneer NEX since I couldn’t afford a Sony mobile ES head unit at the time of getting an acquiring an aftermarket radio. I love the sound quality and how much my system bumps.
How is it running? im in the same situation. I have Sony ES Xs-163es speakers and Sony new Xav8500, but no amplifier yet. I was thinking about getting Sony GS4 or spending a little more and getting Sony XM-4ES?

This is the second video I see with the Sony ES system. Both seem to sound so good. Looks like Sony knocked it out of the park with this set very well balanced nice and punchy
I would never considering installing Sony stuff in my vehicle but after watching this video I realize the ES stuff from Sony looks like its good stuff and definitely considering it for my next build.

Back in the day during the PS3 Era Sony integrated the XMB menu system in most of their products including in certain cybershot cameras. I was shocked.
That was really enjoyable seeing a whole system fabbed up so quick and smooth. Love the silly videos but this one "getting down to business" was refreshing.
That was a nice install! I just saw that head unit a few days ago and thought it may be good for my car with its concave shaped dash and crammed together controls, now I REALLY want one. The sub box face is super nice, not too much, not too carpet. Carpety? Carpetity. Fuzzytit… yeah, yep. Great job. Depending on how sincerely positive you sound on the sound equalization video upcoming, I might seriously consider Sony speakers if they have the SQ to match the Hi-Res source.

Such a nice installation. I loved the video even more because I have the same amplifiers in my car. My installation is nowhere close to yours, you did an excellent job. I have connected the GS4 to four full range JBL components and GS100 to a JBL 1220 subwoofer(dual 12 inch). I did install both the amplifers in the trunk like you did, but had to move the GS4 beneath the passenger seat as it headed up a lot in the trunk. Keep making cool videos 👍👍

Not true. That audio is Sony's high end equipment. Don't be confused with the stuff walmart sells. Not the same. And the Sony equipment in this video is not in some peoples budget.
Sony, like some other companies, makes a lot of cheap stuff for the entry level folks. However, their higher end stuff really does sound amazing! In now way are they some sort of spl monsters, but sound quality wise they’re awesome.
Same with their consumer home audio, big boomy boxes claiming 10,000watts with RGB for the bogans, yet have in the past done dedicated hifi tower speakers with all Scan Speak drivers with actual high end design
Those speakers look fabulous. Hopefully they sound even better than the rather excellent Sony car speakers I've heard in the past. I've found Sony and Pioneer typically have pretty good performance per cost if you aren't into sourcing drivers and crossovers yourself and just want to buy something already designed to work together. I absolutely love custom tweeter pods when they've been executed well, and these will absolutely showcase the wonderful aesthetics of those tweeter housings. Sony has long loved their minimalist design scheme, but these really take it to the extreme. Just finished watching and it's just a great build. Incredibly clean "what stock wishes it looked like" design. I also love that Sony is finally getting around to including the Saber DAC/amp chips into their consumer-grade head units, because they do sound fantastic. Nice and clean without being aggressively analytical.
