Jst what I was looking for 👌👌 how long frm the start of the water Drainage Kuneki Pl to the bottom of those stairs ???🤔🤔 Great Vid 👋👋👋👋👋 Thank U frm Australia 🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲
You could spend about 4 hours going up and down. Not too long. Chill at the top for a bit and enjoy the views. Pick a nice day. I went through mid day.
I read an article that The Honolulu Board of Water Supply may be taking down the stairs. So if you are going to do this hike. Do it soon. You may not get to in the future.
Yup. Awesome video Der Cot. Our small group from K-Bay made it through the neighborhood(without getting caught) before sunrise.lol. Started to rain halfway up but made it to the top. Damn good memories! Mahalo for sharing.
Google "Haiku Police Guard" and see for yourself, interaction with the Guard at the 18 minute mark and again, at the end. Look for video with Stop Sign. Muffins for the Guard, helped
Debora Cagliani we we're at the entrance gate around 4 am in the morning. We didn't know that the last house by the gate does neighborhood watch. He called the cops on us. And after five minutes three cop cars arrived and kicked us out and gave us a warning.
It amazes me how people are stupid. You don't have to trespass to get to the top of this mountain. Also, the walk up the stairs is everything, but fun. It's actually a boring climb a staircase. Only walking down is exciting as you keep on looking in a distance as you progress down. Also, it's not dangerous at all. The railings are strong and tight next to you. If you really are up for an exciting hike/climb than do it without braking any laws/trespassing and climb it up from the back of the mountain. Much more enjoyable as you get to walk a ridge on an actual trail with superb views around you. theoutbound.com/hawaii/hiking/hike-the-moanalua-middle-ridge-trail-to-the-haiku-stairs-peak G.
Wow this is amazing. Thank you for the video. Very helpful! Planning to do it in June. Just wondering is it hard to find the way to the stairs from the drain? The way looks confusing. Did you get lost? Will google map work?
It was a little tough. didnt really get lost. Just had to go around the ridge following the highway to the right until we reached the stairs. the bush got a little thick and a bit steep at times but we just pushed through.
Der Cot me and best friend are planning to do every early morning and we just a bit concern about getting lost from the start to the stair base. Any helpful tips? :))) thank you
Nathan Sinh ya it will probably be hard in the early morning. just be quiet going through the neighbourhood. There has been calls from neighbourhood watch. bring head lamps. Follow the trails. There r a few so take the right one lol. There will be no guard really early in the morning. So u can take the acces road right to the stairs after you get through the storm drain. Take lots of water. The sunrise is probably pretty cool.
On weekdays that gate is open because there's a school inside. I spoke to one person that did it mid afternoon and she said the guard didn't harassed her and even gave her water. From what I understand as long there's not a big group they the guard won't stop you. Good luck.
Ya you can walk right up the main driveway when the gate is open during the day. The guard may not bother you if there hasn't been many hikers. Just be respectful of the neighborhood. Be quiet and don't walk on any properties. If you want to avoid the guard you can walk up the storm drain and through the bush. like in the video. bring lots of water.
Just do this theoutbound.com/hawaii/hiking/hike-the-moanalua-middle-ridge-trail-to-the-haiku-stairs-peak And you'll have much more fun. Also, the guard is not police. They cannot stop you. Just be respectful. G.
I was able to avoid the security on the way in because I climbed along the ridge until I got to the stairs. Was a bit of a ways up the stairs when I got on. When I went back down I walked right past the security. Gave me no problems. The security actually asked "how was the hike"
haha i see, i first went to this other neighborhood around 11 with my friends and end up getting yelled at by a local uncle when i climbed over a fence so we went thru the storm drain a couple of blocks away instead, the owner of the house by it didn't seem to care anymore so we just went down as her and her dog watched us but thanks for the vid, really helped out
Is anybody going to do this hike anytime between Sep 18-22? I really want to but prefer to go with someone. Even if it means asking a stranger on youtube lol.

Kuneki Pl
Definitely the best video out there showing the entry to the stairs, going in June and can't wait!
Amazing hike. Just make sure you pick a clear and non windy day. It can get very foggy and windy.
Will do!
81sForLife hey when in June are you going? I'm thinking of going in June as well
I wont be there in June.
Nim Tailor we will be there the first week of June.
perfect tourist attraction of a zip line alllllllll the way down!
I read an article that The Honolulu Board of Water Supply may be taking down the stairs. So if you are going to do this hike. Do it soon. You may not get to in the future.
Bullshit. It would cost too much for no good gain. And the staircase was renovated in the early 2000.

Would you say the stairs can be difficult during the hike
Ya it can be pretty difficult at times. Mostly okay though. If you take your time 3 hours up and down from base.
Google "Haiku Police Guard" and see for yourself, interaction with the Guard at the 18 minute mark and again, at the end. Look for video with Stop Sign. Muffins for the Guard, helped
Can’t imagine all the workers who had to haul all those material to build those platforms/buildings/stairs up there
Great video.thanks for sharing it..although some parts of those stairs seem sketchy as hell!!!!
Would be amazing to hike, but I wonder what is the condition of those stairs and walkways today. This was in 2017.
that is awesome! planning to do this in late July. Also thanks for the tips for avoiding security guard.
how early in the morning did you have to go?
We went at 11am. wanted good sunlight. So we climbed through the bush in the middle of the day. You can go early and skip the guard if you want.
Awesome coverage!! hope to cover it with my drone someday well drone young Jedi ! JIM
Thanks for this video. Is there any guard around ??
Yes there was a guard down at the bottom all day.
VERY NICE! Thank you.
Your welcome!!
Wow amazing hike..
It was incredible. If you ever get a chance GO..
Der Cot we tried but people in the neighborhood called the cops and we almost got arrested.
Really? What happened? I'd love to do that but I'm scared by this
Debora Cagliani we we're at the entrance gate around 4 am in the morning. We didn't know that the last house by the gate does neighborhood watch. He called the cops on us. And after five minutes three cop cars arrived and kicked us out and gave us a warning.
Ya that's very unfortunate. It illegal to access since it is private property. You could try again and sneak up the storm drain off of Kuneki St.
It amazes me how people are stupid.

Der Cot alright cheers mate! I'm really nervous but looking forward to that day :)
I'm now here at Honolulu and I'd love to do that! Please can you tell me how did you reach the stairs without meeting the guard?

Amazing...can't wait to do it!
Did you go surfing dude?
Went to Tunnels beach and the Banzai Pipelines.
What neighborhood did you go to in the beginning of the video to start it out?
Kaneohe is the area. Off of Kuneki St (pl)
Der Cot thank you. I plan on doing this hike this year just wanted the heads up.
Ya its an amazing hike. Just use google maps. There will be security there. They r pretty calm. Just be respectful of the area.
did you get stopped by them? or were you able to avoid them by going the way you did
I was able to avoid the security on the way in because I climbed along the ridge until I got to the stairs. Was a bit of a ways up the stairs when I got on. When I went back down I walked right past the security. Gave me no problems. The security actually asked "how was the hike"
Nice! do you have the GPS location of your entrance?
Its off of Kuneki Pl. down from Kuneki St.
Use the google street view to see the area.
did you walk by the bamboo forest by any chance? or was this another route
Ya I went another route through the storm drain.
haha i see, i first went to this other neighborhood around 11 with my friends and end up getting yelled at by a local uncle when i climbed over a fence so we went thru the storm drain a couple of blocks away instead, the owner of the house by it didn't seem to care anymore so we just went down as her and her dog watched us but thanks for the vid, really helped out
that was awesome...need directions to find it...
You will have to use google maps. Head to the Kaneohe subdivision. Its off of Kuneki St.
Thank you!!
