    Really well done Xan. This is well-explained, easy to follow, and, most importantly, extremely informative. It's amazing how well you've managed to convey these concepts in a manner that anyone, beginner or veteran, can get something useful out of.

    This video proves that button mashing is definitely not the way to play a Monster Hunter game. Great content that inspires me to try a different weapon type (gunlance main).
    Honestly, I'm interested in any content you provide!

    • @nuke2099
      @nuke2099 2 года назад +1

      With slower weapons button mashing usually doesn't happen but with ones with faster combo's it can happen regardless of intent simply because if you don't press in the right order fast enough you end up not executing the combo's.

    A tip that still works from the old world is head sniping. It’s simple to perform, simply position yourself beside or to the rear of a monster and time the charge to the turn of the weakspot. This is better if your running punish draw and crit draw on your set so you can optimize the effects of those skills

    I really hope to see more of this come Sunbreak, as you've managed to actually teach me a weapon I've previously thought I was completely incapable of learning. I could never get GS to click for me. I've been a IG, SA, CB, GL and HH player, basically adding those weapons to that list as they were added. GS was one I tried every game starting in 2 and bounced hard off of. I can confidently pick up any weapon and use it effectively to a G Rank level, except GS. At least until now. This and the basics video finally got me understanding GS, and while I'm still learning, I'm definitely not far behind my SA clear times now, which is my main weapon in Rise. I'm even beating my best times on some monsters with other weapons first time with GS.
    GS is definitely going to be one weapon I use in Sunbreak when I decide to grind it's better match ups.

If you can do few videos on monsters' patterns and positioning that would be amazing (It can be youtube shorts for instance). Like your clip at 2:28 I never noticed that Magnamolo, after a charge like this, does a slow stomp and you can do your full combo at a distance easily like this. Hey Xan! Great video! I really want to main greatsword and I'm just curious about your approach to learning each monster that you fight in Rise. How much practice do you put into each fight that you post on your channel? Do you use any resources to learn a monsters attack patterns and movesets? Thanks in advance for any information or knowledge you can provide to us noobies!

    • @XanMH1
      @XanMH1  2 года назад

      The best way to learn monsters is a combination of fighting them a lot by yourself and looking at how other people fight it. I've put anywhere between 10 and 100+ hours into my Rise runs, but most of that is resetting for favorable attacks or dog behaviour. Learning the monster itself only takes between 2-5 hours I'd say. The only resources you can use for this are monster guides and speedruns.

Everyone seems to use the S&S skill for the example because (its the least use weapon or whatever excuse the give) I think its because the silk bind skill is so easy to use to get wyvern riding to pop up. I can seem to get wyvern riding skill to pop up well or quickly with the great sword. I attack the non quest monster and it still takes forever. I should be hitting the monster with adamant slash correct? what am i doing wrong? i generally see someone get the wyvern riding skill to pop up with 1 S&S silkbind move.

      Go to controls and change your player action settings to type 1. For some reason it doesn't work with type 2.
