- I had a lot of old hand planes and spoke shaves that needed a home. I have made some shelves for the planes and a rack for the spoke shaves.

I love this look Matt, lovely vintage feel to it all. Your use of materials makes the workshop rich 😊
The trouble with a window display is that it can get really damp with condensation so your planes will get pretty rusty unless you slather them in oil. 👍
Hi Matt, that all looks very arty, but then you are a wood artist, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia, Les
Nice work Matt
👍👍👍. Thanks Matt
When you say "Liddle" you sound like Frank Spencer.
very tidy work Matt
Thank you
@@Badgerworkshop did you watch the saul leiter documentary yet? hope you like it if so
I made a rack similar to that for the spoke shaves. Because I was worried about the bits snapping off because of the direction of the grain, I put some screws in from the rear (the longest I could without protruding out the front). 5 mins job done, none have ever snapped. Great edit as always Matt. Thanks for the video.👍
Show us the planes!! Id actually love a plane restoration video matt. I know theres alot out there but i cant get enough of them! Id love to see your take. Especially restoring multiple planes
Whilst i admire the workmanship, i cant help but recall my college woodworking machine tutor warning us about removing the riving knife cover.
Just makes me think that I really have to start sorting out my workshop. Looks great (yours not mine)
Looking homely and a calming place to work
Thank you
Those vintage tools look fabulous in the windows!
Thank you
Sounds like you have something catching on your drill press, makeing a loud clicking noise ! Might be worth having a look !
I have a spokeshave. I used it only once in 6 years and it was not going well so i used a power carver instead. You have seven spkeshaves. I respect this.❤
Good see you find a convenient home for your collection of hand planes Matt, hope to see more content with you restoring and using them !
Work is fantastic, although i don't think leaving planes in the window with sun and condensation is the best thing to do. varnish on handles will get ruined and blades get rusty,
You’re making yourself a lovely workspace there Matty ✊
Thank you very much
The silhouette of the planes when looking out the window is fantastic - great backdrop!
What about your shutters and aren’t you worried about security? Despite that, I LOVE the concept. Looks beautiful in a VERY pleasing old school way.
If I remember correctly, the shutters got binned - too dark or something like that
@@danludlam1562got it. Still worried for his security though 🫣
Great job Matt, BUT, don't you think it generate rust on them planes being close to glass during UK winter months Um Um !!!.😏😏.
One question: putting hand plans near the windows, will the sun damage the color? By the way, the holder of your spoke shaves, it looks two tones after you put finish on. Very pretty.
Hi Matt, That look's amazing in your workshop on summers evening just looking through window at your wood planes as the sun goes down sitting there with a beer, nice.
Great video as always Take care
Really beautiful work, Matt! I really liked the design! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Cracking job as always , great workmanship
Thank you
A great way to display everything Matt, and easy to access as well. More ideas for my man cave :)
Now you've got them all out on show, can you do a video about how YOU set one up please, I'm clueless!
Love how you put together the shelf for the spokeshaves. Think I'll be copying that!
I found spokeshaves were always difficult to store, but not anymore 😊
Yes I never knew what to do with them
Looks great, your workshop is really coming along. I love the shelves and those vintage hand planes are fantastic!
Thank you very much
Looks good
Thank you
Won't any condensation cause issues with rust?
Looking very nice would you consider making a 7foot a frame wooden ladder would be interesting and very handy to have as I'm thinking of making a 8 foot a frame ladder to cut my conifers
That’s asking to be broken in too
Compliments, but……your videos getting a bit dark.
