When you were making the mistake with the dowels I thought, Oh this is some kind of a new joinery. I have always told myself if you can fix your own mistakes it is a sign of a good woodworker.
Hi Matt, the best way to improve a piece of Ikea furniture. The quality of Ikea furniture is poor for the price of it. but now you have improved it and made it usable a good fix . As always a great video Take care
I discovered how these tabletops were constructed when I slammed down my beer glass for dramatic effect and made a nice round hole in the the top - the kids thought this was hilarious, but Mrs C rather less so ! 😬😉😂
IR-ON, found a dusty one in the garage when edge banding the other day. I was wondering if you could have removed the honey comb core and reused the white top laminated to a lump of ply? Just a thought mainly because conti board is a ridiculously price product
@@Badgerworkshop fair point Matt re glue. My pet hate material, conti. I would rather use oil soaked wet pallet wood. Everyone has there quirks this is mine 🙈
Who are you trying to kid with “my friend is a crafter”, we all know you are making a dog grooming bench for your new channel “Badgers dodgy doggy daycare”!!! 😂
It would be really nice if you used that wood to make a full, glued, top. With some stain. Sure, you would need more wood, but you could afford it with the money spent on the chipboard. Cheers!
Honestly I think those cardboard things are pretty cool. They use a LOT less material and they do the job. I'm not sure I really prefer chipboard over them.
@@WonkyStud For some things I think they make more sense than chipboard, mdf or even plywood. If people want to buy and throw things away a few years later when they move or they want to redecorate, it might as well be cardboard and empty space. So much material/trees/glues/resins/etc saved. Also, as much as people love ragging on Ikea, they do some pretty cool things like sending you free hardware (screws etc) if you lost it in a move. My brother bought a desk, lost all the specific screws in a move, and they sent us everything for free. Without all that specific hardware the desk would have been useless, now it's my desk.
Doweling jig I used

Perfectly practical yet questionably coloured.
That's definitely the cutest Ir-on machine I've ever seen! 🤣🤣
It was great
I screamed when you drilled the long pieces 🤣

A much better version than the other one and a lot sturdier
I do find people upgrading IKEA furniture really entertaining. There is something very relatable about it.
Yes we all have some
👍👍👍. Thanks Matt
Thank you
Nice work Matt, a much more superior table that your friend will really appreciate
Thank you. They are pleased
Hi Matt, a great little table for the client, and pink is the new black, bedt regards from a Kiwi living in Australia, Les
Thank you. I don’t think I will be painting the workshop pink
5:37 put a smile on my face.. that's exactly what I was doing 😂

Thank you very much
Wow that's the cutest little iron I've ever seen! :D
It worked really well for that
More respect to someone who admits to their mistakes than to someone who hides them and pretends they are perfect. 👍
Definitely not perfect

I can imagine she was not amused
Get a new Mrs C then pal

The furniture board I used was pretty cheap. You probably could re use it but might have to spend a while removing glue

Pretty nice work, Matt! 😃
I can't say it's beautiful, with that color, but... What can we do. 😬
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

That would be great channel
How was Mum's trip away and was she pleased with the work ye did at her's? Nice table project Matt! Take care & stay safe.
She was pleased. I’m sure she will have more jobs for me soon
@@Badgerworkshop Nea doot. Sometimes it seems the more we do, the more they want. Gotta love 'em! TC&SS.
You’re developing a hunch as that work shop is too small for you.
Also, get some ventilation and vacuuming dust extraction etc

Thanks for the video but wouldn’t it have been a lot cheaper to buy another IKEA desk top for about £20 and reuse the same legs??
How on earth did you manage to find the worlds smallest ir ON 🤣🤣🤣
And it won't sag over time / with real use like the IKEA 'LACK' original. I've scrapped a few of those myself.
Yes you can but not for the same price! It's like comparing apples and oranges 😅😅😅
In terms of materials there is not much difference
Badger 2 Ikea 0. Great video Matt.
Thank you
I was shouting! Why weren't you listening?
Why do you look like you’ve just woke up in all your videos 😂😂😂
Well Bosch, do you do one in blue??? 😅
Unfortunately not
Ha ha ha Black vs pink lemonade and pink lemonade won!!
The client is always right
yeah yeah, chipboard it's better, but the ikea table it's made from recycled paper😂
Haha and they use a lot of it

@@kz.irudimen indeed as a woodworker myself I obviously don't recommend it but it's a darn nice invention from an engineering point of view
