- Working on the jazzy, swing-style be-bop intro to Boogie Nights. Always loved the way Bilbo started this song with this intro then jumped into the main beat. And his drums sound sooooo good! Deep, fat, punchy and melodic.
Well for thirty seconds that was really good. People don't realize how good Heatwave were and you nail Bilbos drum parts
still working on the final, extended version.
The day you release this whole song might destroy the internet.

Would you recommend the Remo CS black dots? I have an old Slingerland kit with 14" and 16" concert toms, and the Remo Coated Vintage A's I have on them just aren't tuning up well. Could be the drums themselves obviously (I hope not) but you seem to be getting a great sound out of yours! Cheers.

QUESTION:
Is there a way I can get a breakdown of your kits setup, as I'm looking for ideas on how to setup a drum kit and the "STANDARD" kit setup doesn't seem to work for me "SONICALLY" / "MUSICALLY!"
AS I'm basically just starting out on drums, and although it sounds funny and I can't really explain it, my "EARS" are telling me, I should be getting "MORE" out of a drum kit, than just the "STANDARD" kit setup!
If there's any way you can help me, thank you, in advance!
You have to think of individual drums as voices. And each drum will only "sing" a range of certain frequencies. All the drums together make up the voice of the "kit" and if you tune to musical notes, which I do, you try to match the notes on the original drum track. It all comes down to tuning the drums well. And that comes from experience.
