@@krau2880 It is currently being revived as part of the Shotgun Players in the Bay Area, California. It's a small production, but it is the first time the show will have seen the stage in quite some time and hopefully it will lead to more.
I honestly prefer him in this role over Josh Groban. Josh honestly sounds too pretty for the role and was basically more of a push to get people in seats. It would have been interesting if owned it and took up the mantle of Pierre like Lin Manuel Miranda in Hamilton, maybe he’d be more of a household name in the Broadway community. I love Dave’s characterisation of Pierre and the gritty quality his voice brought to the role, it kinda suited the character and the score as a whole more imo. I shall listen to the original off Broadway cast recording forever for that alone and for Philipa Soo as she can actually belt the higher notes in No One Else. That frustrated me to much in the Broadway version even though Denee Benton has a lovely voice. Both her and Groban just sound too pretty and polished for my taste and the authenticity the score and orchestrations inhabit
@@MarlinTheGaiboi01 completely agree! Broadway is good, but I’ve always preferred the off Broadway version for those reasons. Really wish there was a full video of that version
I saw this show three times-- twice off-Broadway and once on. It's my favorite musical, and it's not even close. I wish it hadn't closed. I wish more people knew about it. It's utter, heartbreaking magic.
would love to see the cabaret/restaurant staging of this come back somewhere someday. there's a certain charm to it that's lost in the transition to the form factor of the stage.
It's funny how often it happens! Both Pippa and Denee have played Eliza in Hamilton, Cinderella in Into the Woods, and of course Natasha in Great Comet!
This show was SO much better in its intimate setting. It's part of what made it magical. Broadway was fun, but if you got to see the smaller productions you know how much fun was had.
This show NEEDS a revival
If this doesn’t get revived in the next 5 years I don’t know what I’ll do but it will be bad

@@kueller917 yeah it’s also getting productions in South Korea/Japan
@@kueller917 I wish I could audition for that!

Dave Mallow is the perfect example of someone who doesn't need to be the best singer to actually "sing" and entertain.
