After a while the first capacitor will blow up due to operating at wrong polarity. You could fix this by using other type of capacitors or replacing the first one with a cap that doesn't have polarity.
None of the capacitors are reverse polarised. For example, C1 is charged via D1 on positive half cycles. On negative half cycles D1 prevents C1 from discharging via the power supply but as the negative terminal of C2 is taken negative, C2 charges from the accumulated charge in C1 via D2. This repeats all the way up the ladder.
@@user-ug5wt7yd5qthats not true, the voltage in each capacitor is less than 50V. He is measuring the voltage between a common node and one node of the capacitors, so when is far away the voltage of each capacitor are added
For those questioning the rating of capacitor. Each stage is within limit. But you are measuring reference voltage in accumulative stages. So if you measure each stage you will see only 36 volts minus parasitic loss.
You have caps rated for 50v, but even after the first cap - voltage is 60v plus (upto 240v). Why wont the caps blow, especially putting 240v through a 50v rated capacitor? I read it was because the caps are in series - so 3 caps (90v) would be getting a 30v each??
They are électrolytique. Meaning they have a polarité ac goes from +to- this will reverse the voltage on the capacitors. But the circuit works the capacitors just arent the right kind for the job.

@@TARIQLABthat's what I want to ask why your capacitors don't explode because their voltage is exceeded

Use mains voltage capacitors to get a good output straight from mains. Some uses take very little current at 4000V or more .
Простой умножитель.. только конденсаторы надо ставить на одну четверть больше напряжения выдаваемого каждым каскадом. А то сможет быть взрыв
That is what is needed on a self charging bicycle or vehicle perhaps; .
Pretty much a dc transformer that's cool
I'm gonna stick to using a boost converter
i had a thought imagine using both .
caps rated at 50v, how are they not blowing up!?
Because in series, total Voltage divided on each capacitor 30v
each cap only has 30v between it and the previous one, it goes in steps

Yes all capacitors hold 30v , so there is no issue, u can see this arrangement in almost all types of insects killer
HOW?!
Super SUPER
Ac with electrolitic caps... Not a great idea.

I think you should use non-polarized capacitors
Polarity remains same on all capacitors so no need to use non polar capacitors

Should have that 50v capacitor exploded once it goes over 50v and how does that capacitor still works at like 240v
Every capacitor has around 30v on it , all capacitors are on series, collective volts 230
Not on loads of amps loads use so much amp from loading device on.
