Stumbled upon this by chance, even though I have been to your website many times. Great advice regarding the head of the spoon mule! I never would have thought of the spacer and hollowing out the back of the head so that the spoon is easier to manipulate. Thanks a bunch from northern Cape Breton Island!
Oh, I like the reversable head! Oh, man I want to build one!Spoon mule/ shave horse! Plus! the spacers are a genious after thought. Versatility is the way to go, cuz you never know what the demand will be.
Looks very versatile and well thought out. Here's another idea: If you make the shave-horse head a few inches higher, or the spoon-mule head a little lower, you could use the shave horse in a limited way with the spoon-mule head in place. Wouldn't be convenient if you were doing a lot of shaving, but it'd be OK for a few quickie shaves.
hi its realy helpfull i would like to ask if this setup i can use with diffrent type of carving i mean not only spoon and cupd can also for figure too ?
Very interesting and informative thank you. I’m planning on building an easy rider style shave horse designed by Sean Hellman for a similar reason that I can swap spoon and shave heads out of the body
Awesome work! Where did you get the kook knife head? Looks fantastic for the specialized areas that are encountered on bowls, spoons etc. Great stuff you do
I love this! Thanks for the inspiration to make a mule. I've built a shaving horse and think I can adjust or add to help it become a part time mule!
Hi Michigan,
Nice setup you have there.
Great use of the space on your shave horse.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. I will order some plans and get building!

Something that would have been commonplace 100 years ago is now an almost lost skill!
Best of luck from the UK mate!

Very interesting design. I am curious if you have ever tried using pieces of rubber matting for jaw liners rather than leather?

Я думал гном себе коняшку запилял,в гости поедет,тряся бородищей,а он ложку строгать надумал......
