  • Molybdomancy is a curious tradition Finns do at New Year. It involves melting metals in your home kitchen and then predicting future! Here is an alternative method of doing it if you don't want to start doing metallurgy.

We have the same tradition in Poland on St. Andrew's Day but we use wax. Happy New Year to you and your loved ones.

My mom used to do this every New Year and after we kids moved away she did it for each one of us. She brought a big tub of snow inside and poured the molten tin in the snow. She also lit a candle and held the piece of tin against the flame and tried to figure out what the shadow looked like. It was usually money 😂. I figured candle wax would probably work too, just have to be careful it doesn't cath on fire. Your slead might predict a trip, maybe to Finland to make few videos of festival/tori foods??? Onnellista Uuttavuotta!

Love it! We do it with pieces of solder wire, heat it in a metal spoon over wood fire or a barbecue until it melts and then drop it in a galvanized bucket of cold water. It's so fun! It looks like you got a mermaid shape...time to go fishing!
