Milk potatoes is a simple dish that relies so much on the quality of the potatoes. Use whole milk, and serve with some freshly baked Finnish rye bread, and you have a hearty meal!
I had no idea about the enzymes in new potatoes, thank you! I just planted potato seeds a few weeks ago so when they're ready, I will definitely be trying this soup. Reminds me of an old German recipe that was passed on to my mother decades ago when she was a nurse. Never met a potato I didn't like! 🙂
I was just talking with my friend today how crazy about potatoes Finns are. Here in the stores you'll find a dozen different varieties, many looking similar but having different properties. So many choices you never knew existed!
@@finnishyourplate Wow, potato heaven! Sounds like my kind of country, haha. Here in our stores, we get the norms: Russet, Yukons, reds. Occasionally you'll find purple but not often.
as you might expect, there are a lot of different ways to eat new potatoes, I'm more used for potatoes with butter and "paahtosuola" I wish and hope Mikko catches one of these, mostly Kangasniemi / Mikkeli area recipes to try and show

I'll need to see what I can cook for myself during my stay in Ivalo. This is an excellent candidate. Thank you!
Look for the potatoes from Lapland - puikula!
My late mother would put cut-up potatoes in the pot when she made "Couracka". Its sauerkraut soup.
Oh I will have to look that up!

Oh interesting, I don't think I've ever had them!
Vähän lisää kasviksia ja maitopotut muuttuvat kesäkeitoksi.
Totta. Ja molemmissa on tärkeää vihannesten tuoreus.
Nettle soup lookalike.
Oh interesting, I guess yeah!
@@finnishyourplate Mhm! Especially when you make the nettle soup with lots of cream. Absolutely delicious. Potatoes and nettles go together.
Vero nice this finnish recipe
Thank you!
Is it possible to get fresh enough potatoes in the US for this?
I've bought them at farmers markets.
